Rice has been superb this season and has improved significant for England.  I would say he's very good. Henderson is Henderson.  A born leader. Phillips has done ok. Hes been a huge positive for Leeds. His passing is superb. I dont think Italys midfield for example is anything to write home about.  Jorginho and veratti. Neither are that special.  Portugal midfield isn't anything outstanding.  Germany midfield is alot better than ours . So is france's.  Dutch midfield is pretty good. Spanish midfield pretty good. My point is aside from France.  No team stands out in midfield.  That gives us some hope

Scotland's midfield is McTominay and McGinn. Not sure there's a world of difference between them and Hendo and Rice.

Id say it's a better team than 2014- 2018, probs on a par with 2008-2012, worse that 1996-2006. It's very weird that probably the worst squad we've had in decades, 2018, made it to the semis!

I think that was down to who we played to get there. As soon as we played a half decent team we were out.

Defence is pretty decent.  I wouldn’t call rice philips Henderson Bellingham rank average.  All pretty good or outstanding young players

Pretty good isn't going to win you a tournament. Bellingham is/will be quality, watching the others is like watching the Smallwood/Bennett 'pivot'...but without the flair😉

Not as good as Euro 96/WC98, obviously. Or on paper the ‘golden generation’, though they achieved bugger all, but surely better than some of the other teams that we’ve seen over the past 15 years?

I’d say he could have easily put a solid back line together, but like a certain other individual that has spent a lot of time on Teesside, constantly chopping and changing personnel and systems means we’ve never seen it.

Exactly, they won bugger all, and yet they were far better than this shower. Then you add in the manager factor, Venables and Hoddle were both good coaches. Venables was exceptional.

Who would be in that 'solid' defence? And there isn't an ounce of creativity in that midfield.

As usual when it comes to England  average players are being vastly overrated.

Tournaments are what matter, matches the WC and reaches at least a semi final, then that’s fair enough. Though shouldn’t England be finally reaching a final after all these decades?

If we don’t, then for me that’s a poor showing after five years in charge and with this group of players.

We have some good attacking players but this team isn't a patch on previous England teams of the last 30 years. The defence and CM are rank average.

So foden and Mount are dull? That team yesterday bares no resembles to what will start on Sunday.  I would have Mount grealish foden kane.  But we also have the pace of sterling rashford sancho. Plus saka as a wildcard.  One thing this England team isn't at full strength is dull . Just the manager

Were Foden and Mount playing in the match I was discussing?

Sancho, for all the hype, looks fairly average in an England shirt. Rashford is out of form.  Only Grealish stood out, which was my original point.

Not comparing talent or natural ability but the way he brings a game to life and the feeling when he gets the ball reminds me of how i felt watching Gazza play. He has to start for me

Gazza was good, but he was never a match for Nicky Reid. And Keith Hill getting stuck into him when we equalised is funny! Well worth a watch. Like a different world!

Good to see him signed up. Mini-moan now. Could be any reason as to why it's only for 3 years. But again it follows the trend of being slightly on the short side.

3 years is a good contract in the Championship. You only get 4 years if you hail from Middleboro and can't get in the team.

Well Coventry are keeping really quiet about whether he hit the apps needed to force the obligation from Coventry to buy. But if his contract is up I really don't understand. So he can come on a free to us, but Coventry owe them a fee even though his deal is up? Then you have the whole compensation conversation because of his age if he does leave and join somebody after his contract ends.

    Weird scenario

From reading up on this the agreement between Arsenal and Cov there was an option to buy for £750k if number of appearances were met, and certain other criteria such as fitness were met. Robins has said it was more of an 'obligation' to buy once those criteria were met so callumrovers was probably right in his post that Cov were reluctant to play him as it would trigger the obligation to buy. He seems to have injury problems and appears to have not been amazing at Cov so maybe they don't want to spend £750k on him.

If he's now out of contract they may try to get him on a free. It's also possible that the original obligation had a deadline that had to be met so perhaps Cov will only move for him on a free when that deadline passes, basically so they don't have to pay the £750k.

You didn't answer if Rovers have an interest?

Rovers are after Ben Sheaf. Dont know alot about him. Currently on loan from Arsenal at Coventry. Young, CM, keeps the ball ticking over.  Played 29 times this season in the champ before getting injured, now fit but Coventry wont play him as agreement in place that they will pay a fee to take him perm when he hits a certain amount of apperances. Contract expries May 2021. Potential free transfer, young, cheapish wages, championship experience.

    Room for growth.

Not allowed to put names on here, are you completely stupid?  They are children

    Touchy. I'm calling bullshit.

There are U18 match reports on Rovers website with the names of kids from the U14's, U15's and U16's.

    So, names and clubs?

All about opinions mate....you seem.to like taking the piss out of mine.  Good on you.👍

Bit sensitive lad considering you spend most days on here slagging the same player off and claiming you 'have' better 15 years old. Stop talking shite and maybe you wouldn't have the piss taken out of you.

He's been here and my opinion is he isn't a Championship midfielder.  I'd like to see the others. Wharton looked very comfortable before his injury and we played well with him in the team.

Can't say the same about Bucko..we.lose if he starts sadly. Out of his depth.

Maybe see if JFH would take Bucko on loan.😅 If Carter is good enough for him he's good enough for me

How's Mols getting on? Has he found a club yet after being released by our U23's? You rated him higher than Bucko so he should be rocking up in a Championship clubs first team soon. Keep us updated 🤣
