  1. Jesus christ. Fantastic start, but does go to show this lineup is overkill, which was my impression as soon as I saw it. If we go 3 up, Dack should come off immediately. This early in the season, he needs to be fresh for Hull. I was bemused that he started, even if it sounds like he was involved in Arma's goal too.
  2. Not having a go Chaddy, but I'd rather read a bit of a digression of topic (as long as it doesn't go on forever) than have the same people saying the same things about the same targets over and over and over, and having the same arguments, which is what happens most days.
  3. I'm sorry but Kevin Davies WAS a dolloper at Rovers, relative to price and expectation. We wouldn't have had to sell him back for a fraction of the price, only for him to be released by Southampton a further 4 years down the line, otherwise. Simply because he eventually went on to be a good player at a middling Prem team that suited him, several seasons after he played for us, does not rewrite history. We were trying to get back in the elite at the time (a level he never reached) and he was our record buy at the time, being talked about as a new Shearer. Is it any wonder our fans deemed his 1 goal return in a season we got relegated as anything other than dolloping? Lost Beattie in the deal too. Kevin f*%£ing Davies. Please. One of the worst deals we ever did. Still angry about it!!
  4. Fact check: Saying something is likely is not the same as a deadline.
  5. I think Davenport was brought in with the same deep-lying playmaker role in mind, just that TM thinks he isn't quite ready for it yet and wants someone who is.
  6. Actually, you'll drift aimlessly for a century (best case scenario using currently untested tech) in the desolate abyss of space, until eventually your cold corpse possibly reaches the nearest star. Hopefully not an exact analogy for our fate.
  7. Well, we've drawn our first two games, but last season we lost our first two, so in a way it's progress! Especially in a tougher league. First half we were abysmal though, Millwall were dominant and could have been two up by half time and it wouldn't have been unfair on us. Second half was a vast improvement. On balance, a draw was fair. Rothwell looked bright in his cameo, may have more to offer than I previously thought. Palmer has had nothing but praise on here so far...but I don't agree all the way. I'm excited about him, he does look promising and like he can make things happen, certainly, and has a good turn of pace and quick feet. However, so far, I feel he is a little like a Championship Raheem Sterling - the one at the World Cup, not the one on fire for City last year. Flattering to deceive, making the wrong decisions at times. Sometimes he looked a little too casual and like he has to turn on the flair every time he gets the ball. I'm sure Tony will drill that out of him though, and I'm very excited to see what he can deliver when that happens. He can definitely provide that X factor when he settles in. I think it's time to drop Smallwood, and Bell should retain his spot. Arma didn't do much today, but I'd rather have him where Benno was, and Bennett in place of Smallwood.
  8. Very attacking down our left side today (according to the LT predicted formation) with both Palmer and Bell starting. I do wonder if it might leave us with some vulnerabilities down that side from counters though (although at least Bell is quick so could charge back if he isnt too far up). Wonder if we would be better switching Palmer and Bennett's flanks. Who do Millwall play down the right? Edit - nevermind, looks like Bennett on the left after all.
  9. To be honest though, not being funny but that's incredibly sad, to waste a day off work just to keep an eye on the window closing, and in no way the club's fault. I hope they had other things they were doing too. Mowbray has been clear he won't panic buy today and intends to use the loan window with perm deals worked in, if we don't get the right deals today.
  10. Yep very likely some agent-'leaked' rumours in these coming out now. What's interesting is that we haven't been used in fake rumours to drum up interest earlier in the window. I suspect it is only happening now because we finally splashed out, on Arma, so now the claims of having money finally sound believable and we can be used. I'd expect we do have bids in for quite a few, but we weren't hearing about them before. Some of these will be true, but I doubt it's simply that Ewood has sprung a huge leak suddenly.
  11. Those exact players and team, of course not. But I'm not remotely surprised he reached that level, no. Rated him when he was here, disappointed we sold him, and fully expected him to go on to better things. Just didn't get the luck or runs in the team at the right times with us, and wasn't a Big Sam type of striker. I'm not being revisionist either, I'm confident you could find posts from me at the time saying similar. I wasn't alone either.
  12. Good response to be fair. She is all about his impressive 'tackle'.
  13. She does look gutted to be fair. Seems to be her default expression.
  14. Sounding like we will be replacing that g with nk if we do that.
  15. Tried this on two devices and the link won't open on either. Could you summarise/quote?
  16. If his new deal is the same length as the old one, more pay, and has a release clause (unless far higher than an existing one), then whoever agreed to that should never handle contract negotiations for the rest of their life.
  17. We aren't signing a third left back to supplant an ever-present from last season and a guy we spent half a million on to compete with him 8 months ago. You might as well not think about that, it absolutely won't happen whether you think it should or not.
  18. Haven't you ever gone to a game equipped with binoculars, swotted up on what potential signings from other clubs' youth teams look like, and painstakingly perused everyone in the director's box? For shame. What do you do at games? Watch the football or something? With your own bare eyes?
  19. I'm fine with the Downing deal. You need 4 centre backs for a season, and Downing is someone who is very cheap and won't throw toys out of prams due to being 4th choice. Looks like Mowbray is looking for a more capable 3rd choice (and possibly genuine competition for the main spots), and it isn't any good having lads like Wharton waste away being 4th choice. Wouldn't read too much into him not being on the bench. I think he had an injury issue recently? So likely not fully fit. Mowbray probably felt Bell was a more versatile sub to have (and is higher rated). Williams could have gone inside for Bell, so why waste a sub slot, may have been the thinking.
  20. Shouldn't underestimate Millwall. Did very well last season and for much of yesterday were leading 2-0 against one of the most fancied and well funded teams in the league. Won't be a cakewalk.
  21. No, but he is the ten times board champion of it.
  22. I actually don't agree. Jal has been winding people up on here for years and is highly fortunate he hasn't been permanently banned. He is fresh off a 1 month ban and acting up already. I also don't think the comments have been beyond the pale, bar one or two, they're just the usual fare many others have to put up with. He is simply attracting more of them because he is making such provocative statements. Intentionally, in my view.
  23. Cos we want him. In fairness, being linked or not being linked doesn't seem to mean much with Rovers these days. We get who we get, and at most, there are a handful of days warning from the press.
