  1. To be fair it's the kind of bonkers thing these owners sanction. £6m on a striker when you've scored 12 in 3 and peanuts on a GK.
  2. The current formation calls for the wingers to play wide - hence why Eustace has a left footer on the left and a right footer on the right (to start at least).
  3. I know that Garrett didn't get off the bench today for Bristol Rovers.
  4. Mainly because the GK doesn't save anything and often gifts the opposition a clear cut chance or two a game.
  5. The current recruitment team do seem to target players in the last year of their contract, or those with release clauses - so maybe there's some smoke to this fire.
  6. We loose an easy outlet - it makes a massive difference when you have a big CF that the ball sticks to upfront. In an ideal world you'd have a like-for-like replacement for him. When we bring Ohashi on we have to change the way we play.
  7. After the wailing and gnashing of teeth that there was no life without Szmodics we went away to a very strong Championship team and got a point. So yes, I'm giving the team credit for that. There were no 8s, but I thought Ohashi, Gueye, Tronstad and Hedges all deserved 7s. If you score or assist you deserve a boost in your rating - the aim of the game is to score more goals than the opponent of course. Brittain would get a 7 if either of his CBs or his GK had covered for his error - sadly they didn't.
  8. Watched that the other day - it's been quite the transformation. He turned into a clinical finisher overnight.
  9. A draw away at a side that finished in the Playoffs last year, a day after we sold the Championship's top goal scorer, and not a single Rover scores above a 6 - and you think that's a fair assessment? Curious.
  10. My mum loved Gallagher - always stuck up for him when everyone around us in the Jack Walker was groaning as he fluffed another attack "Oh but he works hard and he's good in our box". Even she thinks Gueye is a big improvement on him.
  11. Three quality finishes in three matches now.
  12. Honestly I swear that's happened every single match for years - probably since BBD left (not that he was fast, but he was quick enough). I know teams advance scout obsessively and look at the metrics, but it always seems to take them some time during the match against Rovers to go "ey up, they've got no pace, let's push up". To be fair I think the problems started occurring after half time when Gueye was clearly out of steam. He was stretching them before that.
  13. Wonder if they've had a word with him and said "look we can afford one or two more that will impact the starting XI, or four or five bodies for the squad" and he's chosen the former.
  14. Garrett didn't get off the bench for Bristol Rovers. 😞
  15. Fair play to whoever's leading the recruitment at the moment - Gueye, Ohashi and Weimann have all hit the ground running (the first two being a damn sight better than anything we had upfront last year). Imagine what we could do if they bring in an equally good LW and GK...
  16. Due to selection or because he has a move lined up? It is that time of year.
  17. For the first (and last) time ever I'm cheering for India.
  18. He looks like the son of a former player that's been bought as a favour by his father's mate and found himself thrust into the #1 spot because the team he signed for spends no money on players and their Academy hasn't bailed them out at that position for once. Oh.
  19. It's looking ominous, isn't it?
  20. I think we've got a handful of #10s - one of them has to stand up and be counted. We need pace and width - we don't have anyone that can provide that in the squad.
  21. Travis was good again today - got around the pitch, broke up play and didn't give the ball away. If you just ask him to be a nuisance and only play the way he's facing he's effective. As much as I liked JDT he definitely arrived with a system and stubbornly tried to fit players into it (and to be fair I think a good number of players massively improved under his coaching). Eustace seems to have designed a style of play around the players available to him. He's never asked Travis to play on the half turn.
  22. Looks like O'Riordan started for Cambridge United too.
