Am I right that a Brentford promotion is the best outcome for Rovers financially with the clauses in the Raya deal? Not that we’ll likely see any of it reinvested in the window.

If there's a promotion clause then, yeah, I suppose so. Followed by a £200m move to Arsenal the week after.

Wonder if they will have a different logo on our shirts?  representing the not bothered about results , or the league table, instead representing the never ending journey so favoured by our leader ToMo

Another article on Chapman, lancs live seem to have verified it too with a club source if I'm reading it right. I'm now wondering if he had to have played a certain amount of games for us this season or we had to activate it by a certain point or something and nobody remembered that part of the clause. Including his agent, which would be odd.

    https://www.lancs.live/sport/football/football-news/blackburn-rovers-chapman-contract-situation-20612928?fbclid=IwAR1V-EUqkYUoOktGz95DKjNom7g9aAq6mmmcWyYjixFav_FmRg0ZRgFepLQ

Very odd goings-on. In early April Chapman, Chapman's agent and Mowbray all confirmed there was an option of extension in his contract. A month later there is no option to extend. Hmmm?

Either someone at Ewood is lying to the LT and LL, and there really is an extension (why they would do that I've no idea?)

Or there has been an almighty cock-up in the admin dept at Rovers.

Not wanting to shoot the messenger but if true that would be absolutely insane.

Who gives an employee at work lower standards and expectations because they've already made a colossal mess of things?

That would be bizarre and erratic even by Venky's previous standards. Not sure if I believe any of that at all.

I do. The narrative is clear. Comments made by Mowbray recently about setting expectations and driving ambition last summer have been instructive. He's basically been saying that the only reason top 6 was talked about was because HE set the ambition. The fact we couldn't meet his target was not his fault, all he was guilty of was being over-ambitious. Sharpe recently said similar. The goalposts have been shifted.

Honest Tony knows exactly what he's doing.

What the Coventrio had to do in the last few weeks was convince the owners that last seasons failure was due to Covid, pitch, injuries etc.....basically all the excuses he's been trotting out since January. They've seemingly succeeded.

The narrative for the rest of the summer will be to get back to Ewood and get behind the young academy lads, they need our support as they develop, not to put too much pressure on them and get behind the lads etc etc.  It's a new journey now. There'll be no talk of promotion, just plucky young Academy lads trying to mix it with the millionaires who've come down from the Prem, just honest Tony developing 'assets' and 'good humans'.

    Remember, results don't matter.

    It's all there Rev.

Q: Any update on the transfer embargo?

A: The transfer window doesn’t open until July 1, and Rovers have until the end of next month to get their accounts in. If they’re FFP compliant, then there won’t be anything to worry about, but still waiting for the accounts to land.

So it’s a wait and see on that one, at the moment.

i.e at this moment in time we are still under the registration ban widely reported last month along with 7 other clubs.

    Two separate issues.

Rovers were supposedly placed under an embargo (with 7 other clubs)  for not submitting their 2019/2020 accounts by the EFL deadline. Rovers said they did in the link you referenced (Club response to national media report - News - Blackburn Rovers)

Sharpe is referring to FFP. The FFP reporting period covers 4 years and will be assessed this summer. That is what Sharpe is referring to.

Is there any evidence that merging together would gain them more following? At present I doubt it. Waggott will listen to them and possibly follow through on some of their suggestions, but as for being able to put real pressure on the club, as I say they need to show to the club that they have real backing of thousands of fans.

Agreed, it's all too fragmented to achieve anything. There also seem to be competing factions operating behind the scenes with different aims and objectives.

Waggott couldn't do a better job of 'divide and conquer' if he tried.

And Waggott isn't there to accommodate the wishes of the fans either judging by his actions so far, let's be absolutely clear about that.

An empty ground next season may make the people running the club sit up and listen.

Hopefully Venkys where watching owner rom Leicester City yesterday, it was encouraging to see him embrace the win and enjoy the celebrations with his players. When covid is sorted in India it would be nice to see the owners return and engage with fans and players.

They had 10 years pre- Covid to do that and didn't.

  8. Tweets from RS for those not on twitter (apologies if i've missed the specific one DeeCee mentions)

These tweets are in response to fan's questions. Questions paraphrased below, Sharpe answers in bold:-

    Is TM staying?

TM retains the backing of the owners who agree with him about the unique nature of the season. Everything in place for the summer, budget and retained list sorted, which all points to him being entrusted to take the club forward.

    Prediction for next season?

see what the summer brings, but I don't think there will be the same level of expectation. Consistency remains the biggest issue, and they might not have the services of a 28-goal striker and only managed 15th with him. So it will need greater contributions across the board.

What excuses have Venky's swallowed for this season?

schedule, lack of pre-season, preparation, Covid absences etc. That isn’t my take btw, just relaying what the viewpoint is within the club.

I said that if he is still in charge a week after the season ends we are stuck with him. That time has now arrived and he is still here. In addition there have been numerous articles in the local press which suggest, without doubt, he will be here next season. @Paul Mani@oldjamfan1 how is it looking. Not having a go, just seeking comfort that maybe all hope is not lost and things may still be happening.

He isn't going anywhere. He probably never was. There is no comfort blanket here, just a damp, shit-stained duvet rotting under a bridge.

Amazing the mental gymnastics our local media will go to stay on the fence. Crooke:

‘To Mowbray's merit he stuck to his philosophy’

Why is this to ‘his merit’ when results were poor, we were plummeting down the table and we ended up with fewer points?

He probably meant 'credit'. And in fairness the context is lost without the sentences that follow:

But there will come a time where you have to accept that elements to his gameplan are just not working. Worst-case scenario, grind out results now with the view to utilising a full pre-season in the summer to mould the squad in the design that you adore. Playing to the strengths of his personnel appeared to elude Mowbray, a lack of alternative planning further adding to their woes.

...which, in fairness to Crooke, is a pretty accurate assessment of some of Mowbray's many failings.

The more and more I hear from Mowbray the more angry I get. He's a coward and a liar and the sound of his voice alone sickens me.

Exactly how I feel. It has now got to Kean levels for me, even if the circumstances aren't exactly the same.

Rovers is not a meritocracy. If it was Mowbray and Venus would have been sacked months ago. It's jobs for the boys. That's unforgivable at a professional football club.

I hope Mowbray and Venus walk out to an empty stadium even when restrictions are fully lifted. They deserve nothing more.
