Fleetwood Town (A) - Pre-Season 2020/21

Nah, I was never that player. Just got much closer to them and pressured them. At my level there were v few who had quick enough feet to beat you if you pressured them as they were receiving the ball. The ones that did, and were faster than you, rinsed you. -

Depends how fast you are - I played FB too (sadly not good enough to play CM!) and it all depended on the opponent. If you were faster, I gave him space and challenged him to beat me. If he was faster, I got close and harried him. -

It's almost as if Rothwell isn't a wide player. -
I think it just sums up Joe Hart.
-
I'd define Walton as unathletic for a professional goalkeeper.
-
I was a decent Sunday League player. One week we had two lads who'd been released from Bolton's Academy as 16 year olds turn up for a training match. It was like Pele and Maradonna had turned up to our training session.
-
If he's going to persist with this 4-3-3 formation then you have Armstrong, Gallagher and Brereton all fighting for one position. They're all just making up the numbers when you put them out wide.

How tall is Eastham? He looks sub 6 feet. -
Looks lean for Dack.
-
So if this lad is any good, can we not have the Academy players compete for the backup GK role? Be conservative and keep the best one to play in the cup, or be adventurous and keep the worst one as we don't use backup GKs anyway and send the best one out on loan?
-
They're all tough fixtures according to Tony. No easy games at this level. Must respect everyone. Lots of sleeping giants knocking around and little ol' Rovers can't hope to compete.

I'm not a money guy - so I just texted my friend, who's a Financial Director. He couldn't explain why they'd continue throwing money at it either: "it might be worth £200m on a balance sheet, but that's not a reason to continue throwing money at it" were his exact words. Their ownership of the club is just.... baffling. Either they have F you money, or they pretend to have F you money and eventually this house of cards comes crashing down.
-
They were sold a high functioning PL football club. They've turned it into a lemon - thanks to bad advice and lethargy. I'm a forgiving bloke, so I'd forgive them being taken in by a conman immediately after purchasing the club - although it's embarrassing - but to let the club slide to the state it's currently in? Unforgivable. How you have a club being run solely by Waggott and Mowbray is ridiculous. Where's the structure? Where's the accountability? You're literally just throwing money away - it must be an ego thing as to why they don't cut their losses as clearly they have no interest in the club. I shudder to think how they run their other businesses.
-
You wouldn't even accept those results / comments as an owner if it was Guardiola - even with his track record of success. The Venkys clearly just don't give a fuck - Mowbray and his mate are on to a great thing here.
-
I don't actually think Lenihan is that good - but yeah, we'd never replace him if we sold him.
-
He's had £14+ million to spend on transfer fees without any pressure to sell anyone (and God only knows what our loan fees / wage contributions were for Cunningham, Palmer, Tosin, Reed and Walton). I despise the Venkys for turning our proud club into the utter shambles it is today - but they've backed Mowbray massively, financially. It's a bad job of his own making.
-
I dread to think what he'd say if we came up against a decent PL team in the FA cup. "Lucky to be on the same pitch as them" most likely.
-
Any owner worth their salt would read that quote and think "Tony, you've spent £14m+ in 3+ years and your opinion is that Doncaster is going to be a tough game? Get my accountant on the phone, I need to know how much it'd cost to sack this knob immediately".
-
I'd sack him just for that. Pathetic.
-
Let's be honest, it's a crap league and Mowbray is incredibly wasteful with money. Midtable is extremely plausible, with the right man in charge. Our Academy supported by a few shrewd signings would guarantee that. I just hate the idea of Mowbray leading that charge / Rovers settling for midtable mediocrity in the bloody Championship with billionaire owners. If that's their aim, why don't they just fuck off and let someone local take over? At least they'd allow the club to have some pride again and, hey, maybe even something resembling a professional internal structure. Just a thought.

Worst Rovers signing ever?

Bloody hell, is that true? Imagine being that cavalier with someone else's money. -

We were in the Prem at the time - he was awful for Rovers. Fabulous L1 player though, I'm sure. -

Andrews was awful, but nowhere near the worst. He only irritates me now when he gets wheeled out as the Blackburn pundit when we're on TV. All the greats to choose from and they bring in him... -

We're pretty close to becoming one.
