Agree to disagree. I think he unbalances the formation. He's a great player, but he's meant to be the tip of the spear. How often do you see him dropping deep for the ball, or floating out to a wing? Too often. He's too used to playing with Son making runs beyond him. -

Back 4 isn't good enough to win this tournament. Bellingham is good, but he's desperate to play as a 10 which leaves us short in midfield. How Foden doesn't start is beyond me too. -

Why did you think Qatar would be better than that? How many professional football players does that country even have? -
Looks like he's found his level - hopefully we can get a fee for him in January.

I thought Leonard looked quite tidy when I saw him play in pre-season. Is he not highly rated?

We pump £3m a year into the Academy, it'd be foolish not to use it. -

I've only cried twice about football - the first time we were relegated from the Premier League and when we were put out in the semis of Euro 96. I don't care as much as I used to about England, but I'll be watching. -

He'll need to improve the midfield and forwards to truly play how he wants to play. At the moment he's making do with what he's got. There's no way he came here to play 3 CBs and Pickering as a WB (or indeed Hedges), but here we are. He finds a way to squeeze Hedges into the starting XI because he's one of the few players we have that finds space and can control and pass the ball in tight confines. If we're serious about promotion this year (I don't think we are) we'll go and find a Keinan Davis on loan in January (we obviously couldn't afford him outright) to lead the line - the ball sticks to him and he brings others into the game. -

The amount of people throwing their toys out of the pram over a football game is bizarre Did you sleep though the last decade? Burnley have established themselves as a PL club, meanwhile Ewood Park is desperate for a coat of paint. They've completely eclipsed us financially thanks to the Venkys. -
And he'd reply with "ok, give me £10m in January to buy some attacking players". He's hamstrung by the squad he's been left with. People in one breath are saying losing to a squad assembled for £30m+ is completely unacceptable and puts JDT in the last chance saloon and in the next breath wondering why our 18 year old Academy graduate (who was just a promising player 5 months ago) wasn't on the field to save us - and don't see the hypocrisy.
-
Mowbray would never. Good on JDT telling Chile that he's unavailable.

Well Brereton was brought down illegally when through on goal from a counter attack. He also fired one straight at Muric (I suspect 2021 Brereton slots that home - he's not quite been as clinical this season), also on the break. Garrett is going to be a complimentary, Ball Winning Midfielder / Box-to-Box Midfielder - someone that can do the neat and tidy stuff, put in a tackle and get about the pitch. He's not going to dictate play like Wharton does. Hence he's another in the mould of Travis - hopefully with a better range of passing and a harder tackle (which he has so far). -
One question for Tomasson

I'd like to know why Adam Wharton wasn't selected, even for the bench. I know he's a 60 minute man at the moment, but he could have provided something different to the team - he's our best CM. Was it a look to the future - i.e. he has England internationals to play during the World Cup break, or did he think he'd be overawed by the occasion as someone with so little senior playing time? -

Do you not think we were relatively untroubled until Gallagher went off injured? I've just had a long conversation with a close friend who is a Burnley season ticket holder. His exact comment was "They were a bit too happy to let Burnley have the ball, for me. That said, I thought they were set up really well in the first half". We went into that game looking for a draw - or at best to nick a win on the break. We nullified them until Gallagher went off and Kompany told his troops to push on as we had nothing upfront after that. Garrett is going to be a good one and actually brings that 'aggression' you all seem to be craving. A. Wharton is a much better player, but JDT decided not to include him for whatever reason - I assume with a view on the long term. Barnes deserved a yellow card, at best, for that push on Kaminski. Some referees would have sent him off for that. He also deserved a yellow card for his foul on Travis later on. -

Watford were a shambles when we played them - man for man they've got a FAR better squad that we do. Burnley are currently flying with... a far better squad than we have. Rotherham are equipped to attack Burnley's weaknesses. There's no way Gallagher and Brereton are winning enough headers to make that an option for us - it's just not in their game. -

Barnes should have been red carded, if we're honest. He committed three bookable offences. Anyone can 'bully' a team if the referee gives them free license - sadly we never get that, as evidenced by Travis being booked for... I'm not actually sure what. Handing off a player?
