  1. When was the last time a fan protest resulted in a change in ownership? Just look at Man U - despite vigorous protesting they ended up creating a new club because the Glazer's have the kind of wealth that makes you untouchable - like apparently the Rao family does. I've no idea why the Venkys continue to own us, but we're powerless to stop it.
  2. Also goes to show the gap between the PL and the rest. We've battled to the 5th Round of the FA Cup which, so far, has been worth £333k in prize money for us which isn't an insignificant sum. It's just over a month's salary for a player Forest deem surplus to requirements 6 months after spending £9m acquiring him. Mental.
  3. I genuinely don't think he'll be here for the next one.
  4. That striker hasn't scored in 11 games and has missed at least 3 sitters in that time frame. His head has gone, mentally he's in Spain already. We win the Boro and Rotherham games if someone can put the ball in the back of the net - that's 6 points without even thinking about it.
  5. To be fair he put enough space between himself and Brockhall on Tuesday night, the turd.
  6. As I've said multiple times in this thread, I'm bitterly disappointed that we didn't bring in a CF as that puts the end to our Playoff hopes, but even from the deals we WERE aware of it's clear where we are in the hierarchy of football right now - Undav didn't fancy it (the deal was agreed), the French lad (Konte?) was agreed, but his club sold his teammate instead and cancelled the deal. With our financial muscle and pulling power you're simply at the whims of others (thanks Venkys) - I knew we weren't signing a striker when the news broke about the French lad and he was clearly several rungs down the list of strikers on our shopping list. I like the permanent signings of Hyam, Brittain and Szmodics - they all add something to the squad and were acquired for reasonable prices. The loans have been less impressive, but I get the feeling Mola and Hirst especially were chances of the arm on players that were once standouts in the U19s.
  7. The conspiracy theory just doesn't stack up. Waggot literally answers to the Venkys - and apparently all they're concerned about is the bottom line. All he has to say is "Sorry, Greg, but we can't afford O'Brien's wages or the financial commitment of £10m should we go up". WBA literally said that and, quite frankly, it's not an unreasonable position to take. All this failed transfer has done is shine a light on the general incompetence in our Board. Why would he want that to happen?
  8. I had a long post typed out in reply to this, but deleted it because it's not the time or place. In summary though, he's not a miracle worker, but he's done far more good than bad in his short time here in my opinion.
  9. Does anyone really kid themselves and think we follow a normal club? We're on life support and the Academy is our ventilator. Without that last gift from Jack Walker we'd literally be in League 2, if not liquidated. I've been hopeful since the summer that Broughton (and by extension JDT) can stem some of the bleeding by implementing a long-term plan, but their hands are tied if those above them can't even handle basic administrative tasks.
  10. Then you'd simply cancel the deal as we can't afford either.
  11. Personally I'd play Wharton ahead of Travis - that Blackpool game was something else. That said, Gallagher is never scoring and Brereton-Diaz is already in Spain, so it doesn't really matter. Hedges, Szmodics and Dolan to come off the bench is Top 6 quality though.
  12. That has as much legal grounding as me saying I can ensure you that Katherine Langford would fall in love with me if she'd just answer my Twitter DMs.
  13. That's not how the world works. He's registered with them, ultimately he's their responsibility. They only signed him in the summer and now he's not even being registered for the PL squad - that's mental.
  14. Agree to disagree about the midfield - both Garrett and A. Wharton have bossed a game at 19 and 18, respectively, in very limited starts. We should use the second half of the season to properly blood them (and continue to develop Buckley and Travis). Morton can go back to Liverpool for all I care. Phillips should start a few games too, as should Leonard (or Burns if they think he's the better prospect?). Any hopes of the Playoffs died when we failed to land a striker in January, so we need to be pragmatic and use this 6 months wisely to prepare for next season.
  15. Really? A cursory look at attendances would tell you the fan base isn't happy. I fancy setting up a business in India - if these idiots can become billionaires surely anyone can do it.
  16. As I said, at least it was nice not to lose to a League 2 team like previous years. The FA Cup run has brought in £333k (not including gates) which is a nice boom too, especially for a club without a pot to piss in.
  17. JDT played with a 4-2-3-1 in Sweden - it's his preferred formation and he's pushed for it here too (after initially starting with 3 CBs to grind out some results).
  18. We're in the 5th round of the FA Cup and got to the Round of 16 for the League Cup. Granted we're not going to progress any further in either competition, but at least it was nice not to lose to Lincoln or some such.
  19. Club statement: https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2023/february/02/club-statement/ Feel sorry for the media team tbh - they should have turned the replies off on Twitter. It's not their fault.
  20. Occam's razor applies here. There's no conspiracy theory - Broughton / JDT can't really complain if the CEO says "sorry, we can't commit to paying £10m for O'Brien if we get promoted". WBA said exactly the same thing. It's incompetence, end of.
  21. He also holds the UEFA Pro Licence (coaching) and Technical Director's qualifications from the Football Association. He lacks experience, which is why he's cutting his teeth as a Director of Football at this little backwater club (thanks Venkys).
