[Archived] 2005/6 Season Ticket Sales
SIMON GARNERS 194 replied to Mike Graham's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
The only answer appears to lie on the pitch...the comment I constantly hear is "why go and spend good money watching this crap". And that is the crux of the matter Blue....lets just hope the team can deliver -

Should we be looking higher or lower than that figure then Lee? The matchday walk-ons are now so important to Rovers if we have only sold around 11,000 season tickets.Like many have stated its now imperative that matters take a turn for the better on the field of play to make sure these 7-8,000 people turn up every other week or attendances could clearly take a dramatic turn for the worse. Its make or break this season folks. -

Back the the sponsorship comment Personally I find it a bitter pill to swallow when the likes of fookin WIGAN,yes that great footballing club/tradition of WIGAN ATHLETIC PLC can command bigger sponsorship than ex-Premierleague champions Blackburn Rovers. 'KIN ELL!! But then again you only have to look at the Ewood Roverstore/Sportsworld/Lonsdale cheap bric a brac shop to see the way the clubs whole commercial side is heading....down the drain. -

Leeds city is 7 TIMES the size of Blackburn, they have massive support in the satellite towns of North and West Yorkshire....what do you expect? Whats this present structure at Ewood stopping us from doubling our gate?....PLEASE DONT START WITH THE CLUB MERGER BULL!! -
[Archived] Espanyol Attendance?
SIMON GARNERS 194 replied to thenodrog's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Leeds had their lowest gate for 15 years yesterday...just 20,000 turned out to watch their home game with Millwall.Away fans were banned but that wouldn't have made much difference.20,000 from a city of 700,000 inhabitants puts matters into perspective. Where the hell have the other 20k gone!! -

Disappointed he never played yesterday but better fit for the Hammers when it really counts. -

Am I alone in thinking the Fulham game, the first home game of the season, (probably going to be played in good weather and with new signing Bellamy + new team enthusiasm on and off the pitch)would have been an ideal opportunity to have a ticket promotion to attract a higher than expected gate....what would there be to loose? Have Rovers missed an opportunity here? -

One thing I do lament about this site is the lack of any opposing clubs fan views on matters like fan loyalty, relative ticket prices and the perception of Rovers fans as a whole.Could spark some interesting debate and open the eyes of a few! One week to go and we haven't had a single Hammer say hello! Infact we dont get many non-Rovers full stop! -
[Archived] Espanyol Attendance?
SIMON GARNERS 194 replied to thenodrog's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
One of the non attendees was a season ticket holder Theno. I reiterate my point that less than half our season ticket holders turned out...... 'not proper fans'????? -
[Archived] Espanyol Attendance?
SIMON GARNERS 194 replied to thenodrog's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
NO. Did you think a defeat at home on the last day of the season will bring them flooding back?,the atmosphere was also like a relegation party if my memory serves me right....only about a 1/3 of our crowd stayed behind to acknowledge the team ''The plain truth is that although people claim to be supporters Blackburn simply does not have enough die-hards to maintain a Prem team without somebody else chucking money at it. I have to agree entirely with you on that aspect but there's no point moaning about it....its like to be I'm afraid. -

I hope your right greggyK but cant see it myself..Fulham will bring a couple of coaches at best. You only have to judge by the number of season tickets sold that more and more Rovers 'fans' this season will be picking and choosing their games and the most interest will be generated by the big city local clubs. -

SIMON GARNERS 194 replied to thenodrog's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
You cant take anything from yesterday's attendance, less than half of the number of season tickets holders turned up....2 people at work commented on the price as their reason for non-attendance. I'm sure you remember the days not so long ago Theno when 5,000 was the average crowd at Ewood. Lets see how many we get against Fulham.....18-19,000 at best P.S. Quite impressed with Forest's near 25,000 yesterday I must say. -

Thank christ for that!,the way Jansen went down it looked like he'd definitely broken something.Espanyol were way out of order for a so-called friendly, way out of order!! Great entertaining game with matters looking decent,Kuqi quite impressed too....STILL no Bellamy??? Just to round off a good day,two-bob b'stards loose to Crewe!! -
Right or wrong,I find the concept of allowing Terrorists, whose sole aim is to murder innocents, the right to even basic 'human rights' very, very difficult to come to terms with. I personally applaud Blair's speech yesterday, and like the silent majority of this country wish these measures were in place yesterday. The time has come for action..........

[Archived] Cricket Anyone?
SIMON GARNERS 194 replied to a topic in I Can't Believe It's Not Football Archive
Funny isn't it,never really been a great cricket fan but this game has really got me into it!.Have the pc version...great graphics and good game play, one or two gripes like repetitive commentry and the silly crowd jumping and swaying at every hit ball action but all in all its a great way to waste half a day! Just played Bangladesh on the county setting and balled them all out for 38 off 12.2 overs.......Harmison(Hermason! ) 8-18! Have to say though I find the the test level setting against a team like the Aussies almost impossible. -
