You’d think if they had the slightest bit of interest in what’s going on, now might be the time to throw an extra couple of hundred K at the promotion push. They are billionaires after all and they choose to own a football club.
-
Nixon’s article is a non-story. It basically suggests he doesn’t have the inside line on what’s going on at Ewood. He clearly doesn’t know who the intended manager is and needed something to generate a few column inches and Patreon hits.

Lowe, Pears and Hedges are scapegoats but they are all good professionals. They’re just not quite good enough for this level. Pears is a decent back up keeper who became first choice due to us selling a very good keeper and twice buying an inferior replacement. Not signing De Lange was another big mistake. Lowe has never wanted to be a head coach/manager and is probably not even been paid extra his efforts. He’s in this position because they have failed to support his 2 decent predecessors and both have done all they can to leave. Always frustrating to lose, but the scapegoats don’t deserve our wrath. That should be fully focused on our penny pinching billionaire owners and their stooges at Ewood park!

I know they rarely pay any attention to what the fans want, but there has been a resoundingly negative response to the prospect of Karanka as manager and I would hope this would impact their decision making. I think it would be an incredibly underwhelming appointment given our league position and there would be very little sympathy from the fanbase if results went south. I'd much sooner we keep Lowe if this is the best replacement they can muster.

Maybe Wicky is detached enough from English football to not fully appreciate what a basket case we are? I don’t know much about Swiss football, but on the surface it appears Young Boys have faltered this season without Wicky.

If there cannot be reassurances about contract renewals then what’s the point in this whole process!? We will basically have no squad in 3 years. The lingering hope is that this means they intent to sell if we don’t get promoted, but no manager of any credibility is going to want that job.

v Plymouth Argyle (h) - 15/2/2025

Trav was immense today. He has improved so much this season and is becoming the complete midfielder. It was a comfortable win against a really poor Plymouth side, however before the goal we didn’t really create much despite having 70+% possession. Glad we scored when we did as it could have become a frustrating afternoon. Effort and desire were first rate today as always. The new manager needs to maintain this excellent team spirit. We don’t need a controversial character to upset the applecart. -
Well you certainly can’t question the effort and spirit of the players! It’s been the same all season and it’s the main reason we are sitting in 5th. A huge priority for the new manager is to maintain the team spirit!

Isn’t it that time of year again where Steve meets with senior players and supporters for a cuppa and a chinwag?

Michael Beale at 25/1 is a good shout. Out of work and generally seen to be useless. Will be desperate for a job and willing to toe the line accordingly.

Football is just a game. This is true, but it matters so much to so many people. Rovers means far more to me than it should and it has been a really important part of my life. It’s pathetic how much these things upset me. I’ve worked hard to convince my son to support Rovers and our shared love for the club brings me so much joy. They are ruining this for us. They are stealing precious moments from us and it makes me so angry. I will try to break this news to my son gently in the hope that he doesn’t take the easy way out and start supporting Man U/LFC/Barca.

It doesn’t really matter who the new manager is. We are now at the point where we are simply rearranging the deck chairs on the titanic. Eustace, like those before him, is jumping ship and the fans are left behind to suffer. I don’t know if I’ll be able to muster any excitement even if we hire Pep. Ultimately the owners leaving is all that matters now.

Surprised at how well we’ve played there given the off field chaos. Don’t deserve to be losing. Linesman and keeper have screwed us over. New players have done well and effort can’t be questioned. -
I wish I could check out.

Getting strong vibes of last December. A match where we know the manager is upset/leaving imminently. We may as well throw the game. -
In his mid-transfer window statement, Waggott cited the incredible team spirit in the dressing room as a reason why we basically weren’t signing many players. Now if rumours are to be believed they are willing to totally destroy this for….750k.

I said this when JDT went, but the only positive that can come from this is that it should expedite the owners departure from the club. They lucked out on JE and we’ve had a stay of execution for a season, but what on earth is the plan for next year with a depleted squad and an unwillingness to offer any longer contracts? In any sane universe this would be an indication that the owners are planning an exit, but with this lot you never know. I still can’t see past bitterness and revenge as being the underlying reason they don’t sell up. They were offended by the protests of a few years ago and took the hump. Now they enjoy watching us suffer by essentially holding the club captive in its current listless state.

Very envious watching the Birmingham City owner talking so passionately about the club at HT of their FA Cup tie with Newcastle. Fans are buzzing and club put on firework display for the big match. They are a division below us, but the fans are far more engaged as there is a plan and there is ambition. We are stagnant and it’s soul destroying to see. What’s the point of owning a football club if you’re not interested? Just put us all out of our misery.

If I was him I would wait for a better opportunity. I’d be happy to continue being paid well at Rovers whilst I bide my time. Even if they approach us and our hopeless board allow him to speak to Derby, I’d still expect him to reject the job as it makes no sense career wise. When the right job does come up though he’d be off like a shot and who could blame him?!
-
I would be very surprised to see him take up a job at a team fighting relegation. He may as well stay until the summer. His stock will remain high however our season pans out and if he does perform a miracle and get us into the playoffs then his reputation will sky rocket. He will know that better jobs will become available if he bides his time. For his career it would make no logical sense to go to Derby County even if he was seriously unhappy. I suppose this will be good news for us, but in reality we will just delay the inevitable for a few months. Meanwhile we face the prospect of having barely any players in the squad come the summer, very few valuable assets to generate income and a manager who will be itching to leave. Venkys have absolutely destroyed the club.
-
Tonight’s match was another victim of doing our transfer dealings too late. We have had a fairly nice run of fixtures in January but dropped far too many points. In the unlikely event that we narrowly miss out on the play-offs, we will regret these defeats.

In case Waggot is reading this. It's spelled Dennis with 2 N's.
-
You’d think they might stretch the budget a little given our league position. What is the point of owning a football club?

I suppose if we signed O’Brien we could save a few quid and use the photos from 2 years ago. This might be an incentive for Waggot.
