Grayson - failed. One of the worst right backs I've ever seen. Nearly as bad as Caddis. I remember watching him once when he had to clear the ball long down the line several times. A standard playing requirement for most full backs. He put about six out of six out of play. I used to live just over a wall and a fence from a good standard works team's football pitch. I'd be there lots of times on my own in the evening practising that particular skill with three or four balls. Over and over again.
-
Yeah he was a top class centre half.
-
I agree about Perez, he looked a good signing but just our luck, he didn't settle. That sending off against Chelsea was one of the worst decisions I've ever seen.
-
I agree about the bench. It's a 17 man game these days.
-
And then it all went to shite. How many did he win after that ? How may truly awful players did he sign ? Even Coyle signed Charlie Boy. It's quicker to list the success stories Hodgson had - one, Stephan Henchoz and he'd managed him with Switzerland. I remember watching the Italian team he managed on TV. He had four top internationals playing in midfield, Javier Zanetti, Paul Ince, Youri Djorkaeff and Aaron Winter and they were bloody awful to watch.

What a talent he was when he first broke into the City team. Something must have gone badly wrong there.

If you're looking for a Graham replacement, which we need badly, we need to be looking for a player who is comfortable playing with his back to goal. Gallagher isn't that player. He's like Armstrong in that he likes to run onto the ball. For a really big guy he's not a particularly physical player and he lacks the ability to win contested headers. He may be ok heading the ball in isolation but how good is he with a big stump of a centre half climbing all over him. Surely if we have some serious money there are players out there more suited to our needs. Is there nobody on the scouting team with a passport ? We've signed a quick lightweight striker in Armstrong, why do we need another one in Gallagher ?
-
We aren't in a position to develop players, especially other clubs players. We need somebody who will come in and hit the ground running.

He's not the answer Chaddy.

New Kits
Tyrone Shoelaces replied to laughatthedingles's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Bloody hell, who designs these kits ? That Derby one is a shocker. -
He's not got the physicality to play there. He's not a " back to goal " player either.
-
You forgot to mention the worst shirts in living memory. It's as though the club had deliberately gone about reducing the " feel good factor ".
-
Chapman and Connor Wickham ? Lots of ability but how many games will they play. Two massive gambles fitness wise.
-
It's not always about who has the best squad, it's about who can get the best out of them. Rotherham were dead and buried when Warnock came him. He kept the same players up. Same with us after the Paul Ince disaster. We had one foot in the next division down. Big Sam kept us up comfortably.
-
Maybe the treatment room is full up at Palace and they need some other clubs physios to look after him.
-
He's not a " very good " player at our level, he's ok, no better than that.
-
That's true but I'm allowed to speculate regarding the relative abilities of the various teams in the league. Just my opinion of course. My youngest son watches our games on a medium I'd rather not discuss here. I get a full match report from him whilst I'm away. Where do you think we'll finish ?
-
The trouble with getting rid of the " non contributors " is that other teams know they contribute very little.
-
I'd rather have Gallagher than Wickham, at least Gallagher will play. Wickham was a very talented young player but he's made of glass.
-
No, I couldn't get a bus from Granada to Blackburn.
-
I was reading a long article in the paper about him at the end of last season. He's had a few injuries since he left Rovers that have effected his mobility. Given the fact he wasn't the best mover in the first place I'd give him a sweve.
-
I'm with Roversfan 99 on the Gallagher issue. He's just a taller version of Armstrong. Do we really need two players who can only play effectively alongside Graham ?
-
Anywhere in the bottom six unless we strengthen significantly soon.
-
Home draws are, that's for sure.

It's not easy to be a " bruiser " when the physical side of the game is being refereed out of modern day football.
