The manager likes him for reasons explained previously. We all know he isn’t the most effective attacker but he does what Eustace requires him to do in other areas of the pitch. Hence the new contract.

The manager sets out in every game to get a clean sheet. That’s his MO. Hedges is very good at providing defensive cover in front of the full back on either side of the pitch. That’s his value, and so he meets the manager’s requirements. I also think he’s generally a waste of space going forward, but he seems to be better when he’s on his natural side of the pitch. He’s actually started putting a few decent crosses in recently.

The manager rates him which is what matters.

He’s created an incredibly well drilled defensive unit out of a team that was leaking goals at an alarming rate under the previous manager, and that contains Defenders and a GK that most on here thought were shit. He’s reinvigorated our previously unfancied captain into the marauding CM that he was when he burst onto the scene, and developed his midfield partner from Norway into one of the best players in the Championship. Cantwell has been brought in and he’s getting performances and endeavour out of him. He’s eking the best out of some limited attackers. We’re winning games and keeping clean sheets. We’re massively overachieving. You could say he’s doing ok! He’s the perfect manager for us considering our financial predicament and dickhead owners. Now if you could just let us have Jay Stansfield on loan we could have a real chance of staying in the top 6!

He was well supported at times during his 4/5 years in charge. Nobody else had the luxury of spending £5m and £7m strikers.

Don’t agree that Eustace has ‘many options’. He has more than JDT had but it’s still a squad low on quality in comparison to the squads Mowbray had at his disposal. In fact, thinking about it, Eustace doesn’t have the likes of Szmodics and BBD to call on which JDT had. There’s a bit more depth to the squad this season though. JE doesn’t have a bench full of 12 year olds like JDT had at times last season. Which all goes to show what a phenomenal job Eustace is doing, and what a terrific job JDT did until it all fell apart in his last 2 months.

Yes, Travis has been very good this season. It obviously helps playing alongside someone of the quality of Tronstad, as I’m sure you’ll agree.
