  1. it still bloody well is for me train 5.20 leave - arrive cardiff at 10.45 sounds great the train stops at gloucester - so i have to get a bus from gloucester at 9.40 Does anybody have any idea if that sounds like the bus will make it in time???, not really familiar with that part of the country and how long it would be likely to take to travel from Gloucester to Newport - then a "quick train" from newport to cardiff Not looking forward to having to drive, Just because i cant guarantee that the train that magically turns into a bus halfway through the journey is going to arrive on time
  2. well dont chuffin televise the bloody thing then 7 hour journey on a train - that now needs a bus as well tell me how and why ?????????????????????????????????????? and it may well sound like im moaning, but im just sat here trying to decide how long it will take to hitch to cardiff
  3. less of the humour please it was not me, but i find my self in the unfortunate position as well train leaves hull at 5.05 am and maybe arrives in cardiff by 11.40 am 6 and a bit hours - now that makes me tired and probably drunk after reading about all the trains that are not running - now im tired and p***ed off. Why oh Why ???????
  4. Robbie has just been live on Talksport and he conducted himself very well. He explained the situation regarding the fact that he first met John Toshack at Birmingham and that Toshack talked about himself for 20 mins then spent 2 mins talking about Wales. At Toshack's first team meeting he said "I could be on a beach somewhere". That has upset Savage big style and the fact that Savage is obviously so proud to be Welsh and said he would play for any other manager to play for his country. He would have done anything possible to have got his red card 1 match ban revoked so he could have played against England. Also, Savage felt that Gary Speed should have been given the Welsh job. Toshack has left him out for personal reasons because Giggs, Hartson were both in the new squad that he was left out of, and they also pulled out of the last friendly. Savage " I know im not the best player in the world but "How can i not be in the top 24 players in Wales" ??
  5. Woke up this morning only to find that Talksport have replaced Alan Brazil this week with Rodney Chuffing Marsh. Within 5 mins of me starting my trek to work they were on about rovers ticket allocation etc What a total plonker that bloke is.
  6. Thanks for that top tip, Shame you couldnt have posted that before the last trip to cardiff coz getting out of cardiff was a total shambles.
  7. i was only little and sat in the old nuttal street with my dad and we were on the end of a row and in the next row of seats sat a bloke who was behaving differently to the rest of the rovers fans, and low and behold when that went in he was up and down the stairs like a jack in the box singing and shouting, funnily enough, he didnt make it back to his seat
  8. oh no was his name gary blisset can't for the life of me remember but a 2-0 home defeat springs to mind
  9. Thanks very much for that al My old man reads this board through my pc and upon seeing this thread decided that he would have to join up to give Mr Vernon his vote. Saved me a job there, thanks BTW mine went to Briggs.
  10. Agreed I did wonder if todd really was the man? I was amazed at his dummy spitting session last season, but maybe it does have something to do with who is now and who was incharge at the time I feel that with his performances this season he has proved himself committed to the club this season and his attitude may have changed with the managerial change.
  11. That was partly my thinking about the situation - somebody who is likely to keep a place in the side, at present maybe brad or todd or even possibly dickov. We are in the dark a little about our 2 new arrivals leadership abilities (we have all seen that savage can be a captain, but i dont think that he can command the respect for the position immediately), best to give them all time to settle and if they show enough qualities for the role then i think hughes would make a change ready for next season.
  12. i hope i dont get slammed for this but I joined in with both chants on saturday. Only sang the £2 business for a couple of times then realised that the drink was taking effect. But as for having a dig at the dingles then its surely game on Last time i checked i was not a "cretin" and I aint going anywhere either
  13. thats what still annoys me now, time off work on a friday, spend a fortune on getting their, staying over, and the tickets and he goes and does that, Great time was had by all in the end though. Was looking very shaky when jay was sent off ( I was nearly walking out then ), but im so happy to have sneaked a point from that game. A defeat would of been unthinkable, but maybe with 11 men in the second half we could have won the game.
  14. the problem is they DO take chances. The defence let the ball bounce in dangerous situations on numerous occasions. I know row Z aint pretty, but neither is to keep losing possesion by playing passes to each other when clearing the ball would be a much more easy thing to do. I know that this then goes back to the old ways of hoofing the ball clear, but at times last night, thats all the full backs did, when midfielders were asking for the ball to be played into them.
  15. I just cant decide if it was really as poor as some have been describing on here. We certainly lack quality distribution from any member of the back four. Only when lorenzo steps out with the ball does it start to resemble football. If gray & neill are to persist humping balls at stead, at least give the lad a chance to either get it down, or flick it on. Instead of just aimlessly blasting it at him with no chance of being able to control it. Im no expert defender, but if matteo is to play c-half then he must clear his lines better, at least lorenzo can head the ball up and away. The midfield seems to lack cohesion and they dont seem to be communicating with each other. Think that Flitcroft & Ferguson are too similar and covering the same ground. Brett looked more usefull than on many occasions last year, but to stick with janses for the whole game, think that maybe pedersen could have been given a chance late on. Regrettably (well fortunately) i missed the bournemouth game, does jay bothroyd warrant a chance to play?, stead + dickov looked bright but maybe bothroyd would be a little more direct and if emerton can get his crosses missing the first man, we may have a striker in the middle of the box, as when we finally got crosses into the box, we seemed short of numbers. And just to finish with, please, oh please can somebody tell me how that was not a penalty? Got to keep believing that they will turn this around, i suppose that in a worst case scenario, 17th would keep us safe. On the sky programme before the game, they chatted with the norwich fan, he seemed to think that his team would stay up, (they had done the hard games and now had a chance to pick up some wins) now there was me thinking that they would be below us
  16. rovermatt how did you know that ?? dreadfull start to the second half lucas loses his marker and we are 1 - 0 down 5 mins in 2nd half
  17. shame he didnt show as much effort for us sometimes, hell of a haymaker he swung though
  18. i sooooooooo want this to be a win, but it all just seems a little too much, too soon to hope that all our troubles are over. i feel really bad bout this, but i can only see a defeat unless we can get some kind of defensive formation sorted out. Fair enough we kept manyoo at bay for long periods, but in all our other games their have been big gaps between the midfield and defense and far too many mistakes. Portsmouth wont be the greatest in defence and i believe we can get at them, but the pace they posess on the break, scares the living daylights out of me. I pray this is wrong Rovers 1 - 2 Pompey Stead - Yakubu x 2
  19. you wanna get round here if you think im laughing about it or feeling good, it hurts mate, trust me, fantasy footy points are just light relief thank god that im off work till tuesday so the 2 gooners there should have forgot about it.
  20. eddie, there's no need for that, although it will help mine as well
  21. judging from the radio 5 report after 20 mins henry has had a couple of efforts that brad has saved well and dickov and stead combined to go very close come on rovers
  22. here here american, still cant get the chat to work whilst on a work pc, i now wish i was at home, at least i could listen to our plight instead of just waiting for the inevitable
  23. 1. Chelsea 2. Arsenal 3. Newcastle 4. Liverpool 5. Manure 6. Man City 7. Blackburn 8. Fulham 9. Birmingham 10. Aston Villa 11. Charlton 12. M'boro 13. Southampton 14. Bolton 15. Everton 16. Portsmouth 17. Spurs 18. C Palace 19. West Brom 20. Norwich
  24. what a great start to the new campaign, i hope the league season starts like this although with a slightly different line up. This might give us something other than souness & cole to talk about ( for a few hours at least )
