  1. I genuinely wonder how they manage this. Celtic were interested in Beck, apparently, and a fee of £3m was quoted. If Beck proves to be better than Pickering (you're not getting £3m for him), does Eustace drop Harry? He appears to be one of the first names on the team sheet and is no doubt an established character in the dressing room. If nothing else the lad has pace, which we've been absolutely crying out for. I don't hate this loan at all, but Batty needs to go and play Mens football for the season now at a club that is going to start him week-in, week-out (whatever level that may be).
  2. Saw one on the Surrey Cricket live stream yesterday (at the Oval), and of course Ewood is literally flooded with them. The new kits have gone down very, very well it seems.
  3. That model changed when JDT and Broughton left. Now it's purely about surviving year to year - that much is very clear.
  4. Love it. Fans turned on him last year because he ground out survival with a weak squad. Fans have turned on him this year because he wants some say in transfers. Must be annoying that he's picked up 7 points from 9 - obviously it's only against newly promoted teams, who we did so well against last year.
  5. I presume Germain will be Park's choice - 'cos he thinks he's found another cheap gem like Ohashi. I think the problem is it's either / or, which is where Waggot comes in.
  6. This is the same dude that's apparently saying "Bring me Dembele, or bring me death" behind the scenes and publicly praises Pears - so y'know, I'd take what he says in interviews with a grain of salt.
  7. I don't think it's smokescreens. We clearly have a miniscule budget for a Championship team - make no mistake about it, most of that £40m has been earmarked for running costs. We'll be one of several teams in for Travers and Rushworth (if they're both available for loan), but we almost certainly won't be offering the most attractive financial offer. I suspect both PL clubs will leave it down to the player to decide. We'll also be haggling over the fee for players like Dembele (£1.5m is a huge portion of our budget I feel [£10k a week is £520k, so that's the wages for 3 players right there]) and Birmingham et al are sticking to their guns. I think we'll get 4 in before the window closes. I don't think we'll have been linked to 3 of them though prior to their signing - they'll all be loans is my bet.
  8. Absolutely no chance we spend £15m. I'd bet my mortgage on it.
  9. His 'highlights' video on YT makes much more sense now - it's all tackles (including Gallagher bottling a 50/50).
  10. We need one CM if they bring in a RW. JRC is a CM in my opinion - that would leave us with four. I can see why Eustace would move Buckley on - I doubt he's cheap anymore and I don't think he trusts him. He's so inconsistent.
  11. Just listened to his podcast whilst out on a run - he added nothing just "approach seems to be scattergun, but there will be a flurry of transfers again this week like there was when we signed Gueye et al all in a short period". Didn't add any new names, just ruled out Ruddy as one he'd not heard. Clearly he's not plugged in.
  12. He definitely has more options in attack with Gueye, Yuki and Weimann. It's still nowhere near enough, but it's more.
  13. It's an opportunity to blood the youngsters, so Duru should definitely start. I think the rest are either on loan, injured, or have gone backwards (Batty I'm looking at you) so it should be an opportunity for squad rotation. There's no money in the Carabao Cup until the later rounds and, quite frankly, with our tiny squad we shouldn't be adding more games to our schedule.
  14. Ruddy is better than Pears - however we've just banked £40m, we should be aiming for much better than a GK that's happy to retire on Newcastle's bench.
  15. Wigan can ask for whatever they want - they have a billionaire owner. Granted, he wants Wigan Athletic to wash it's own face because he only bought them to get his hands on the stadium for his Rugby League team, but still...
  16. Unless it's not a cheap punt and those wages tied up in Germain are then taken away from a player he actually wants. He's said multiple times that he wants 4+ players in that will all start (or at least massively improve the bench). Maybe he just sees Germain as a bench filler and that role can be taken by our two Academy prospects instead?
  17. Fun fact - Transfermarkt has the Birmingham City squad as having a higher overall value than the Blackburn Rovers squad.
  18. It isn't his job, but he can also do exactly what JDT did with Telalovic and refuse to play him.
  19. Someone just paid £1m for Wahlstedt. Nobody is giving us £1m for Calamity Pears.
