  1. A signing like that would go completely against our model. As they said earlier this summer we want to get young exciting players in who can be developed and sold on for profit. Every championship club bar the parachute payment's clubs will be the same. Unless they go hell for leather and throw everything at trying to get promoted. The problem is money made being reinvested. We shall see when/if Diaz goes how much the management is given to strengthen if any at all.
  2. People are missing the point with hirst. Whatever happens this season if he has a good season we sign him on already agreed terms. After which we are free to then either sell on if we choose or keep the player here. Think of jovic the lad who signed for Frankfurt a couple of season's back. Then was immediately sold on for more than double what they paid to Madrid. Or he does nothing goes back to Leicester and bar the wage contribution we have lost nothing. Every transfer is a gamble whether it's a couple of thousand or a hundred million. This is a lot better than previous loans where players have done well here to earn themselves a move elsewhere. That only benefits the player and the parent club.
  3. Sort of premier league related. Is there a fantasy football (official premier league one) topic on the brfcs forum? And if so where. Cheers
  4. He'd do better over in la Liga in my opinion. Look how poor he started here when he was immediately under pressure from the fans/press given the amount we paid. As soon as he got away from that and enjoyed himself playing with Chile. He was like a new player Everton might pay better but imagine the pressure he'd be under from day one. They are already being tipped for another relegation struggle.
  5. 😂 Serves me right for assuming. He's certainly not as talented of a football as Diaz in any event.
  6. Maupay in a similar position to Diaz contract wise. Don't think he ever scored 22 goals in the championship either. Plus he's older, with less potential both ability wise and sell on. Nor is he a full international with a massive fan base to potentially tap in to. We as a club should've done far more with that by the way when diazmania kicked off. And they're paying 15 million for him. We should be getting at least that if not more.
  7. Vale shouldn't be starting games for me. I think a 15/20 minute cameo late in a game, against some tired legs he could score. Once he gets a goal hopefully he will kick on.
  8. Yeah don't see how that affects us. Either they want van hecke or they don't. If they don't fancy either then both go. Theyve got more than enough to bring in another quality centre back if needed. I'd argue they're one of the best ran clubs in England at the minute. Very jealous and I expect them to surprise everyone this season especially the good start they've had.
  9. The same could be said for van hecke and the whole squad for that matter. Despite obviously the Birmingham bit, at the end of last season . Anyway I would love him back and think he is exactly what this squad is lacking. A bit of fight and desire. Just hope we dont end up desperate and Brighton have our pants down. I think a loan with obligation to buy dependant on how we do this season would be the way to go. And if he signs a new deal on 20k (four times his current wage) a week we should pay the lot to bring him here.
  10. Jesus Christ. I don't mean they gave everyone a bank holiday and unveiled a statue. Just that he had a good loan spell here not so much at Birmingham. But he was seen as a steady championship striker who was still relatively young. People certainly weren't opposed despite what people say now with hindsight. I'm using him as an example of what can happen when a player comes back second time round. Chapman people loved when he came initially on loan. When he came permanently people wanted more of the same and it never happened.
  11. Whatever was paid I remember the general feeling being that bringing gally back was a good move. I expect jpvh to be brilliant if he came back but it isn't guaranteed.
  12. Going back a few years now, I remember how excited people where when Sam Gallagher came back. He's had decentt spells but on the most part been massively disappointing. If this even comes to fruition I hope we don't have our pants pulled down. That said we're desperate for defenders and it isn't my money.
  13. Mental that Anthony Gordon is being priced at 60 million plus and we can't get a quarter of that for Diaz. Even with his contract situation being what it is.
  14. Am I missing something and I know it's only rumors and paper talk at this point. But why would van hecke choose Sunderland over us, unless we're not in for him at all? Sorry if I'm behind but just been reading about it now.
  15. Yeah if dack doesn't start next game then clearly there's something gone on. Big week ahead transfer wise. The manager is saying as politely as possible we need players in.
  16. Don't think we expected 3-0 but I thought we'd get beaten today. Think the result at reading makes it worse too. Signings needed. It's better we get this wake up call now than next month when it's too late. Hopefully we can get some quality in 🤞🤞🤞
  17. Khadra and that anel lad to score. Dack and Diaz to score for us. 2-2 game of the season 🫠
  18. He was getting alot of assists at Crewe. Mainly from set pieces to be fair to whoever scouted him.
  19. Surely with Travis and Buckley to extent playing fairly deep that will allow both fullbacks/wingbacks to push further up. Either way I'd rather have styles in any role or position over pickering right now. Best he's done all season is when he went to centre back last Sunday.
  20. Yeah look how well his mate is doing on the right of a back four. Absolutely absurd that he can't do the same on the left. He's far too good for league one and someone is going to get a bargain. Hopefully something can happen today and give the fans and players a lift after the other night. Even though anyone signed won't play tomorrow, it'd be a positive going into a tough game tomorrow. Let's hope for a bounce back
  21. Our only hope is that heckingbottom is a terrible manager. They've got by far the better squad.
  22. Yeah dack used to be our match winner but sadly he just isn't the same player any more. Hopefully this forces their hand because so far especially Sunday, we got away with a threadbare squad. Seeing us still top should be encouraging for any player coming in. Let's just hope they didn't watch last night.
  23. Pickering was awful but the so were most of the team last night. Brittain is light years ahead of him. He never goes forward with the ball but can't defender either. We looked tired in the first half and once they scored their confidence sky rocketed. Second half was slightly better the first 15 mins or so. When we don't take our chances though of which we don't creat many. We will always struggle. I think it's clear from last night we won't get the few chances we've been cresting so far. We need some quality bringing in. We've two weeks to do so and I'll reserve judgment on Broughton until then.
