  1. I'd suggest the reason is they're still advertising this: https://jobs4football.com/job/loan-manager/ Tin pot – nobody in the role to push for moves, so we’re left with youngsters who are either too good or too old for the U21s and in need of men’s football experience, but they’ll be sat on the sidelines for the next four months.
  2. They could've had Alfie Gilchrist for £1m or so just a few days ago 😕
  3. add: Calling back the throw in in second half JW side when we were through only to give it to Rovers Getting in the way of one of our attackers again in the second half as were moving forward Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying he's cost us the game - the players have done that themselves but it was a pretty shite performance. That said, most are.
  4. Still 4/5 short for me... Hopefully Morishita and Gudjohnsen make up 2 of those but still need a proper midfielder, CB and backup GK. Lack of talk re a centre midfielder makes me concerned they're now not replacing Buckley and have replaced Travis with a crock. We can't go through the next few months with the same options in the middle as today.
  5. Can't say I agree with writing Harry Leonard off cos he was 'bullied' when he arrived on the scene - he was 19 ffs! I'd like to see him stay and given a chance, but it appears off field issues (not fitness) are going to put an end to that. The deal reportedly agreed this morning seemed a good one all round - hopefully it can be salvaged and with time for the club to bring in someone they will play. No point in him playing U21 football all season.
  6. If they are replacing players that looked out of favour and with no way back, with signings to go into the team then I will give them credit. My expectation/fear is that given Buckley/Duru/Leonard/Pears haven’t been involved then they've not been counted as needing to be replaced. If they do then the squad quickly looks to have a chance: Toth, NEW, Young keeper Alebiosu, Miller, Hyam, Carter, McLoughlin, Wharton, Ribeiro, Pickering Tronstad, Taveres, Baradji, NEW, Forshaw, Montgomery NEW WINGER Kargbo, Henriksson, Cantwell, Tyjon, Hedges, De Neve Ohashi, Gueye, NEW If Gueye isn't fancied and he is shipped out, 2 strikers coming in that can compete with/are better than Ohashi then happy days. Of course we're reliant on players hitting the ground running and I still think we lack quality on the left but the squad potentially could be a lot better than expected given all the experienced departures. Over to you RG...
  7. Travis, Britain, Batth, Wiemann, Dolan, etc are not snakes. They've been managed out. Good work from the club though because snakes fits the narrative it's the players/manager's fault and deflects the attention away from the shit show.
  8. Just looked at some of the low value transfers in the division... Imagine a world where a club builds on progress and keeps their better players: Toth, Pears Brittain, NEW Batth, Hyam, Carter, Wharton Pickering, Ribeiro Travis, Tronstad, NEW, NEW Dolan, NEW Cantwell, Wiemann Kargbo, NEW Ohashi, Gueye, NEW, NEW Ryan Hardie comes in for £750k and any other striker from Emil Riis, Carlton Morris or Oli McBurnie on a free. Djeidi Gassama for one of the wing spots - £2m, Kwame Poku on a free for the other. Jeffrey Schlupp & John Swift on frees to cover midfield. I'd be confident of a top 4 finish with JE in charge. Instead we've spent around £4m (plus when the accounts are released no doubt we'll have one of the highest agent expenditures in the division) on mostly untested foreign imports. (Whilst bringing in roughly the same in sales let's not forget) For anyone saying 'but the wages'... Adam Wharton, Sammie Szmodics, David Raya, Sam Gallagher, Leo Wahlstedt, Niall Ennis, Thomas Kaminski, Ashley Phillips, etc, etc. £40m+ income over the past 2 years. Fuck knows where we'll be and what the squad will look like in another 12 months.
  9. Saw much more from Leo Duru in less games last year than Montgomery has shown at the end of last season and this. He's also played more games at a higher level. Would rather have him around and loan KM for more experience. But, he's not 6 foot and can't cover 2 positions so less value...
  10. 6th August they updated the website to add the new performance guy. Lowe has remained on there since the end of season - never taken off and re-added.
  11. Another striker doesn't need to come in as a third choice. Every signing we make should be better than what we have already and this window we haven't done that. Keep on that way and we're forever downgrading and it will only lead to relegation.
  12. They need to bring in players to replace the goals of Dolan and Wiemann to a squad that was already short of them. They need at least 2 players capable of hitting double figures. Plus CB, CM and that's before likely outgoings. Since the end of the season they're down 4 forwards - the above + Woodrow & Dennis. They've brought in DeNeve. Regardless the impact of the 2 loan forwards, they were bodies in the squad and would have been expected to contribute more.
  13. Narrative leaked to say he's refused to play. Who's to say Rovers didn't pull him out so they can bank the transfer money...? Fans lap it up, it's all the players fault, we tried to keep him, bla bla bla... They've already got his replacements in - new guy and the young lad who started today. They'll net £2.5m+ whilst splashing out a few hundred grand and paying a much lower wage. Anyway, that's for a different thread.
  14. We have again reached out to the club today, however given the radio silence since SW left I think it's accepted we'll likely have the same again. The consensus is we may be waiting until the new 'CEO' is appointed but we'll keep pushing in the meantime. It's a much changed board - previously I believe there were 10 members and as above, 2 of those have departed with 5 new supporters joining. That, along with a change at the top will see a lot of new ideas discussed. We had a very encouraging meeting last night, there's a lot of enthusiasm on how we can make WATR better for it's members. If anybody has comments on what that would/should look like, do feel free to reach out - either here or to me personally. I expect we'll start communicating more over the coming weeks.
  15. A post by Travis saying she'll be missed and Rovers advertising her job isn't enough confirmation? She's gone...
  16. Obviously not speaking for Mattyblue but the people at the club just do not care/want to listen. The coalition attempted dialogue before the Watford game with regards ticket prices and contacted the head of marketing expressing concerns over pricing. The response that came back was pretty much 'not my job'. When asked who was responsible and would she provide contact information for who was, she said no she wouldn't pass on internal email addresses. It was also highlighted that the pricing for the Sheffield Weds midweek game was £5 up on the club's own policy which caused no reaction. They are arseholes.
  17. It's not going to happen but let's not forget there's the £500k-£750k they got for JE to use if they wanted to sack him. Use that and go grovel to Gary O'Neil..
  18. Someone in the group spotted it first, I then put the statement through a paid tool I use daily - https://quillbot.com/ai-content-detector and followed up by putting it through 3/4 others - a search for 'check for AI' pulls up a number of free tools.
  19. We've run that statement through a couple of tools to check for AI content - around half of it was produced by a ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, or similar. They couldn't even be arsed to draft a proper response...
  20. At £499 and £23 > £69 for me I think they can keep it... Edit, just looked and it's £101 more than what I paid last year. Bunch of c....
  21. I get the impression all these hangers on just turn up every day, go through the motions then bugger off home. Succession planning? No chance - that would require some work. They're reactive rather than proactive.
  22. Looking online and it seems Ismail's preferred formation is 3 at the back. Not sure changing the tactics at this stage of the season and given where we are in the league is a good move. Also read this: "But Ismael is no stranger to working with meagre resources. Indeed, he turned Barnsley into play-off contenders on the back of a net spend of just £800k. Even at West Brom, he was forced to operate under a tight budget, operating mainly in the loan and free transfer market" That last line sounds familiar... Also: 🤐 Briefly reading up on Wagner and his style looks to fit better with the players here: https://www.pinkun.com/news/23422545.norwich-city-tactical-analysis-david-wagners-impact/ For me these last 12 games need to be about pushing on with what the team have done well at so far, and guiding/motivating them over the line. If the choice is one of these it seems obvious Wagner would be the better option.
