Ashley Phillips - signs a new deal
Sweaty Gussets replied to Sparks Rover's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Ash Phillips contract latest as Blackburn Rovers schedule talks to finalise new deal - LancsLive Sounds promising. -
'Snapped his leg'? It was an innocuous coming together that the Burnley lad made a meal of. He then had a little tantrum (probably because hew was embarrassed about going over so easily) and recklessly barged over an innocent party. That's how I saw it.

Not sure that's true, they bid for Anel, we just couldn't afford his wages. And we've also signed two for cash. I'm sure there's money there, they just can't spend it cos the players they want can get better money elsewhere. And Lambert's departure had nothing to do with transfer money available to him. He left because there was no structure in place above him and he was left being a spokesman for a dysfunctional club, just like he was at Villa under Lerner. That's from the horses mouth.

Training Ground Guru | Gregg Broughton: How to judge the success of an Academy Found this article on GB. Funny for this quote when a regional youth dev officer turned up at Luton 10 years ago to audit their Academy: As our youth development office shared a door with the first team office, manager Mike Newell was sat in the room when the rep came in. Newell greeted the rep’s arrival with the words, “What the f**k is he doing here?” Our visitor kept his nerve and politely explained that he was there to complete a report on the youth section. Newell’s reply, which I will never forget, was: “When you have scored the fastest hat-trick in Champions League history you can come here and tell me how to run our Academy. Until then, f**k off!”

Love the fact they were separated by a small metal fence and 1 steward yet didn't have the guts to jump it and get stuck in. They frightened an old couple though so they had a 'proper result'. Tw*ts. Su Su Suicide 🙂

JDT knew the job, he referenced the fact we need to build a sustainable club built on 'adding value' through developing signings, and developing the youth. He knows we have a limited budget, he's acknowledged that a few times. GB also called it a healthy budget, so we aren't skint, as thr signings of Brittain and Szmodics have proved. The problem seems to be we can't attract players to the club who the manager wants - Anel, Davies, Giles. JVPH (?). Khadra (?) JDT can rightly say that isn't his job. He can then lay the responsibility for the team's failings at the feet of DoF. This seems to be where we are at. So JDT is essentially blaming his boss, who in turn is avoiding all responsibility by refusing interviews. A strong CEO would step in at this point....

Precisely. I fear the worst. JDT has everything to prove as a Head Coach. Being good with the media isn't enough. -

Rich Sharpe on yesterday's match:- 'The limitations to the performances can easily be placed at the door of a lack of options, but supporters can still be disappointed with what they have witnessed. Rovers were out-gunned, their shift to a back three gave them no out-ball and at times had the look of a 5-5-0. It was very much a containing job, Lewis Travis going man-to-man on Sander Berge in the opening stages and with Sam Szmodics dropping in to mark Oliver Norwood, Rovers didn’t have an out-ball on the occasions they did win it back. The players worked so hard off the ball that when they won it, the passes were safe, often ending up back at the feet of goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski, under pressure, which allowed the wave of United’s pressure to continue' If Mowbray had gone to Sheff Utd to contain, fans would have been rightly furious. -

Agree on not risking Ayala. I'd play Pickering and an U23 CB at the back, along with Batty at LB and JRC at RB (if he's fit).
