All time classic of all time! Not 'alf mate! -
Looks like everyone desperately wants to say "thanks for the effort but you were cr*p." but doesn't want to say it without dressing it up a bit.
-
Cheers Paul, thanks for all your hard work and all the best. A player with a fantastic, never-say-die attitude.

Immediately brought to mind Brian Kidd at his lowest ebb. Terrible days. Maybe we won't see Birmingham back in the top flights for a long time. -

You could put a red rossette on a chimp and the people of Blackburn would vote him into office. John Prescott is a disgrace to public office. But no-one raises an eyebrow because it's par for the course. Westminster is just far too comfy and teh whole damn thing needs shaking up. The rot starts at the top with a Prime Minister who has only a passing regard for teh purpose of Parliament. I would say that the sooner he goes the better, but as Gorgeous George says, Tony and Gordon are two cheeks of the same bum. -

Makes me laugh! If you don't want to know the sordid details of this story do not click this link, which is entitled, 'Simon Hughes bugg...'. Hysterical. ... and what's the big story, "Politician turns out to be free-loading hypocrite", well, strike me down, what a shocker. We should all be so very surprised, before we go back to vote for a mainstream party in a few years time. -
There was talk that Scolari had been threatened by militant gays after his talk of "If there was a woolly in my squad I'd bin him" when Brazil's manager. But that seems ridiculous.
-
That's a dislocation. I think "break" and "fracture" can be used interchangably. An open (green?) fracture is when the bone pokes out of the skin. I just hope Rooney's a quick healer. I'd put him in the squad anyways. And I'd certainly be taking Defoe now.

Contradiction in terms methinks. He's managed to complete two games in two years - that is farcical. For all his skill, he can't win games from the treatment room. He's one or two breakdowns from retiring I'd have thought. -
It's those stupid fricking fairy boots these gaylords flounce about in. They need to start playing in hob-nailed boots again.

Who puts them on the pitch? Who organises them? Who makes tactical substitutions? Who is the first to get the chop if the team doesn't perform? The manager. The success of the team is due, in some substantial part to the manager. If Sven Goran Dikineverybirdsen wins the World Cup with England it will be 80% England's World Cup and 20% Sweden's. I don't want some geezer taking charge of the team because it's just another job. It's got to be someone English who understands what it means to the country, who wants to do well in the job, because more than anything he is a fan of his own country. I don't actually think the job's that difficult. Not tactically. The club managers instill tactical sense in the players. International managers don't have the players that long to start messing about in that sense. Pick your best 11, get them in the right positions then get them to go and play. We don't need a foreigner on a massive salary to do that for us. I think foreign managers are over-rated and we should show more belief in those we have, it might open the flood-gates for English managers to get the top jobs. having said that, please not Curbishley, i just can't see him doing a good job.

If the English team is going to win the World Cup, then surely it is best to have the back-room staff English as well? Bringing in a foreigner (mercenary?) to get you the World Cup devalues it a bit if you ask me. None of Curbishley, McLaren or Sam really convinces since they have not managed a top-level club. Might as well go for McLaren as worked with Sven so there is some continuity. Or Peter Taylor.

Haven't we got to play them away yet? Savage will be hoping it's his last appearance at St Andrews. -

Read in the 'paper today that's he's only completed two games in two years. That is shocking. -

Latest news is that it may be sinking (subsiding). Could be the most disastrous engineering project ever? -

Did the government cock up on a sporting project before? Something lock? I do wonder if they're building the damn thing out of lego and mecano. You can slag off the contractors all you like, but who appointed them? The buck stops at the very very top and that means Sir Kurt Diego Millichip of the FA, he of the pulling balls out of a bobble hat FA Cup draw round five Stevenage Borough play Wasps. -

[Archived] Blackburn End Drummers ?
broadsword replied to ABBEY's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
But that won't happen though, will it? Something will fill the vacuum. Might take a bit of time but eventually people will start making a noise again. You might be able to hear the odd joke said 20 rows back again, you never know! Catch 22 - unless the crowd starts singing on their own and shows they can make noise, there is a case for retaining the drummers. But the drummers stop any attempts to start up songs by blasting out their monotonous "tune". -

Maybe they can't get a word in edgeways with the buggers as they constantly bang the flipping things. I'd be surprised if they could hear you even if you did. They should ship these fellas back to Africa and they can bang out the daily news on their tablas. Should keep 'em occupied. I've been sat quite a few rows ahead of them before and the din has still been horrendous (Spurs last year), what it must be like if you're sat immediately in front, God only knows. -

Always preferred "Afteryouso" but sadly it never caught on. -
Ali Dia wasn't a Souness buy, he was brought on trial.
-
Pretty much in agreement there. Some people are obsessed.
-
Are you saying we're not allowed to talk about a former manager Dave? Can we talk about Don Mackay, Bob Saxton, Jim Iley? Dally Duncan? Bob Crompton? Or is it just Souness? It was big news when he got sacked, why on Earth can't we discuss it? Mind you, given the demented nature of some postings, I see your point.
