  1. It's exactly what Brentford did - sans the Academy. Bought players low, sold them high and eventually accrued a strong enough squad to get promoted.
  2. JDT is a funny one - Telalovic clearly has a very short leash. I thought he was good last week and was ok today. I've certainly seen players play much worse for 45 minutes under JDT and not be hooked at half time.
  3. He didn't have anything to do besides pick the ball out of the back of his net. All of their other shots were speculative long range efforts.
  4. What's he meant to do when the LB gets bullied and loses a header?
  5. I think it's more about not letting Lenihan, Rothwell, Brereton-Diaz, Ayala, Dack, Nyambe etc walk away for free. We have to be realistic - the plan is to build a solid financial footing to operate from. We clearly can't rely on these dodgy owners to foot the bill every season, and even then we get into trouble with FFP 'cos our crowds are naff and we've historically let players walk at the end of their contracts. We complain about Boro / Hull etc spending loads of cash - well they've generated said cash through player sales. If, for example, Carter is sold for £8m in January and O'Riordan is brought in as his replacement for £500k, that's exactly the way the model should work. You've then got £7.5m to pay wages / pay for the Academy / invest in other player transfers.
  6. We have two very experienced, talented, 6'2"+ CBs and yet every cross is a bomb scare. One of them needs to step up and take command. We conceded two goals today and neither were the fault of the GK.
  7. About to set off to Ewood. I'd rather not watch Markanday, please and thank you.
  8. Might want to take a look around the first team squad before complaining that we don't develop our own...
  9. He's already been weighed, measured and found wanting by the Ewood jury without even kicking a ball.
  10. But he's proven time and time again he can't play as a 6 in this formation, so why would they lie to him and tell him to wait his turn? They've tried to give him game time - at LB, RB and as an 8, but he's clearly not first choice in any of those positions either.
  11. Nothing to do with heart and passion. Everything to do with a small squad stretched to breaking point by long term injuries and a congested fixture list.
  12. How do you know we didn't get a loan fee for Travis?
  13. Broughton didn't lie, he was lied to. So was JDT. JDT had an opportunity to leave in the summer - he stayed because he thought they'd be allowed to reinvest the wages saved from Dack, Ayala, Kaminsky and Brereton-Diaz.
  14. It was a stupid move for him - purely motivated by his agent tripling his wages. I wouldn't allow him back into the building at Brockhall, ever.
  15. If you're telling me he's as good as Moran I'm snapping your hand off.
  16. Which youngster? Batty clearly hasn't kicked on this season and they were playing Brittain and Travis at LB at times.
  17. How many of those were immediately after his first touch?
  18. I wouldn't be surprised if Brighton have let us have him for cheap (as his initial loan failed) with the assurance that he'll be used to spell Moran, who we're in danger of running into the ground.
  19. I was saying to my dad the other day - the trick the owners pulled when they allowed Broughton / JDT to think that the money saved with Ayala / Dack / Brereton-Diaz etc leaving would be freed up in the wage bill, only to then slash the wage bill by the same amount was disgraceful.
  20. Not that you're obsessed or anything, having brought him up twice without prompting.
  21. If we're brutally honest, Travis is a pantomime villain. He couldn't fight his way out of a paper bag.
  22. Smart man if true - they're considerably wealthier than us.
  23. Let's see how the window plays out. It's clear that JDT doesn't like Travis in the CM role, so talk about him backing up A. Wharton and Tronstad is just that - talk. He's been relegated to makeshift FB in the last few months, he clearly needed to be moved on. And again I think he's a good Championship player, but he doesn't fit the style of football or formation JDT wants to play.
