  1. ....and the reason I get their tickets is to encourage them to come along. Bring a friend to Ewood this season....been doing it for years!!
  2. I didn't say I was entitled to extra tickets, I said I got them without a problem..........as it happens I got one for someone who was really struggling to get hold of a ticket, and is travelling from overseas for this game and two others for friends of mine who visit about 10 - 12 times a season. As I usually organise their tickets for them it means my history is better than theirs.....and tickets are on open sale to anyone with a history, mine goes back a long way.
  3. Moderation Mode Off PABBY, I'd say you owe around 16000 Season Ticket holders an apology for that insult. Words fail me....we are amongst the clubs most loyal supporters and those LEAST likely to act in this way. Are you aware any ST holder selling on a Celtic ticket faces losing their ST? On 1864's point I bought 3 extras the first day they went on open sale simply by explaining I was an ST holder and I have a history of buying extra tickets. I've never had a similar request turned down.
  4. I feel Pete and SMc have a point here....we should not be too bitter about the result at Parkhead. I walked out of Parkhead bursting with pride because my team had shown the nation just how GOOD we can be. So often we get on the box and then turn into a laughing stock. I know people who don't agree with that view but it is truely how I felt and I'll take the pride in my team above the result ..... for that match. I haven't seen Celtic play for I don't know how long (I do remember the Lions of Lisbon )....and I suspect most of us have never seen them perform so perhaps we should give them the benefit of the doubt. I feel Celtic and Rangers fail every year in Europe and on the basis of Thursday Celtic wouldn't hack it in the PL... but it is difficult to judge. However I am not full of confidence for the return leg. I believe we will win but we must score at least three to avoid the disaster of playing well, going two up and then losing in the 92nd minute to an away goal.
  5. To answer your question Pete, on Thursday you saw Rovers play at the top f their game - every player performed. As many of us expected we had a serious hangover today, 5 or 6 players were well off the mark and we struggled to put our game together. The failure to score is not the serious problem opposition fans would make out - last couple of games we haven't had the bounce when it mattered. At Parkhead we should have been 3 up by HT and yesterday we should have had 2 in each half, we just need that extra bounce. We've all seen it before. We play Walsall on Wednesday and I expect most of the first choice players to be rested. Jansen will get a run out as he looks for match fitness. My guess is by the Celtic game he will be ready to partner Cole up front and then watch us go.
  6. That's put a spring in my step for today. How often we get serious press coverage that tells the truth? Excellent article.
  7. I got the impression the Parkhead pitch is considerably bigger - certainly wider - than Ewood. I wonder what influence that had on the game and will our smaller pitch benefit Celtic in the return leg? Rovers seemed to have space to play the ball throughout the match and I wondered if this came as a surpise to Celtic - playing opposition who could use that extra space and keep hold of the ball for much of the game?
  8. Absolutely bang on, there is nothing else to be said.
  9. Can we calm down a bit PLEASE. Nobody should be upset. As always our new visitors are very welcome on this site. Regulars and the visitors should remember we actually have something to "argue" about now which is why it's getting a little heated. Celtic have a fantastic stadium, friendly support and we were all made to feel really welcome. Unfortunatley there are many similiarities between Celtic and MU, there was lots of hype about the atmosphere etc. and it just didn't happen. Two hours before kick off I watched buses and coaches arriving from all over Scotland to help fill the stadium. We all know Blackburn is a small club, with low attendances and every one of us is fiercely PROUD of our achievements and the fact we have the highest percentage of LOCAL support in the Premier League. Hence the banter on here.
  10. As for the support....well? Last night less than 3000 Rovers fans drowned the famous Celtic support. I was there....the Celtic fans sang along to the TAPE of You'll Never Walk Alone and The Fields of Athenrie (sp?) before kick off and even had to put on a TAPE when you scored!! We heard very little support for your team during the match. Somehow I can't see you out singing us at Ewood....I've heard more noise at Old Trafford............SSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! There's a lot left in this fixture and we probably have to score three to go through as I believe Celtic could score at Ewood. Very difficult to predict the outcome as we should have taken our first half chances to go 3-0 up, failing to take those chances was the only downside on a great night in Glasgow. I'd like to thank the many Celtic fans who congratulated us on our team and acknowledged we should have won. Every fan I met was friendly and welcoming. Hope we do the same for you at Ewood. Very proud to have been there to witness a wonderful Rovers performance.
  11. Just in case people are still a little concerned. I've visited Glasgow for work on many occassions, in fact when in Scotland I always try to plan my trips so I can stay overnight in Glasgow. The city centre and west end are great for bars, restaurants etc. In the west end, especially the Byers Road area you can find a whole range of great places to eat with every price level and type of fodd you could need - Glasgow is a great night out. Have to say I wouldn't leave my car near Parkhead, but that's the same for areas of Leeds, Manchester, Liverpool etc. which is why we are ging on the coach!
  12. You bet Alan. We'll try to make sure you can hear us
  13. Earlier today the Celtic ticket hotline had the following message: To ENSURE this match is a sellout tickets are now on general sale. I suspect this thread may warm up again if there are 2-3000 empty seats at Parkhead tomorrow night :'>
  14. Well I'd happily echo the not falling out with anyone and I don't think it will be as easy as we like to think. Rovers fans see this as a very big game and we are very confident in our team. In Friedel we probably have the best keeper in the Premiership and our midfield and attack are capable of scoring goals from all over the park. Defensively we can be dodgy on occassions but Berg and Taylor in particular are playing well. On Saturday we kept the English Champions and, on their day, one of Europe's best attacking teams at bay for 90 minutes - and we beat them. Last week we put 5 past Newcastle. Arsenal and Newcastle are both Champions league teams and we've beaten them in consecutive games. Celtic, with respect, consistently fail in the CL, which is why you're playing us. Overall we are looking forward to a great night in Glasgow and at Ewood in two weeks. Both clubs can show England and Scotland how good they are. We have lots of confidence because we KNOW just how well we can play - we just want to take our chance to show everyone. We have a team which always raises it's game for the big match and will do so tomorrow night. Does that help? It won't be easy but my heart says Rovers will shade it if we score at Parkhead.
  15. Nils-Eric Johannson collected his fifth yellow card of the season in the 2 - 1 win at Arsenal last weekend and now receives a one match ban under the totting up procedure. In the same game Graham Barber booked Rovers captain Gary Flitcroft twice, the second booking resulting in a red card and automatic one match ban. There is a possibility the referee will rescind Flitcroft's second booking which many felt was unjustified. Both players bans come into effect from November 9th meaning they will be unavailable for the away game at Southampton
  16. Glad to hear you got a ticket Myklebust...just going to move this into the other thread.. ...sell all your tickets, you couldn't sell all your tickets
  17. So what do we think now? We've just beaten Arsenal away, last week we put 5 past Newcastle - both Champions League teams. Celtic can't hack it in the CL so things must surely look very good for Thursday night. This is our big moment. Blackburn Rovers chance to show the nation just how good we can be. Go Dunferlime Go!!!!
  18. or Newcastle United maybe? The allocation at St. James's Park is usually poor?
  19. I have a feeling Rovers will score inside ten minutes at Parkhead then have to withstand great pressure from Celtic, probably 1-1 at half time. Celtic to take a 2-1 lead and, hopefully, Rovers to come back for 2-2 in the final minutes. I think it very unlikely there will be a clear winner over the two legs, the successful team being decided on away goals or even penalties. My heart says Rovers but my head tells me this game is very unusual and too close to call. Aside from going into the next round Celtic have a massive point to prove; how will our players react at Parkhead? our leaky defence; and we have the attacking players to really get at Celtic. Should be two great games.
  20. Great news Jordan. Well done. Tom Finn again!
  21. Have to agree with both points there. It seems to me the only fair and simple system is the points method discussed on this thread and used by other clubs. 'x' points per home game 'y' points per ST 'z' points for a Worthy cup hom etc. 'a' points for away etc. etc Those with the most points get the tickets first. If you ring the MU ticket line (I confess I have done this for a friend) there's a message counting down the number of points applicable for a game. On Monday you might need 20 points but if the ticket allocation isn't taken up by Wednesday it could be down to 15 or whatever. The difficulty I see with a points system is ST holders - should they be favoured ahead of the fan who simply purchases a ticket on a match by match basis but still attends the same number of games over a season? The ST holder commits up front - very valuable - the other pays considerably more financially.
  22. From personal experience I know Tom Finn will move mountains for the fans if he can. At Cardiff he undertook to ensure I got an extra seat for my wife close to the rest of the family - we could only buy four on the STs. A few days later the club called to say I'd got the extra seat two rows directly in front and would that be good enough - made our weekend, the same stand would have been good enough! I think the club got the Celtic allocation badly wrong in many respects. However I know from the above and other help I've received that anyone who approaches Rovers calmly and politely will get as much help as the club can possibly give.
  23. All ST holders have priority for cup games, away league games etc. - it's a part of the deal when you buy the ST and one of the benefits the club sells to the supporter. Therefore if the club want to do the morally correct thing - putting ALL who travelled to Sofia ahead of the rest of us - they have to be extremley careful how it is done. No one on the MB is arguing about the correctness of the decision but I suspect a statement in the programme or on Roversion would have caused more than the odd letter of complaint to JW.
  24. I don't know Mark, but I suspect, the club deliberatley let it be known, via this board (perhaps also on the official MB), that ALL who went to Sofia - ST or non ST - would get a ticket if they made a postal application. This is hardly a statement which could have gone in the programme or on Rovervision. This the impression I and many others had.
