  1. Nonsense . The only way that legalisation of drugs could be made to work would be for the government literally to give them away on demand . Can you really imagine the Ipswich prostitutes and other hopeless cases suddenly deciding to do an honest weeks work to pay for their drugs ? They'd still get involved in crime to pay for the stuff . However , if you advocate the legalisation and free distribution of hard drugs , make no mistake you are giving the green light and actively encouraging the state in killing its own citizens . By paying taxes to subsidise the process you are complicit in that crime . You think we have a lot of addicts now ; get the government acting as dealers and you'd see a dmn sight more . Personally I'd rather the government try and minimise the waste of human life by taking the hard line against the dealers and educating its youth to a respectable level .
  2. Everybody involved in the business make it run - not just the top men . A zero tolerance approach to all is the best option . Death penalty for the top dealers , harsh prison sentences for the other dealers , cold turkey for the addicts . The greater the punishment the greater the deterrent .
  3. That's a fair enough assessment . 6 prem goals he's scored now (I think) but think how many he could have with more application and timing ? And a fellow striker without the name Nonda might help as well ....
  4. You have to remember , Joey , that The Drog is basing his opinion on the evidence of one off games against "unattractive" opposition .
  5. Who ? Me ? I'm a season ticket holder ....and yes I was there last night !! Cheeky bugger
  6. Well said . The number of useless high , long balls hoofed forward was an embarrassment to players aspiring to be premiership regulars . Not only that but the ball control and passing of our lot was truly shocking at times . Add that to our inability to compete and battle effectively with the opposition (what used to be our strong point) and we have a very worrying situation . The off the ball movement was non existent ; options for the man in possession therefore severely limited - yet these were supposed to be a team of players looking to carve a future in the team ! I am all in favour of new blood being thrown in to keep the regulars on their toes but it has to be said that none of those given their chance last night did anything to justify a place in the team on Saturday . Although , having said that , their isn't much to choose from the first 11 either way you look at it . Savage and Neill were about the only ones who tried to play football last night . Mokoena had a decent 20 minutes at the start I suppose .....
  7. That's a fair point . We were about 3,500 down on what we get for premier matches . Two questions for Drog . How many would have been there if the tickets had been priced at £25 and £15 concessions ? Would a smaller crowd and the subsequent lack of atmosphere have had a knock on effect with regards to the players' peformances and the prospect of the attendees' returning ?
  8. Don't talk absolute rubbish , Colin . To imply that , in these post Taylor days , that everything would revert to the days of the 70's if a safe standing areas were introduced is simplistic beyond belief . Reforms on the lines of those put forward in this thread could be introduced without us being transported back in time . They may even inspire people to return to the grounds . Either way people would have more choice .
  9. Colin's problem is that he is the most intolerant person on this board in that he hates debating issues on which people disagree with his views . Much easier to swipe from the sidelines . It's a pity because as an (ex) heroin user he might have something to add to the debate on this subject . It could be that his brain has been addled by the experience . Which is a shame really ..... Does the word "Ipswich" have any relevance ? Any proof that he (if it is a he ) comes from Ipswich? Got a problem with Ipswich , jimbo ? An agenda maybe ....?
  10. Bloody hell , jim ; you call me "Enoch" on average about ten times a post
  11. So Mr Big got 12 years plus 7 for not handing over the millions he has made . So he'll probably be out ruining other lives in about 8 years or so . BTW - I'm sure the threat of the rope would have helped persuade him to hand over the dosh ......
  12. It certainly does . I don't think I could manage without the post and pre match pints .
  13. Probably the bit between the kick off and the final whistle ....
  14. OK jim , you've convinced me . Zara Phillips it is for me then .....
  15. Not good enough , Tris . Not nearly good enough . Middlesbrough are hardly a great attraction , so let's look at the other two games we're playing this month. Newcastle - Cheapest concession £13 ; Adult prices range from £24 -£37 . Liverpool (Boxing Day) - Cheapest concession £16 ; Adults from £27 to £39 . Now this is December , a time when there are other priorities for families . Thousands of potential fans are going to look at the price of the Liverpool game in particular and laugh at the club's feeble , half hearted attempts to get the crowds back . They are NOT going to be tempted by Boro !!! It's time to get real . If the crowds are going to be tempted back then the price of tickets have to come down drastically ALL the time - not just for the crappy games . If adult tickets are going to remain above £20 then concessions have to come down to £2 or £3 to get the families in . Those who determine the pricing structure has a long way to go yet , I'm afraid .
  16. Put it this way , Drog ; he's had less of a chance than Jeffers .....and yet you rate him for some reason that escapes most of us - despite the evidence or lack of it . I'd give either Gally or Derbyshire a start on Saturday instead of Nonda - although I won't be expecting much from any of them at the moment .
  17. However , cycling is a minority sport with little or no credibility when it comes to true sporting prowess . You may as well vote for the Pharmacist of the Year . Women's cycling may not be as contaminated as the men's but it's hardly high profile and a vote for a lady cyclist would only highlight the deficiencies in British sport at the moment .. Calzaghe , on the other hand , is one the greatest boxer these shores have produced . His record speaks for itself in the hardest and noblest sport of them all . Daren Clarke has said that he doesn't want the sympathy vote .....but will probably be ignored . The public will text and phone him their votes for all the wrong reasons . Never mind Joe ....
  18. Knee jerk reactions indeed ....but to some of us the writing has been on the wall for ages now . Two clowns up front ; one who has a modicum of skill and might , just might if given the right managerial treatment help get us through this difficult period until such a time as he can be shown the door . The other , I'm afraid is beyond redemption - ( I won't dig up the Nonda thread , some might be embarrassed that they ever saw anything in him) So the answer is either to play with the lone "striker" - if I may refer to McCarthy as that - in a 4-5-1 system , or to try another striker alongside BM . For the game on Saturday I would persevere with two up front - maybe it's time to throw Derbyshire in the deep end . Having not seen the game yesterday I'll take the word of those who said Gallagher had a shocker ....and apologies to The Drog but I just don't think Jeffers is strong enough at this level - even though this level isn't very good at all . All in all , it's pretty depressing and worrying that Hughes , the great striker that he was , can't motivate half the team who are supposed to be our threat . Thankfully this is one of the feeblest premiership leagues there's ever been ; once Nelsen and Reid get back and with a signing or two in the window we will survive .
