  1. Well I don't know about where they do it to, but I've certainly never gotten one, of course there's no real point sending them over here though
  2. Well there's nowt better than telling people that they are getting old, for shifting tickets. Did Rovers ever think of sending some sort of personalised season ticket application pack to anyone from Lancashire who'd ever bought a ticket for Ewood? Personal experience tells me that such tactics are surprisingly successful, especially when dealing with the fickleness of people.
  3. Indeed, why on earth would you sign Paul Dickov when you have a time-travel machine and can go and buy players before they have achieved their potential?
  4. Me, I blame whoever made up the poll options, I'm between 1 and 2, think he's a fantastic signing who may well be the most important one we make, certainly pound for pound, not for his ability on the football pitch but for what he adds to the squad in terms of attitude and drive. Although of course he's not a remarkably succesful goal-scorer.
  5. He's young and looks good in some games, and then hardly touches the ball in others. Has experience though, been playing for Crewe for years. He would also cost a lot more than 100k though, it's a well known fact that he is/was a promising player. Now if Waggy had known this 5 years ago maybe we'd have something to talk about, but now you're looking at millions for a player who hasn't lived up to his early hype.
  6. He did play Heskey completely out of position on the left-wing and make him look even more inadequate than he actually was though. Rafa Benitez is similar to Martin O'Neill in management style and is exactly the sort of manager Liverpool need at the current time, will bring through skillful but hard-working players who will die for the club, and more importantly make them play far better than they actually are, and can also make some inspired signings.
  7. Marvellous signing, great little player who fights like a tiger, will also do a lot of good for the general attitude and moral in the squad and around the club. He's also cost us absolute peanuts, further proof of what Souness can do when he's forced to spend very small sums.
  8. We do have songs, just no one sings them. Think you're flogging a dead horse if you expect Ewood to keep going with a song past a couple of lines
  9. Or if they are doing the usual trick of magically extending the city centre to enhance the allure of their hotel.
  10. My point is > to reserve your seat you have to return your application by the 19th June. Yet they havent sent the application pack out yet. I didnt realise that date had been announced. Where has that officially come from? Why would the club put that date out if they knew they werent going to get the renewal packs out in time?! Lack of communication, blind optimism of the sort all management people have with regard the length of time getting stuff done takes. More likely they had decided on the date good and early so that people would know and so could avoid going on hols just at that time, and then forgot to change the renewal date when the card system implementation was delayed.
  11. Maybe we should ease the youngster in and then let Tugay leave? Hardly makes sense to be getting rid of a first team player because we've got a good young lad we want to sit on the bench for a few games.
  12. is O'Neill really proven, ok he got Foxes mid table and won a couple of micky mouse cups, but in Scotland you are either going to finish 1st or 2nd with Cetlic, there is not other place, you could buy average PL players and they would be a different class in Soctland e.g. Lennon, Thompson, Hartson. Liverpool is a job that O'Neill has not come close to, buy world class players to go with Owen Gerrard, Kewell. He can't go and buy average players and make the half decent, thats would not work at Liverpool. And what about his success with this team of 'average' players in Europe? He must be a brilliant manager if he can do that with a poor team mustn't he? Martin O'Neill is a top-class manager, he took a division one team in Leicester and made them a comfortable mid-table Premiership side, look what's happened to them since he left. He won a couple of 'mickey mouse' cups, bet you weren't saying that when Rovers won the same 'mickey mouse' cup. He is precisely the sort of manager Liverpool need, they already have some great players, all they need now is a manager to forge them into a team, maybe if he knows Kewell can play left-wing thus solving all Liverpool's problems in that area it might help too. Buying average players and making them half-decent is not what he's done, but if you mean that if he replicated his transfer style while at Celtic it wouldn't work at Liverpool, then you're wrong, that's exactly what will work.
  13. I'm very sorry to see Houllier go, his managerial ineptitude had seen one of the biggest clubs in the English game become potentially catchable for any team that got its act together properly for a year. When Houllier took over at Liverpool the club was in an excellent position to push on and challenge for title honours again, thanks to the sterling work done by Roy Evans and , yes, Graeme Souness, in clearing up the malaise that had hit the club after the phenomenally succesful sides of the 80's. Houllier has prevented Liverpool from achieving that promise during his reign of stupor at Anfield, he has spent more than a 100 million pounds on players who aren't fit to lace the boots of those that have come through the youth system under the tutelage of the staff put in place under Evans. He has also shown a predilection for buying his own countrymen and nationals of other french-speaking countries for large amounts of money , Diao, Diouf, Cheyrou, Sinama-Pongolle, Le Tallec, Arphexad to name a few, with the possible exception of diving not one of them has contributed anything to justify the inflated transfer fees, and no doubt inflated wages they are being payed. If Houllier gets within 10 miles of Ewood, it will signal the tolling of the death bell for our club, he's an unmitigated disaster when it comes to management, with a team containing strong willed leaders like Gerrard and Owen, he still can't get them to play as a cohesive force, what would happen to our bunch of mercenaries and hod-carriers under that fumbling? Sir Bobby seems to be losing his midas touch up in the dreary north-east, but don't forget the position 'prestige' managers like Gullit had left what is another potentially huge club in before his arrival, they were looking like certainties for relegation, one of the greatest players ever to wear a Newcastle, or Rovers, shirt, Alan Shearer, was dropped because apparantly, he was the most over-rated player Gullit had ever seen, was selfish, contributed nothing to the team, and scored goals but didn't win trophies. Pity poor Ruud forgot that Shearer had in fact won a trophy, whereas the egotistical Dutchman couldn't manage to keep afloat, never mind acheive success, with a squad that contained a player who could be counted on to score consistent goals.
  14. Isn't that the polite way of saying that you're not good enough to hold down any position regularly?
  15. Well, we have a team, probably not 11 though, you'd want to be putting it on the Friday/Saturday of a Premiership game if you wanted us to be turning up though, we've a hard enough job getting them to turn out for a game over here, never mind flying over to play Stanley.
  16. Good Choice.... Am I the only one who found this book a pretentious load of garbage ? Thank you. I thought I was the only one. Me three, I've read far worse, but it is vastly over-hyped.
  17. Not even, he's injured at the moment.
  18. I am gutted that yesterday's result cost us over £1 million!!! I know everyone is in 'oh well we stayed up' mode, but I cant forget how poor this season has been. I am not going to start 'Souness Out' rants, but there are still questions I have about his managerial technique and team selections. Case in point again yesterday - we finally have a left winger fit and starting a match, so Souness plays him at right-back!! Reid did ok, and Douglas has played on the left a lot, but I'd rather have only one player out of position instead of two. I am very worried about next season already. No point in worrying about something outside your control Kiwi, unless you plan on 'fixing' Souey that is. Rovers will confound anything we may do with their unpredictability. Much as I'm sure Souness knows where each player will best be used, I'm not sure what he was up to either. You've got it a bit the wrong way around though. Reid isn't a left-winger, he's hardly a right-winger in my book he's so poor, but he's definitely not a left-winger. Douglas is a right-back though, apparantly, not like he's been given a proper shot there though. Souness isn't perfect, but he's better than anybody we could expect to get if we got rid of him, and it's not worth taking that chance, for me, you can never be sure how a manager will perform at a new club. Certainly better than that Paul Sturrock anyways
  19. 4-0 Cole and Stead with a brace each. Bambi to be his usual useless self, if he even manages to get on the pitch.
  20. They tried to sign JayJay as well, but he went to Notlob. Celtic won't be able to pay more than Bolton, so it's pretty unlikely Rivaldo will go, be better off trying for a deal in the Middle East with all the other washed-up has-beens if he's after money.
  21. Marvellous, if I hear of some bloke being arrested for performing indecent acts on a blow-up doll, I'll know who it is.
  22. You won't be saying that after they've had your eye out with the inflatable banana... That happened to me at Slane last summer. Got hit in the eye with an inflatable chair - should really have seen it flying towards me! Be careful lads! Inflatables can be dangerous! That would be the pre-concert refreshments effecting your vision I imagine Ben, yes they might not let you in with them, they've no good reason not to, but that's never stopped them before.
  23. Well unless you feel you need to stuff 20 inflatables down your pants...
  24. Just don't let it too near Brett, doesn't need any more monsters stopping him going near the edge of the pitch.
  25. You won't be saying that after they've had your eye out with the inflatable banana...
