Can anyone recommend a fairly short read (say 100-200 pages long) i'm going to France in a few weeks and its only for 4 days. So i'm looking for something like a modern classic. Any recommendations? -

Hi Colin, how are things? I'm on the same wavelength as you with the Terry Pratchett thing, I can definatly see what you mean...total Surrealism. Have you ever read any of the other books by him like ;The Dalkey Archive or Best of Myles? also great reading. Cant help that think maybe The Dalkey Archive was a early blueprint for Third Policeman. -
Over the moon about this transfer. Benni is totally reliable and will stick a fair few in for us. I remember when Porto beat Chelski in the Champions League group stage back in 1994 in the first game against Mourinho. So we have the extra bonus of knowing he likes to play well against his former boss

read a book a few months ago called 'Life of Pi' written by Yann Martel. Its a great read, specially a good holiday read. Lent it to my mum when she went to Nice. Its a great adventure and an extraordinary story that keeps you interested all the way. Other than that books i can recommend strongly are ; The Third Policeman by Flann 'O Brien - Amazing Surreal literature with a major plot twist at the end for all you people who like your psychological endings. Told from a narrative prospective the narrator is witness to a whole host of strange happenings that occur in his local town/parish, after committing a massive robbery and murder he starts to realize him and his accomplice are witnessing their own personal hell. -

I so wish i was going to this game, i may even have to chance a ticket in the manchester city end at this rate. I do think we will win though, despite Cole and Vassell's current form. I think we are harder to beat than they are. Bellamy should be on target for us! -
It sold out before i even had chance to call up. So it goes without saying..that if anyone has 1 spare ticket i'll be there. If anyone has just 1 spare PM ASAP!
-
We'll be eating our words Sat though...just tempted fate. Like i did with Owen. Players like these always find it easy to score against us. Ie; the likes of Davies and whats the betting Stead gets his only goal this season against us?

Just like to say, i felt a justice had come on saturday. The last time we played united at Ewood... remember how we were robbed? lead 1-0 all the way upto added time that should have never been added. Then a certain Mr Smith blonde headed tart hand-balled it to te up Saha with the equaliser. Well we finished it on Saturday. feel glad for them they worked hard, lets hope they can now build and not underestimate WBA
-
So its not sold out yet? whats our allocation?
-
Any chance that anyone has a spare 2 tickets for this game on saturday. I held back at first when they went on sale cause i wasnt sure i was gonna make it. Its a shot in the dark i know and probably tickets have sold out but if anyone can help PM me. cheers!

Your right though, it wont make a difference who is up front right now. We lack creativity and Savage is not able to do this it would appear. Which makes me wonder what difference Bellamy ( as much as i like him) will make rather than Stead. I'm still looking forward to saturday. I am too loyal to do what many other people did and run away when the football aint too great. -

Well the lads have shamed us again. First game of the season, player sent off and 3-1 down. It's clear that we are in for more the same as last season( i hope im wrong) It's obvious that Dickov can only contribute to this game by going in there 2-footed. After what i thought was a pretty good pre-season, they have let us down on the day. Whats worse is we are more adapted to Premiership football than West ham are and we should have gotten a hold of this game today. -
..have you noticed he seems to also be spending money like its going out of fashion. I see Coco is now in talks too. Cant see him leaving for less than £4M

hahah! thats class I love Radiohead

"We could have won our last three games but lady luck's not shining on us." The guy is a complete joke. Its become the only thing he can ever say. hes worse than Alex 'pizzaface' Ferguson. I'm considering writing to some comedians to do a comedy sketch on him. If i got £10 everytime he blamed lady luck, i'd be the new Abramovitch

How Newcastle have finished in the Premiership in recent seasons: 2001/02 4th 2002/03 3rd 2003/04 5th They currently lie in 13th, with just 38 points. Newcastle now have to decide if they want to play in the Intertoto-bob Cup. The current squad are clearly not good enough to win the UEFA Cup, as last Thursday's humiliation against Sporting Lisbon showed. When Souness was appointed Newcastle manager, Freddy Shepherd told the media: "I won't accept that this is a transitional year for us. All the ingredients are here for success. Everything is in place at the club. Graeme is the man to take us a step further." Is going from 5th place under Bobby Robson to 13th place now "a step further"....? Thanks for pointing that out. So many times has this been highlighted..and the words i told you so always spring to mind. Whats funnier is that in a matter of hours rovers could well be ahead of Newcastle all being good with a win(touch wood) over Palace. Really think its time to lay to rest the souey bashing though...he was an arse and no doubt that we will have the last laugh.
-
I'm honestly not saying this to be biased but i truely dont think Andy meant to harm Robin. Although the end picture looks hilarious. I think the cheat put it on...
-
And you wonder why the players are so under pressure when he comes out with stuff like that! He really has a way with words and motivating his own players the only way is down im affraid souey
