  1. I struggle to call borrowing other teams players "great" signings. His signings have been very hit and miss, or completely non existent in areas. The main problem is he can't get the best out of them.
  2. Unfortunately this is about to end sourly for a man that did some great work for Rovers. He should have been fired before now. It's become very uncomfortable.
  3. Looking like Tony might scrape another victory on the possession front tonight. I wonder if he’s had a trophy made for the end of the season?
  4. We have one of the worst managers in the league. Absolutely no surprises here. The signs were there since October. What it has done is highlight the ownership issues the club has yet again. A corner I'd hoped we'd turned but seemingly not. I don't know where we go from here. Thankfully some high earners contracts are up in the summer which simply has to free up some smaller permanent transfers to be done, ideally by a manager that can put a defence together. It's going to be another case of 5 - 6 signings needed simply to achieve mid-table. Unless Venky's plan to spend millions (???) In my opinion we'll have even less chance of promotion next year which makes this season completely unforgivable. It has been a disaster from the playing surface to the dugout. Whoever is responsible for the pitch to become like it has and for the current manager still being here is completely to blame. You get out what you put in and unfortunately with Rovers corners are constantly cut. You can't fluke your way to promotion with the help of Premier League clubs that are doing it properly, you have to do it all properly yourself.
  5. That's Bristol City and Cardiff both finishing above us.
  6. Blaming Nyambe's injury on outside pressure is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard from a Rovers manager. He shouldn't have been in charge today.
  7. Another 3 points on Mowbray's possession board. Looking really comfortable for him now up there.
  8. So, we haven't played well, the results haven't been good enough but the possession stats are. Imagine expecting to keep your job because of that. How about you publicly accept the performances haven't been anywhere near the required standard, bollock the players and demand more from them... and yourself!
  9. How can you turn to stats when we haven't played well since October? 🤣
  10. Won't be watching sadly due to the manager. Didn't watch Wednesday's mess either. As a fan I'm perfectly happy to watch us lose games we are expected to lose. I'm not happy to watch players underperform with a passive manager on the sideline, like we have done since October.
  11. What about the win at home to Millwall? The last minute goal from Armstrong. Millwall could have easily won that game 4-1. It was an appalling performance, December 2 and a win. I couldn't believe we won it. The previous game was Barnsley, we won 2-1 here is a quote from the site's match report Nov 28 "Although Rovers weren't at the races in the first half". He cannot get the best out of any squad, regardless of its quality. We have been underperforming since November. The manager is simply crap, nice enough guy but absolutely terrible. He's making some of the most promising kids in the country look substandard. Last season other clubs were envious of our squad, pundits admired the options and it was significantly better this year. How he hasn't been fired already is beyond me. As Nixon says he's well protected and the fans not being in the ground is helping him cover up some horrendous games of football. Somebody higher up needs to intervene this week.
  12. Gallagher is a useful sub that needs selling when the opportunity arises. Any top 6 side in the division would see that. We're talking about him so much because Mowbray has been picking the wrong team for months now. If he starts scoring in games off the bench as a centre forward, then give him the occasional start in the role. If not, he can continue to work on improving his first touch in the reserves.
  13. It's a dangerous game when your manager hires your CEO. A change should have been made in December, most fans could see it then and the season might have even been turned around. Mowbray isn't the only person that needs to go.
  14. It would be interesting to know how many £10s Tony Mowbray has lost the club this evening.
  15. I haven't mentioned set pieces but we definitely have major problems scoring and defending them. That's not solely down to Mowbray but he and his staff undeniably have a part to play. I'm sure there are plenty of average height, well drilled teams in the world that could have handled that cross. Pros know exactly what needs to be done on set plays if they're lacking in height, ours aren't doing it. The poor performances are leading to individual and collective errors.
  16. The playoffs were a realistic goal this season and we should be putting up more of a challenge. I completely understand why there's a fear amongst fans to change the manager. Ultimately it's because they care about the club, so I'm not sure why you're getting a hard time for that. Do I think we're underachieving in terms of the quality of the squad and performances? Yes, massively and since November. In terms of league position I think we're actually overachieving given the standard of those performances. They've been pretty abysmal since the 3-0 win at Preston. The reality is we're underperforming on a weekly basis, even when we win and because of that we'll fall short come the end of the season. The QPR and Preston losses were coming. If I were the owners I wouldn't back Mowbray with any more funds as he's not getting the basics right. That can only result in one thing and it will come, it's just a matter of when. I'd take someone temporary in charge now and see how all of the players do playing in their best positions from now until the end of the season. I want a manager that overachieves and at the very least gets the best out of his squad.
  17. So we should forever accept mediocracy and underachievement because of a greater fear instilled by our owners that "things could be a lot worse"? This seems to be largely the reason some fans have left for keeping Mowbray in charge. Definitely not an idea I can get behind.
  18. I have a bit of sympathy for the players, it's a squad with talent that's been let down right from the very top through to the manager and the pitch. They deserved a better manager and a new pitch at Christmas. The decision not to change either right away is proving costly, as expected. Mowbray out but is anyone really listening?
  19. The more I think about Saturday, the more I realise it was a complete tactical screw up with a very strong squad available. It's not looking good for the remainder of the season. March in particular under Mowbray is looking bleak, that said I still don't think there's an obvious replacement out there. We're going to have to accept a mid table finish this year and hope a new manager is brought in right as the season ends. The pitch and non-playing staff should be the main focus of investment this summer. The owners must deliver on that front otherwise we'll never make the grade and our talent will continue to be wasted. Over to you Venky's.
