  1. Judging by the highlights we got absolutely dicked on
  2. We're still several players away from a quality team, though we've done well to get this far. Credit goes to Hughes.
  3. We'd struggle to field a team for half the season
  4. I was shocked when Hughes picked the same team for this game - Bentley isn't a right winger so unless you manufacture a crossing opportunity for him, he's not going to put any balls into the box, he's also a liability defensively. Pedersen is up to his usual tricks, he'll probably score again today (hopefully) but otherwise he's non-existant. Dickov was pants on Monday and it sounds like he's pants again....so basically we're playing with eight men, depending on the situation. Personally I'd have put Emerton in for Bentley at the start because, for all his faults, he puts himself around. Kuqi would have started for Dickov too, but that wouldn't have been too popular
  5. And pass the ball straight into Filan's hands from close range. Bellamy was rubbish last night, Wigan did their homework on him.
  6. Let's put it this way, if Bellamy could finish Kuqi would have had a goal and an assist in about half an hour last night - can't ask for much more than that.
  7. I'd say that was a very dissapointing result, but I guessed it was coming. We caught Wigan at a good time at New Years, they were pretty much exhausted, which negates their style of play. On the balance of it we deserved to lose that game, we created nothing and struggled with their set pieces. I could go on about how poor certain people played, but I won't. On the plus side a point is a point and Kuqi scored another goal (no swan dive tonight though ). The referee lost control of that game early on, allowing Wigan to pretty much foul at will without fear of punishment. We're clearly three or four starting players from being a perennial European team, hopefully Sparky is given the funds to go out and get them.
  8. Jesus I feel sorry for the club - quite frankly our fans are a bunch of tw_ts. All they do is b!tch and moan about quality of football, fixture times, ticket prices, concession prices, atmosphere etc, etc. I don't know why the club even bothers, they simply can't win.
  9. I think the picture has been cleared up somewhat today, it's between us and L'Arse. Spurs have been wobbling for a few games now and they've been on the end of a thrashing today, that can't be good for confidence. Bolton are pretty much out of it I feel, they've got a very tough run in. I feel we're somehow going to have to get something out of the Chelski and Liverpool games, which is a very tough ask. Still at worst Europe looks likely
  10. I'm still behind the Rovers, obviously, but it's a worrying run of form they've put together. The United game will be the big test for them - are they just steamrolling poor sides? Time will tell. As for Rovers, the Wigan game is a big test for us - we need to win it, no if, buts or maybes. I've not been impressed with our play of late (impressed with the results, but not the performances), but if we can get past Wigan with our CL bid unscathed then we've got as good a chance as anyone I suppose. Chelski look wobbly, shame we're not playing them anytime soon eh?
  11. 4th is looking increasingly out of reach, L'Arse are on fire!
  12. 2-0 L'Arse, Henry. 1-0 Bolton, PieBoy. It's also 2-1 to Pompey, Lua Lua, but I suppose this is the wrong thread.
  13. Big game at the Reebok this afternoon now
  14. It's a good development in the sense that the concourse is unbearable at half time, but somewhere should be provided for smokers to go.
  15. Probably because we sold out their away end and expected them to do the same. I agree though, the attendance figures are now beyond a joke - 20k for a Premiership team is disgraceful, especially one currently sitting in 5th. It's tough to blame the club though, there's little more they can feasibly do
  16. It's good news, as long as Tugay realises he's not guaranteed a start, and Hughes actively searches for a replacement.
  17. I suppose I'm happy about this development, but he's still doesn't fill me with confidence at right back, though he has markedly improved under Hughes. I'd prefer a solider defender, one with superior positional defence, but Neill brings that physicality that Hughes loves - athleticism, speed, strength, aggression, stamina - and we'd miss his forward runs greatly.
