  2. I certainly know how I will remember him, everybody else can remember him how they like, and when they tell me it was as the newcastle legend, i just might remind them that he only won 1 medal and it wasn't in black n white
  3. Personally I think Cheltenham is crap Just about sums up my feelings after today - Mr Bet 365 and Mr Skybet must be laughing all the way to the bank tonight. What a nightmare day I have had. So much for Hardy Eustace making a dream 3 timer. Will just have to try doubly hard tomorrow
  4. It is closed from 2100 on Wednesday - went past last night - What about heading down the M61 to the M62 - probably quicker than diverting via Heap Bridge and Heywood to the M62. M65-M61-M60 becomes M62. A bit further around but not much. Thanks to Quack & Al - Defo seems to lean towards 65 - 61 at least we can stay on the motorway instead of some dodgy diversion route.
  5. If i remember correctly after coming back from the weds league game against manure there were some signs on the motorway indicating the slip road from the m66 to the m62 (leeds&hull) was to be closed on weds 15th in the evening. Does anybody else who is travelling back to yorkshire after the game have any ideas which is the best way around this? Any ideas would be appreciated. Cheers Managed to find this on the Manchester News Page. "NIGHTMARE roadworks today came to one of Greater Manchester's busiest motorways - and they will last for much of this year. A £4m contract for essential resurfacing and bridge work on the M66 will last until September. Preliminary work began last month with a 40 mph speed limit imposed to protect workers while the temporary lanes were put in place. But they began in earnest today between the start of the motorway at the junction with the A56 at Edenfield and busy junction 4 where it links with the M60. The limit has been raised to 50mph. Occasional overnight closures of entry and exit slip roadswill also be necessary at times. A 50 mph speed limit will be in force throughout the road works - enforced by highly-visible speed cameras. " Sounds like its going to be fun

  11. Well, after just getting home from the game and its only 10.30 pm it does make a change. Must be what a home game feels like to all you rovers fans that live in blackburn. Rovers win 2-1 Matteo heads home a lovely dead ball in from Savage. We could have some good set pieces this season if MGP and Savage can keep their deliveries coming. Jay has another injury that means he has to be substituted early in the second half. Also think that Sergio Peter had an injury in the first half. Jansen scores - Yippee!! Unfortunately I do not believe that he can start above dickov in the pecking order. Dickov put himself about well in the first half. Funniest thing seen in along while, around the 65 min mark, the ball goes for a goal kick and the entire grimsby line up all march to the centre circle and applaud the fans and the reserve line up from the bench all come on and replace them. "cheerio cheerio" comes from the rovers end. Still a bit worried about gresko's so called defending. From a couple of set pieces he still seems more interested in grabbing the attacker rather than getting the ball clear. Seemed to hear the announcer state that gallagher came on at half time to replace gresko, yet both started the second half. I think that Gary Harkins came on twice ( There's only 2 Gary Harkins) in the second half. Rovers seemed to give the ball away too easily and the grimsby 2nd team had a bit of pace and got behind the defence a few times late on. Although their finishing left a lot to be desired. All in all, some more minutes play for savage and a win for rovers.
  12. so can someone clarify where we are playing ?? I am now so confused, read 1 bit, got somewhere else, read further down page, then its somewhere else again. where ??

  16. What a great night for Tony Parkes. Really enjoyable evening. Tugay was a treat to watch. Stead still looks like he could be an excellent player next season. Flowers made a couple of good stops early on. Ripley looked keen and kept jay on his toes in the 1st half. Shearer - Words not needed. Altogether a really great 1st half and a decent 2nd half. Fancy seeing Flowers, Hendry, Cowans, Atkins, Ripley, Shearer, Gallacher, Newell, Speedie and Garner all performing well for their years back at Ewood for one last hurrah. Just got the feeling through the last 20 mins that with our youngsters on, they were looking very cocky and sure of themselves and never really gave the other team much of the ball. I hope that is a good sign for the future, although they do all look rather frail in size. Not sure who missed the sitter towards the end of the second half, seemed easier to score but somehow put it past the post ?? Reminded me off a previous striker that "alledgedly" needed more than a couple of chances to score
  17. Dont they just Norwich have just taken the lead, 1-0 68 mins Safri
  18. Well Where do I start Absoloutely spot on train conductor on the way from doncaster to derby - this bloke deserves a medal, sorted out about 5 groups of rovers fans and then as we were getting off, wished us luck over the tannoy system. Top Man. Great sets of lads on the way from doncaster through to cardiff - amazing what blue & white can do for meeting people. Great atmosphere - Didn't really go with a flourish the game but enjoyable in patches. Managed a couple of quick pints after then decided to catch an early train home. Got 2 gooners sat next to us, couldn't believe how nice they were, real fans that go home and away and the salt of the earth for sharing the beers on the way back to doncaster. All in all a long day - 17hrs is long enough for me to be up and on the go. Just a shame that we lack a quality striker and god bless brad, a couple of amazing saves today, just to show arsenal what they are missing between the sticks.
  19. I didn't even get that Jimbo - must not have shouted loud enough. Same problem - "flexible" tickets even though I booked on a specific train. Decided to drive. But anyone thinking of catching the train at Reading or elsewhere had better check. Can you imagine being stood on the platform at 9.00, can't get on the train and no other way of getting there? After 45 years waiting I don't think I'd be very pleased. Safer to drive. Or maybe bike - cut through traffic, eh Jimbo? well well well my brother and his 2 mates turned up at the train station this afternoon and were told when the train stops at reading, " TO WADE ON" - well being 3 keen lads this seems ok to them, only problem is gonna be a train full of gooners and 3 students with blue & white on. Cant believe the almighty cock up this is going to be, they have all purchased tickets that say - SEAT NOT RESERVED - after being told that no seats are reserved, so its first come, first served, but apparently if you have a ticket, you can get on. I await the story of the platform trauma with interest. Im dreading the phone going sat am, and brother ringing to say they are stuck at reading. Keeping everything crossed
  20. can you please tell me where you heard that from ?? I have spoke to 3 different rail enquiries and the Western rail company regarding tickets on a train from Reading to Cardiff this morning, told that there was no problem, seats were not available to be reserved, first on - gets a seat. My brother and his 2 mates are travelling from Winchester, they goto reading then to cardiff - I told the rail company that i assumed the trains would be full of gooners, not apparently so to them Me thinks i may need to be ringing up again in the morning.
  21. well, i could not moan about the ticket prices too much as i would pretty much go wherever and whatever for a rovers fa cup semi-final, but i will have a moan about the ruddy trains again. Marvellous - £50.50 to get hull - cardiff - sorted so we have no busses on the journey now, all train, all the way. Ring up to book the tickets, "sorry - none available" apparently apex return tickets are subject to availability and guess ?? "none available" How many people are gonna be going on that train, there will not be more than me and my old man stood on the platform at 5.10 am on the 16th April heading to cardiff. chuffin joke!! so its now its the best part of £85. For some reason i dont object paying the prices for the game, but i am steaming at the thought of branson taking more money of me for his stinking virgin train ride.
  22. I don't im with you berkshire and capt got to believe that we will manage 20,000 for an fa cup semi final "even on a daft day, at a daft place, at a daft time" nice quote from the National Rail enquiries operator who supports Newcastle. Wished him luck till the final
  23. Many thanks, seems the gamble will have to be taken, so fingers crossed that First Great Western live upto the middle part of their name. Fingers Crossed
