  1. Betting still available on Betfair!!! I've covered my earlier losses!
  2. Just looked on Betfair and Souness is back down to odds-on favourite again. Someone must know something as there has been very little in the media linking Souness to the job. Anyway, I've layed it so he'll be off within the hour! Can't say I'd be sorry.
  3. The question isn't "who's the best right back you've seen for the Rovers" it's who's the best Rovers right-back ever. Try to be objective (look it up).
  4. I was wondering if the mods could maybe develop some sort of numpty alert? Maybe more than two txt words per post or more than three smilies could trigger it and then we'd know not to bother reading the post.
  5. I'm probably as anti-Souness as most on here but I can't really argue with his transfer record. Grabbi apart most of Souness's buys have come off and been worth the money. What is questionable is the quality players he's let go and whether he's replaced them. Personally, I think he's been slow or even downright negligent in replacing some of the players he sold.
  6. Which numpty voted for Lucas Neill??!!
  7. I obviously never saw Bob Crompton play but anyone who makes 608 appearances for the club must have been doing something right. As for the ones I did see, Chris Price was probably the most exciting and the one who I remember the most fondly. I'd say Atkins was a better midfielder and Berg was a better centre-half. May, Perez, Kenna and Branagan were average at best and Lucas needs to pull his finger out this season before he even becomes worthy of consideration.
  8. SSN just said that Yorke can't agree terms with Brum.
  9. Positives: - We played a balanced team with everyone in their correct positions (apart from Matteo). - Probably as a result we looked much more of a threat going forward than we have done so far this season. - I didn't rate Dickov before he came, and I'm still not totally convinced, but he's starting to win me over. He played well yesterday. - Emerton actually looked like the class winger we thought we'd bought last summer. - Friedel was simply outstanding. Negatives: - I think playing Ferguson and Tugay together makes our midfield too lightweight. We were up against a relatively lightweight United midfield yesterday but they still controlled things for large parts of the game. - We look very dodgy at the back against pace. Both Short and Amoruso are superb against physical centre forwards (like Smith) but looked dodgy as hell when Saha came on. - Pedersen looked lost for most of the game. He'll improve but he'll have to. He really should have scored. - Where was Gray? - The manager should have had the balls to take Yorke off when Amoruso was sent off. Dickov would have worked United's defence far harder than Yorke did in the last 20 minutes. - The referee was a clown throughout. We were robbed at the end but it shouldn't disguise the fact that United were far better than us and, but for a remarkable game by Friedel and some poor finishing, would have won comfortably. We did, however, look better than in previous games and we won't play teams with the quality United have every week.
  10. Flowers only had one game like Friedel did today (the famous VE game). Friedel does it two or three times a season at least.
  11. Vendetta!! I can honestly say I've never even thought twice about you CLB. As for the quote above, I just quoted the last post. If I'm guilty of anything its laziness. Anyway, you're obviously a sensitive flower so I apologise for calling you a clown. I'm sure you'll be quick to apologise to everyone who didn't attend the Lisbon game for calling them "spoon-fed pussies". You seem to have one rule for yourself and another for everyone else.
  12. Ha ha ha. I couldn't give a toss if I'm getting on your nerves CLB. It's a messageboard - get over yourself. If I remember rightly, you made a personal attack against everyone who didn't attend the Ewood pre-season friendly. Where exactly in my above post was I not conducting myself in an appropriate or constructive manner? Where did I ridicule anyone? I just said that I thought none of the midfield you advocated could tackle. Or are we all supposed to agree with your every word?
  13. Spot on - my team exactly. Not a single person in midfield who can tackle.
  14. You have to admire the irony of you of all people questioning whether my posts have a point. To answer the question though, I get annoyed when people say that I know less about football than them just because I have a different opinion.
  15. Is there anyone, other than Dalgliesh obviously, that you would be happy with? Or are you just generally miserable?
  16. Pete Kay's would be funnier, let's get HIM in. Only read this thread to see exactly HOW dumb and ignorant some people are. ( and that's not aimed at you Alan75) Quite staggering really, Tim Sherwood once said fans don't know anything about football. I'm beginning to think he had a point. He certainly did if he'd talked to you just before he said it.
  17. 5-1 it was. 1st leg League Cup. Return game at Ewood not surprisingly saw lowest crowd, and was played out in pouring rain - some things never change! Bryan's talking about the game at the back-end of the 1993-94 season when a win would have taken us top. We lost 4-1 after taking the lead. I was there and it was a totally depressing night.
  18. I was fairly apathetic about the Arsenal result. We were always going to lose that one so I'm no more worried than I was before the game. This game's different though. This is Man Utd. United represent everything that's bad about football. The corporate greed, the arrogant fans, the souless stadium, the graceless manager, the merchandising arm that sucks the lifeblood out of their supporters - all equally loathsome, all equally hateful. This is our chance to knock them down a peg or two. To show them that a proper football club can succeed, at least for a day or two, against the corporate giant. But can our manager come up with a team to beat them? I've no doubt that we've got the players to do it, but will Souness be bold and pick some of our creative, attacking players? Will we set out from the off with the intention of winning the game rather than simply trying not to get beat? Will we play everyone in their correct positions - left footers on the left, right footers on the right, central midfielders in central midfield, defenders in defence? I've no idea. I've totally lost confidence in our manager. So this is a plea to you Souey. Play an attacking team, take the game to them, and try to make us proud of the team again. Just give us something, anything to cling on to and show us that you still know how to produce a winning team. I can take getting beat. We really have no right to expect anything different given the cost of their squad compared to ours, their wage bill compared to ours. But let's show a bit of fight, a bit of determination to attack from the off and try and win the game. Let's show the arrogant Manc tossers that we're no pushovers and that we can more than match them on our day. I'd play: Friedel Neill Amoruso Short Gray Thompson Ferguson Flitcroft De Pedro Stead Dickov Rovers 2 Man U 1 Fu(king come on.
  19. The feeling's mutual. I'd have made a fortune over the years from your wonderful tips.
