  1. #thankyouMowbray Spent £5m on a striker who he then put out wide cos he realised he had the first touch of a cart horse - and then extended his contract when our wage bill is clearly ridiculously tight. The gift that keeps on giving.
  2. The Comms / PR / Marketing team (whatever they're called at Rovers) will have no idea who's coming in. They'll know about an hour beforehand when someone from the operations side says "get down to Brockhall and photograph this new signing".
  3. Khadra doesn't play for us and has never been coached by JDT, so he's irrelevant to this discussion. Hedges has been a victim of his own success / his teammate's failings. He's been shoehorned into the side in a few positions (including RWB) because he's one of the few players on the books that can receive a ball in tight spaces, retain possession and then either pick a pass or beat a man. He's put in plenty of crosses cutting inside from the right - Brereton-Diaz's head is just in Spain so he's missed most of them and Gallagher wouldn't know where the goal is if you gave him a map. Dolan has played mostly as a Pressing Forward (a #9) this season and has really cut down on his pointless dribbling. So, no, I don't think Thomas indicates a change in our style of play. He's an extra option for that front 4 - one that brings a different dimension to what we currently have. Set pieces are also very important, just ask our lord and savior Sam Allardyce.
  4. That's a shame, but the parachute payments strike once again.
  5. I'm taking the piss? Give over. As for who he'll cross to - well he'll immediately be our best set piece taker, so everyone. From open play, whoever is in the front 3 alongside him. You don't always have to cross for a header (as lord knows none of our current group can win those).
  6. This place is hilarious. We've just signed a pacey (something we've been missing) winger on a loan who was near the top of the assists chart last year, yet 90% of the posts are complaining about: Who's he going to cross to? Which young winger is he going to replace? Why is there no option to buy? He doesn't score enough. Why are Huddersfield letting him go, what's wrong with him? Lighten up - he was literally mentioned on here earlier in the season as someone we'd (the fans) would love to have - well now we do.
  7. Considering our set pieces are crap, if he just improves those it's a bonus.
  8. Absolutely not, we season ticket holders have suffered enough.
  9. Positive talks with Mowbray? I call foul on that one.
  10. Interesting you say that - I watched the extended highlights of the Huddersfield game at Ewood (the last game Brereton-Diaz scored in btw) to see what all the fuss about Thomas was about. He barely touched the ball, which was disconcerting. I will say that Brereton-Diaz missed an absolute sitter and Morton smashed an easier chance than either of the two Rotherham 30+ yard goals straight at the keeper - so it's a myth we don't create chances.
  11. Gallagher has played centrally (as much as you can when the front 4 interchange) for a while. He's not getting on the end of things because he has no striker instincts.
  12. I know I don't trust the Peterborough Chairman as far as I can throw him - and it doesn't benefit Rovers to go around correcting him publicly on any transfer figures.
  13. We have a very literal fan base "but they said it's about developing young players to improve their value!" We'd just play the U21s if that was the case. It's a balance.
  14. I'd genuinely take what the Peterborough Chairman says with a pinch of salt. He's a 'character', to put it mildly. Szmodics is a good player at this level - he's already scored 3 for us (with an assist), it's just a shame he's picked up a number of injuries (including a concussion from a very bad foul). At the moment, with the form Dack is in, he's a lovely option to bring off the bench for 20 minutes - something all the Top 6 teams need.
  15. What? Hyam and Brittain are better than the players they replaced and improved our starting XI (and I was a big fan of Nyambe). Szmodics has been very useful too, just sadly very injury prone this season. The permanent deals have been very good. The loans have been so-so.
  16. Are Huddersfield in financial trouble? He's listed as worth £5m on Transfermarkt (yes I know that's not set it in stone). I wonder if he's a direct replacement for Brereton-Diaz and Villareal have stumped up some money for an early transfer, like we did with Hedges?
  17. Well you wouldn't, would you? There's a number of fans on here that just think Broughton / JDT are on the gravy train and aren't desperately trying to improve the playing staff. Money is clearly ridiculously tight - which goes back to my point about Mowbray extending Gallagher out of spite.
  18. If Big Dunc was good enough for us, he's good enough for them. Get Ferguson in I say.
  19. It's very harsh. He's a good Championship player - he's just a box-to-box / defensive midfielder, rather than one that's comfortable with the ball at his feet. He's better without the ball than with it.
  20. I don't think he'll be sold this window, but he's clearly not a fit for the style of play JDT is promoting. He made him captain because he was the clear leader of the group when JDT arrived - although Hyam has supplanted him there it looks like. I'd say most players have improved as the season has gone on - funny that it's such a game of opinions, eh?
