  1. Can't pretend I understand these last two subs.
  2. That was never a free kick, ever. Dangerous spot.
  3. Benno was down injured a while after missing it. Pretty obvious something went as he was hitting it is how he missed. Not rocket science. Gutting though.
  4. Smallwood, like Bennet, clearly has no confidence in his ability to smash one in and would rather play a pass to someone in no space. Must do better.
  5. Jesus, Hull will be thanking their lucky stars they aren't losing this yet. Dack, Palmer and Arma are a truly terrifying trio!
  6. He has shown he score from the position he was in, bit of an odd one. Pass was a nothing ball, shoulda gone for it. Not sure whether Arma got fouled in the box there or not. Good start, looking like we can get a lot of chances today if we keep it up.
  7. Very surprised he has stuck with Arma up front. Could mean we are going for the win, or just that we plan to hit them on the counter with Armstrong's pace. Or simply that TM is being cautious with DG's knees.
  8. If we get him, I hope you're wrong. Don't want a player who simply doesn't want to be here and starts with his head down. Especially an inordinately expensive one.
  9. http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/16445160.rovers-boss-considering-the-here-and-now-for-lewis-travis/?ref=mac Interesting, honest interview from Mowbray as always, although I think he could choose his words more carefully. I do think Travis needs to go on loan to League One, whether we recruit more or not. Even if we shift Whittingham too, we have Bennett, Smallwood, Evans, Davenport, Rothwell who can all play in there. Trav needs regular, mans football. I'd send him off for the season, with a recall option. If we get injuries or decide he can be further up the pecking order we could just bring him back. Should be sent to a club with an understanding of regular game time, and that if he doesn't see it we bring him back. If Mowbray is interested in a decent loan deal for him (which he certainly seems to be) he should avoid talking about how error prone he is. If I were a fan of a League One team linked with him, I would read those comments and feel a bit nervous. Also odd where he says he has great awareness, then gives an example of absolutely terrible awareness.
  10. I don't think he would have to fail all that spectacularly to not be trading hands for 8 million again. It's a lot of money. He would only have to show he was below average or not develop much further and we would make a significant loss.
  11. A magician? I'd be forced to conclude he was some kind of celestial being! Just getting their wages gone in full without a payoff or subsidising them would imply witchcraft at the bare minimum.
  12. Watching this with subtitles on was highly entertaining. Some of the Chinese names that came out....my fave was 'ending her', closely followed by 'soon we shake' (who got sent off, so it said 'soon we shake scent off').
  13. Definitely remember at the time, Gladwin was being reported as free, but with appearance/performance/sell-on related extras. So, free then.
  14. Thank you! Was starting to think it was just me this was irritating. I've been tempted to message him on Twitter and ask him to stop. It really is terrible use of language for a professional writer. Incorrectly applied, usually, as well as unimaginative by virtue of repetition.
  15. Agreed (had outlived his usefulness here though, we just didn't follow up on his dismissal well), just pointing out they seem to be making their way through our ex managers.
  16. At the right price and wages, I don't see why not. He'd make a fantastic cleaner. Great work rate.
  17. I first heard about him when his dad first eyed up his mum.
  18. Armstrong meets that definition. You will be aware how much he cost.
  19. 14th is 8 places from the play-offs, and 7 from relegation, so that follows. Of course, bookies odds are in a fairly large part based on how people are betting, and people have a tendency to not expect newly promoted teams to do well, whether rightly so or not. Not sure I can think of a newly promoted team that were actually tipped for the playoffs, but there's a good few examples of teams that have done it.
  20. https://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/championship/winner This seems to list clubs in order of the average odds across all major bookies (I think, haven't studied it too intently). If we used that as a measure, the bookies seem to think we will finish 14th. Nice and solidly mid-table. Teams expected to be in that bracket can always charge for the play-offs, so I don't think the bookies would be gobsmacked if we ended up in the mix. I'm personally expecting us to finish anywhere from around 8th to 16th at the moment, but more expecting the higher end of that spectrum...this is on the assumption we do adequate business in the remainder of the window. Fantastic business might earn us a serious tilt at the playoffs, poor business...I don't want to think about. This is a league where most teams could pretty much finish anywhere in a wide range.
  21. Think we will be doing very well indeed to still have Dack come the end of next summer's window, sadly. I hope if there is a release clause in his new deal, it is huge.
  22. Never know who might suddenly burst through the ranks or come into their own, as a legendary striker one season. Obviously they'll be off in the summer immediately if they do, but maybe for a twinkling of a moment!
  23. I like to see us attack too, and think this team is suited to it. But if you look at the number of shots we let a League 2 team have, consider how many more, and better taken, a Championship team would achieve, then factor in that they would defend better against us, and that 5-1 win can fairly easily turn into a 3-2 defeat or some such.
