He mentions us being Premier league winners too. Refers to the shirt and the ground as super pretty and loves rose.

He refers to el Classico (the derby) and states that we hate Burnley to death, as that’s our Classico. That’s the bit I think is found funny, rather than the fact that they are in the prem and we are in the championship. For a couple of Chilean nationals, the concept of Rovers hating Burnley, is probably quite amusing.

    Thanks.

Posted this on the TM thread but it should really be on here Chilean TV visits Ewood in the latest escalation of Brereton-mania, plus they speak to Bradley Dack and a Tony Mowbray scribbling like a nutter on his tactics board.

He mentions the Bastards at 16:16 and then says they are in the Prem and Rovers are in the Championship. The fella in  the studio laughs. I demand to know why he laughed before a diplomatic incidence is declared. Can @LordBaltimore translate please😉

This is becoming Breretonmania. Chile has been visiting Ewood.

"Estamos an la sede del Blackburn Rovers, casa de Ben Brereton" = "We're at the headquarters/campus of Blackburn Rovers, home of Ben Brereton.

PS - Tony doing his impression of a demented Rolf Harrison with a marker and his tactics board is from 4:40 onward..

Rovers have been a stone in his shoes.  Rovers have had him for 3yrs and still dont quite know where to play him.  He is surrounded by mediocrity from top to bottom.  That is on Rovers.  He will thrive anywhere else, as he is showing.

Was it on Rovers when he fell over in the box with the ball at his feet and an open goal in front of him?

He's been very average for the most part. He's improved in the last 12 months. Lets not get carried away though about him thriving 'anywhere else'.

Anyway, Bradley Dack and Adan Armstrong have done ok. They've been surrounded by the same 'mediocrity'. Maybe Ben's just not as good as them?

I always wonder - are we looking at these players and deeming them to not be good enough for our high standards?

Or are we not even looking?

Or are we interested but unable to get any of these early deals done due to financial or incompetence reasons?

It's because we're in an embargo at the moment. But normally it's the jeans thing.

I've seen this guy play once, it was when Morecambe were live on TV in what I presume was the FA Cup. My memory is fooked so it was either this season or last.

Anyway, he stood out in the match as a cut above evryone else, and was pretty much as described here -small, wiry, quick and skilful. I'd never heard of him before and haven't seen him play since.

@JHRover another we've potentially missed out on.

My mate who is mates with him said he saw him at the weekend and wouldn’t give away any inside info about transfers etc., but was confident he’d be fit for just after the start of the season.

Still saying most of remainder of the year calendar year in the LT, which was the original prognosis.

Blackburn Rovers will look to use blossoming Man City relationship | Lancashire Telegraph

  8. LT saying we are currently in embargo, hence why we haven't signed anyone. Expected the embargo will be lifted next week when accounts reg'd with Companies House .... but Rovers still have to comply with P&S rules in order to avoid another embargo.

Also says any transfer fees paid for new players will probably depend on AA sale. Which was why it was important that we were able to move quickly on freebies before they all got snapped up. Sadly we couldn't.

BenDiez is now being looked at by Real Sociedad in Spain on the personal recommendation of chile's uruguayan coach Lasarte, who coached at Real Sociedad between 2009-11.

The Reds inserted several add-on clauses into the deal, including a sell-on clause on any profit Blackburn might make on any future sale.

    probably 40%

I believe we can do better than the likes of Cameron Jerome and Sepp Van Den Berg. I don't know if we will do better for sure, but I for one am glad that we're not scrambling around in June picking up the rejects from clubs in our league or below.

Last year I think 50% of our business was great, the other 50% not so great. I think we'll probably up with the same this year, and that's just a realistic expectation.

For a start Van Den Berg is from Liverpool. And you're just taking the piss by saying 50% of our summer transfer business was 'great'. If you'd have said 70% was shite you would have been closer.

Why is he still in a job? Literally no idea. At a guess, I suppose that he has earnt Venkys trust as Bowyer did by settling things down initially, which allows them to treat the club as an irrelevance again.

He's 4 years into the job, beyond the point where Bowyer got sacked for average results. And Bowyer never went on a run of 1 win in 15.

Who would be fighting his corner? Again, no idea. I dont get the impression that Venkys are mulling over his future. If there is anyone specifically fighting his corner, presumably Waggott?

Waggott, the man Mowbray recommended to the owners? Mmmm interesting.

But you said you didn't understand the anger and asked why his comments might be the final straw. I'm just giving you my perspective. All fairly rational wouldn't you say?

Anderlecht played in the Champions League group stage a few years ago. Facing sides like Paris St Germain, Bayern Munich and consistently finish at the top end of the Belgian Pro League. They're managed by Manchester City club legend and former captain Vincent Kompany, who is an idol of Taylor Harwood-Bellis'.

The reality is that Taylor was clearly never coming back here (or any hypothetical Championship side that he played for in 2020/21), it's not an indication of our ability to get deals done and it's not an indication of how much or how little he enjoyed playing here.

It's not about what a player wants, it's about what his parent club wants and what they feel is best. Anderlecht want him, that's the end of any ember of a chance Rovers had at getting him back.

So, like I said, a player who was here last season doesn't want to come back and would prefer to chance his arm at Anderlecht. Unless you're saying Pep has forced him to go and play in Begium, but he really wanted to come back to a team that finished 15th in the Championship?

I have long since given up trying to understand Venkys, nothing that they do is consistent or indeed logical. Maybe they do trust him like they apparently did with Bowyer, two managers who steadied things initially but outstayed their welcome, maybe they are busy worrying about the pandemic, whatever their excuse, it isnt good enough.

I can't disprove what you are saying either, nor do I want to appear to be totally relaxed about the situation. I personally think that your conclusion regarding his interviews is a little far fetched, whereas presumably you think that I am naive. I dont like the fact that Mowbray is at the club and havent for a while, but his interviews isnt where my frustration peaks. When we have just lost another game, when I look at the table and see us languishing, when he names a bizarre team selection, when we yet again fail to score in the first half, things like that provoke me more.

You didn't answer any of the questions:-

The question is therefore, why is he still in a job? Who would be fighting his corner and recommending he should be kept on? He must have support from influential people because he clearly isn't doing the business on the pitch. And if he knows he has their support is it beyond the realms of possibility that he knows he's unsackable and can therefore say whatever he wants?

Taylor Harwood-Bellis has gone to play under Vincent Kompany at Anderlecht. He was never coming back on loan here clearly, and I don't think any CEO, any manager, any HoR or any club who'd had him at Championship level in 2020/21 would have him again for 2021/22. So for me, the THB move to Belgium isn't an indication of our ability/inability to do deals or convince players to come.

Indeed, it's confirmation a player that was here last year doesn't want to come back.

    Just now, JoeH said:

Harvey Elliott is a special case, he may still come, but the likelihood is he won't. But again, that isn't because of our shortcomings in the boardrooms and backrooms. That'll be because they want to keep him in their squad or they want him to play Premier League football.

That's' been much confirmed by the Echo

Let the likes of Blackpool and Birmingham and Preston do their early deals. The best loan players are available right at the tail end of the window, and as many have pointed to, should be the cherry on top of your activity in the summer. If these clubs are making loan signings in June then I think it says a lot about their plans and budgets for the window ahead.

Only 1 of those players mentioned was a loan signing (Van Den Berg) The others are free's.

And I'm pretty sure it says absolutely nothing about their budgets, it just says they've moved quickly to sign players who were available.

  15. Just now, JoeH said:

The quality of these players in question is pretty sub par. I would hope we can do better. Both Elliott and THB last year were far superior deals and the better loanee's come later on in the window and sometimes even later on in the season.

Izzy Brown: Sheffield Wednesday fans thought he was tosh, and this feels like his 17th loan move.

Josh Bowler: A bit of a weird one. Been at a few different clubs and never produced at first team level, now 22.

Sepp Van Den Berg: Was at PNE last year and looked really average, better than Branthwaite? Maybe about the same level.

The quality of Trybull, Branthwaite, Pears and Douglas was sub par.

Like I said, I'll look forward to us signing better than the ones I mentioned.
