We'll see Neekoy, you may still end up being right. They haven't had too many challenges and we'll see how he manages when the wheels come off a bit. They were basically untested domestically and it wasn't until the semi-final and final that they faced serious opposition in the champions league and he was tactically out-thought in 2 of those 3 games. I think a lot of us would find it fairly easy to manage the side that they have now, what makes or breaks managers at top clubs is when they have to change the side a bit or when a batch of players lose form. Too soon to say that he's made the grade.
Maybe Eddie, but the first Manager to claim the treble in Spain's history and he did it in his first year. I thought he would be given six months so I was wrong but happy to admit it, they are playing beautiful football and even better quality then when Rijkaard was there

Isn't that from March?
The latest blowup from Moratti will change everything IMO
Back to Mourinho, wtf is Laporta thinking, Guardiola may be a club legend but is a drug cheat and doesn't even walk in Mourinho's shadow as a coach.
Right on one front, but oh so so so vvvvveeeeryryyy wrong on the other.

Well I dont blame him sticking to the contract they gave him. More fool them for offering it in the first place.
Here Here.
It was always about money. He wants to own his own A-League club back in Australia and needs the dollars to make that happen.
This is surely dead and buried by now though?

Anyone still arguing that Messi wouldn't be as good in the Prem? He was superb tonight and showed Ronaldo how to influence a game.
You certainly will have no arguement from me.
Now that he has scored maybe some will now rate him.

Bloody Liverpool

Let's put it this way, I'll never get that two hours and forty minutes back ....
Saw teh Watchmen today, I agree with another poster I think if I was a big fan of the graphic novel I probably would haev loved it, but I kinda too came out a bit hom hum.
There was some awesome stuff during, the fights scenes were well choreographed (digitally enhanced), there was heaps of violence and blood which was awesome.
If you want to enjoy this though before you go in, this is NOT a superhero movie, this is a story driven timeline about a group of vigilantes and an alternative reality based on cold war scenarios.
and enjoy the big blue cock

Saw CHOKE the other day, bloody fantastic, like a Wes Anderson film without the quirkiness. Left me with the feeling like a mix of watching The Grifters and Garden State
Also avoid OUTLANDER unless you want a complete brain switch off for close to TWO FREAKING HOURS, James Caviezel is a hack.

No-one in the world can touch Ronaldo, expect maybe Messi.
All 3 are completely different players though. Rooney will never be a 30 goal a season man like Torres, but then again Torres couldn't link play and go through the all the work that Rooney does in 90 minutes.
Your infamous English anti-bias aside neekoy, you have to admit that an on-form Rooney is as good as anyone in the world bar Ronaldo and Messi. His form this season has been scintillating.
Didn't say he wasn't outstanding, I think he is the fourth best/most valuable player in the PL, just happens to be behind Torres, Gerrard and Ronaldo.
As I said before, he has pulled his head in quite considerably to what he was like 18 months ago, has to be commended.
EDIT: And I am not anti-English. If I was I wouldn't have two bloody Englishmen in my top four players, sheesh.
-
He has certainly pulled his head in a lot in the last year or so, compared to what he was like that is.
Still would like to fnd that thread where people said he was better then Torres and Ronaldo though.

FINALLY watched the Dark Knight
Probably the closest thing to perfect I have since Pan's Labyrinth

Saw "Street Kings" on DVD last night ... wasn't too impressed.
Keanu Reeves - not his best performance
Hugh Laurie - woefully miscast
Forest Whittaker - bit of class, helps lift the film
Plot - didn't exactly see it all coming a mile off, but some of it was pretty obvious.
A major let-down, really. Was expecting so much better.
Got to agree, there is nothing worse then a writer/director having a decent premise and storyline for 3/4 of a movie then not knowing how to finish a well rounded tale

QUOTE (Ste B @ Aug 20 2008, 18:55 ) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>This really was a genuine advert. Not so clever now.
That is classic, I wonder how long it took for the to pull the ad

I know, but it was a 12A film and I watched it with my daughter, and we smuggled in the chocolate & drinks (you know how they say "no food or drink to be brought in" and then they try and sell you enough rubbish food to fill Ewood) and we had a laugh. Well, we thought it was quite funny & we enjoyed it.
I suppose it depends on the circumstances. It wasn't "One Flew Over The cucko's Nest." but it fitted the day.
Cheers
Colin
Sadly I certainly felt like McMurphy by the end.

Couldn't help myself since I normally love Meyers schtick but THE LOVE GURU is horrible, absolutely horrible.
ABS may like it but I actually found the Brittany segment in Spartans funnier then anything in this trash
Another Terminator film??!!!I guess they will absolutely not stop until every last penny is squeezed out that franchise and people forget how good the 1st 2 were. It's like all the horror films that have 27 sequels of diminishing quality (e.g. Halloween, Nightmare on Elm St., Hellraiser).
To be honest there wasn't much closure from the third installment so hopefully this will tie everything in together and leave it at that

At the end of the day I want Rovers to win the title (again) Sparky was never going to bring us that, neither will Ince, but keep us finishing top half with a european run every now and again, maybe pick up a minor trophy and hopefully one day we will attract a Manager who can take us to the pinnacle again.
-
This blog reminded of just what a good manager we have lost.
Sven is a better manager then Hughes, in fact by quite a distance
Whilst I appreciate what Hughes did for us I could have seen City breaking into the top 4 on a regular basis and challenging for major silverware in the next 5 years under Sven, Hughes will definately keep them regular top half finishes with a run at the top 6 on a regular basis
He wasn't just a good manager, he was a fantastic manager, but the ramblings of a city supporter who obviosuly sees the world in pale blue doesn't tug on my heart strings in the least

Just purchased an LG 96cm HDTV
From what I understand the FULLHDTV is a waste of money because the only time you get the advantage is when you play Blu-Ray.
My advice from the 'inside' is that Blu_ray ain't going to be around for much longer.
Buy the HDTV, when it's buggered in 5 years (yes 5 years) go for the digital equivalent after that.

Nixon's a hit or miss tabloid idiot working off scraps whose career needs 1 in 20 "exclusives" to contain half a grain of reality.
Nice

Stretch? No, you're right its not. I just don't understand why any right-minded person would ever want to combine those two. I don't know if anyone could tell, but I hated Hellboy.
But this isn't Hellboy, this is Hellboy II
Visually much more impressive
-
How a cheap imitation to an action film in Hellboy and an artistic masterpiece in Pan's Labyrinth ever crossed paths and then merged is boyond me. A monstrosity to movies.
Well considering Guillermo Del Toro directed both I don't think it is too much of a stretch

What are you talking about, he said he wanted to leave. The club didn't sell him, he got on with and it and gave his best season in the blue and white halves.
He handled it very professionally.
I can't believe still wanting to vilify him for wanting a pay rise? His employer couldn't give it to him, another employer could, he left. How long do you expect players to hang around (loyalty) for giving them a chance in the PL?
