  1. The Aussies are getting nervous - love it!
  2. The amount of times I've been mentioned in this thread, despite hardly posting on it, is incredible!! Anyway, the most ignorant poster on the board's pet hate is ignorant people. You really couldn't make it up! You must really hate yourself something rotten Theno. As for the assertion that "all us luvvies" pm and chat about your good self - don't make me laugh. You're not that important or interesting. I suspect it's just that we all think you're a bit of a...well, you know the rest. Oh, and you don't have to be a committee man to contribute or help in the running of BRISA. You could simply let us know any ideas you have or make any suggestions you think would help. I won't hold my breath waiting for them though.
  3. Matt Jansen, during the second half of our first season back in the Premiership, was the best striker I've seen at Ewood since Shearer. His partnership with Cole was excellent and they both worked together superbly. One performance that sticks in my mind is away to Bolton, just after our Worthy Cup win, when Cole had been sent off early on. We were 1-0 down at half-time, down to 10 men, in the bottom 3, and I think we all thought we were going down at that point. Jansen turned things around almost single-handedly in the second half by producing one of the most complete forward displays I've seen from anyone, Shearer included. Jansen was excellent during that season and deserved to be called up to the World Cup squad. How anyone can claim he wasn't up to it - well, they simply must have forgot how good he was.
  4. Just wallow in your defeat sonny. How's that 5-0 prediction working out?
  5. Good grief, another mention. You're obsessed man.
  6. Or maybe you'd only need 4 bowlers in which case you could replace Lee with Clarke.
  7. I think if you did a combined team on what we've seen so far it'd be: Langer Trescothick Vaughan © (less runs than Ponting but a better captain imo) Martyn Pietersen Flintoff Gilchrist Warne Lee Harmison McGrath Not a bad team really!
  8. For the first time in a long time the Aussies are facing a bowling attack who can exploit their technical flaws. They've not had to examine their games too much in recent years but now they are facing a stiff examination and some of them are coming up short. England's batting line up has the same problems. The likes of Trescothick, Strauss and Vaughan have all performed magnificently against mediocre teams but are now seeing their flaws exposed. As for the last test, what a match. England thoroughly outplayed their opponents for most of the game, so it shows the character of the Aussies to get so close at then end. But this England team are used to winning now and up stepped Harmi just when we needed him. To be honest though it should never have even been a contest. After Ponting's ridiculous decision to put England in, we had the opportunity to score 600 in the first innings but blew it by playing too agressively. We seemed to get carried away by the atmosphere and the occasion and too many of our batsmen gave their wicket away after getting good starts. It just needed one of them to knuckle down and get a big hundred but no-one was disciplined enough to do it. Still, we won and that's all that really matters. Knocks a few of those 5-0 to the Aussies predictions out of the water anyway. The toss will be crucial at Old Trafford. OT has a reputation for turning but it has also been a great batting wicket all season. Whoever wins the toss will bat and will have to score big runs if they want to win - especially if its England as Warne (and maybe McGill) will become a bigger threat as the game goes on. Thursday would be a good time for Vaughan to win his first toss of the series.
  9. I'm not spokesman for anything, just one of a number of people trying to set the ISA up.
  10. I've entered - SuperSmashingLovely is up and running. I'll almost certainly forget I've entered within a month though.
  11. Absolutely marvellous stuff. And what a performance by Freddie. He's carrying an injury but still managed to be the best batter and bowler. Finish them off early tomorrow England and then we can move on to Manchester with all the momentum. Can't wait.
  12. Your views always do you tremendous credit of course Theno. Or should I say Thicko.
  13. If you can't see the difference between the two quotes then you're thicker than I thought - and that is really saying something. One is condemning extremism, one is tarring all immigrants, extremist or not, with the same brush.
  14. Paul Allott's just summed it up nicely for me on the Sky Sports highlights. England have won 6 sessions to none so far in this test match - when was the last time we did that in a meaningful test against the Aussies? All we need tomorrow is one batsman to get a big score, say over 80, and we'll end up with a lead of 300+. That should, should, be enough. It would be lovely though if Tresco and Vaughan could put together a 100 partnership - thus allowing Flintoff and Pietersen to come in and take the pi55 for a while. As for Warne, he's brilliant, but Strauss can't play him. Some of our other batters are more capable but it'll be difficult. He can only bowl at one end though and, let's face it, none of the other bowlers are remotely threatening are they? Attack Warne, try and put him off his stride, and milk the rest of them. We'll never have a better chance to beat them. Come on England!
  15. As the reigning champion of this prediction league thingy I suppose I should try and defend my trophy! Chelsea Liverpool Arsenal Man U Tottenham Rovers Everton Bolton Middlesboro Newcastle Charlton Portsmouth Man City Aston Villa Birmingham Wigan Fulham West Brom West Ham Sunderland I really didn't want to predict Rovers as high as that but, when I looked at it, I couldn't see many teams better than us.
  16. I'm going one day after the cricket. I'll be the one looking rougher than usual (hard to imagine I know). Good preview Ozzie. The arrogance of those West Ham fans is hilarious - they haven't a prayer of staying up. Predictions: 3-1 Rovers. Bellamy hat-trick. And my hangover will start to feel a bit better at around 7pm.
  17. But 200 short of what we should have got on that wicket against that attack.
  18. This months When Saturday Comes magazine includes a separate season preview section where a fan of every league club writes a short piece on how they feel their club's season will pan out. One of the questions they have to answer is "If you owned your club what would you do?". Amongst other things Bruce Wilkinson, the chap who wrote the Rovers preview, states that he'd invite a representative of the newly-formed Rovers ISA onto the board! We've got national publicity already and we've not even publically launched yet! Nice one Bruce, whoever you are.
  19. More insightful reporting from our media friends. Football 365 want us to go down
  20. The problem is how do we decide what to replace it with? I suppose we could ask everyone for suggestions and pick the most popular, or even run a poll of some sort on the ISA web-site, but there'll still be people who won't be happy with the result. Any ideas anyone?
