Since we aren't signing anyone, who are the unlucky (lucky?) two or three who get sold or unregistered?

Yes but mutual consent also probably means we are going to keep paying his salary until he finds a new employer, why else would he agree, especially if he has signed a NDA too.

Good call if I say so myself, such an obvious play by Suhail to distract happy clappers from his actions; fire the manager and hope for a bounce and spotlight to go away.

Need to clear some bodies first but I can see them trying to sign one more player, they need distractions from fan anger. Suhail is a master of self-preservation and he will want a body in to point to as progress alongwith firing Ismael.

Only at Blackburn would we place ourselves in a position where we sack or let manager walk on deadline day after spending the whole month planning for him to be in charge and building squad accordingly. Make no mistake he is deservedly gone, but if that was the case it needed done two week ago and new man brought in with time to change squad. Now the new manager can say "nothing I could do, no time to get in bodies we need" and Suhail will have an excuse not to fire them when we get relegated. Not to mention anyone who will come to us now will probably be worse than Ismael...

What is the point of an 18 month deal? Can only mean he has signed a low-wage deal to put himself in window and find a better team, and we hope to flip him for a profit when we get relegated this summer.

What formation are we even planning for now? If we sign Cadamarteri we'll have four strikers, so you'd think 3-5-2 but even Ismael knows De Neve can't play wing-back on left, and in any case, why then pursue Afolayan who's a winger? If we are going back to 4-2-3-1 permanently why sign Cadamarteri who won't play behind Gudjohnson and Ohashi as 9? Or is Ohashi back-up to Cantwell as 10, with Morishita, Jorgenson and Afolayan competing on wings? It makes no sense even for us.

Can only assume we are waiting to sell Alebiosu before desperately scrambling to sign anyone, usual deadline day shenanigans incoming.

My read was that Mowbray was successfully able to sideline Suhail, going directly to Venkys, bringing in his ally Waggot. Really doubt Suhail would be pushing for him to come back; I would guess Venkys are saying "we liked that Mowbray fellow get him back to save us"

I'm not arguing that he is what we need in a relegation fight, but I have always advocated picking up top League 1 talents, which Afolayan was, hence earning his move to Germany. Bundesliga 2 is better than people give credit for, Telalovic was Bund 3 which is a big step down, but in St Pauli's promotion season there were teams like Hannover, Hamburg, Schalke etc (not as good as past, but still big clubs). He wasn't awful last year in Bundesliga either, played 34 games. As I say, in isolation I like him as a signing, but he's not who I would have signed to save us this season.

Assuming we get Afolayan over the line, I will actually be fairly pleased in isolation. At his best he's a direct winger who actually scores, and has pace. Clearly struggled to make jump from Bundesliga 2 to 1, and or lost favour with manager, but he was electric in their promotion season in 23/24. Doesn't make up for our usual incompetence and that he's not played for 3 months is obviously a worry, he would have been a perfect signing in the summer rather than now, but I would hope he will still be up to speed quick given he's not been injured.
