v Swansea City (a) - 20/1/26

He made the list and he is aligned. He is not our smallest or biggest problem. He is part of THE ONE PROBLEM called Venkys. -

So here we are - facing Swansea and having to start Alebiosu (with a high risk of him getting injured) because our options on both RWB and LWB are so poor that without Alebiosu, we will probably lose. We can't afford to lose this one. With Norwich regaining form under Clement, it will probably be a fight between us, Oxford and Portsmouth on who gets to follow Sheff Wed down. It looks like Oxford have recruited fairly well and could get a new manager bounce, whilst Mousinho is expecting quite a few through the door at Portsmouth as well. I had us in 23rd in my table prediction, and I sincerely hope I was wrong. -

Well, well, next time I travel to Ewood, I'm going to Scotland? 🙂 (Sorry, I ruined it all for you.) -

Has anyone seen enough of Jørgensen to give any indication that he is a quality player? One full season in the highest division in Denmark and the rest played in the Danish second tier? Someone in Bodø/Glimt must have seen something in him, and someone in Bodø/Glimt must have seen it fitting to let him leave... -

Our 'war chest' will be used to buy new tea cup holders for the awayday coach Waggott bought us and some extra pennies for Trevor, the groundsman. -

He will be like a new signing for us, and very versatile. He can play left wing back, and as any one or both of the two strikers we wanted. -
But when he eventually returns, it will be like a new signing!

6 days and 5 hours until we play Swansea away. Surely that must be a game we should aim to get something from. How many training sessions will our new left wing back and striker(s) get with the team before this one? -

Who cares about Gueye when we have snakes crawling all over our club? Gueye > Gestede. -

But we can all agree that Ismaels far worst attribute is being aligned with those bastards? -

I think Norwich will get past us. And then the problem was that away at Portsmouth, we looked no better than them. You see the injury situation as something external. In contrast, I see it as something internal, i.e. to do with a) our recruitment b) totally running players down during games and potentially c) our training methods. -

You think he'll keep us safe. I think he'll take us down. -

Ok. I want someone in that can save us from being relegated. I know I'll not get it. -

I want a fighter in, not a victim. I want someone who can add something to what everyone can do: analysing stats. And I totally expected us to be in a relegation fight based on our summer dealings. As Ismael stated in his Q&A, he is very much hands-on in the recruitment process. That's one of the reasons why I want him gone. I know it is not going to happen. But that does not alter the fact that Ismael is a piss poor manager. -

This quote sums up everything that is wrong with Ismael: "As I say, Axel (Henriksson) is running 15k today" Every decision is taken based on statistics. So much that it really doesn't count as a decision anymore. Everything has gone wrong since he was appointed. Why does he need to go? Because we are in a relegation fight and we need someone who can help us win that. You say that we won't appoint anybody better? You are right, Gestede and Pasha are horrible. Can't you be bothered by Rovers anymore? I totally get it. You say that the real issues lie elsewhere? You are right. I hate Venkys from the deepest and darkest place in my soul. But still. Ismael needs to go. He is one of the worst managers we have had in the last 25 years, and I want him and his list of excuses nowhere near the dugout on matchday. -

Somewhere between Henriksson and Telalovic ability wise? Or closer to Ennis type potential? -

But knowing that he will not land another job in the Championship, he will probably put up with just about anything. My prediction: the day he leaves Rovers is the day he has decided to move back to his family in France. -

Had to prioritize unrolling all the toilet paper rolls and then rolling them back up again, so I didn’t get to see much of the second half or the extra time. How did our star, Baradji, play? -

If you think about it, it's quite an achievement to find as poor players as Henriksson, De Neve, TGH, and Tavares, never mind all of them in only one window. -
The January 2026 Transfer Window
Kjell replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Classic Venky Window this. Open with some news from Nixon that we are looking to bring in a player with some potential. In reality, we are offering the club something like one-fifth of their valuation of the player. We then end up with someone like Paul Mullin, or Cauley Woodrow, or... When the argument in October/November was that it would be stupid to sign a free agent because he would not be up to speed to help the team in 2-3 months, what is the difference between signing somebody (on loan?) at the end of January? How well have we done the last two windows? 1/10. And that's me being generous. It's disgraceful behaviour of everyone involved. But we already knew that disgraceful is Rudy's modus operandi...- 5437 replies

Very honest, that Val! The only reason he answers "honest" in interviews is that he is too stupid to entertain the idea of keeping something away from the press, our opponents, etc. might be smart. I much prefer my managers to speak in cliches to the media, and save the honesty for the players and backroom staff. -

And maybe decisions are made for reasons other than those related to football.
