How many postponements have there been recently? I can’t remember many. Any modern drainage system still needs somewhere for the water to go. -
v Watford (a) - 26/10/2024

Not too much to complain about with the performance. Watford had moments but didn’t deserve to win it. We’d have been screaming for a pen if it was at our end. Gueye is going to have a long season if he doesn’t get going soon. Devoid of confidence and overthinking everything. Some of the blind passes he played were comically bad. Cantwell and Beck looked a level above everyone else. The lack of conviction in the final third is a worry, as is the general lack of pace. -

Winning games and being in the play off places is entertaining enough for me. -

A striker who didn’t manage to score? Already got several of those. I didn’t particularly notice him to be honest. WBA look a tidy team but no one player particularly stood out apart from their full back who couldn’t throw a ball properly. -

Find it odd people are choosing to criticise Eustace for his style of play despite the points tally. Birmingham thought the same last season and that panned out well.. We look well organised and hard to beat. It’s dull and attritional but we’re better at it than what we were trying to do under JDT. -

Says a lot about our squad depth that yesterday we were without Sigurdsson, Wharton, Beck, Brittain and Leonard, and it barely made a difference. The most impressive thing for me is that we look damn hard to beat. Haven’t conceded a goal since August. The longer this run goes on, the less it feels like a fluke. -

Poor game from any perspective. Similarities to the Burnley game in that the team with 10 men have a more straightforward game plan and can look more effective at both ends of the pitch. Prefer to see Gueye start over Yuki in future. Satisfied with a point. I think we all know that we’re in a bit of a false position in the league and we can’t keep relying on 20 yard screamers to win games, but we’re much harder to beat than under JDT and that alone will give us a chance in most games. -

Well, you have managed to forget.. Sukur played for us in 02/03, not 03/04. The ‘04 game was the 3-4. -

None of us have seen Toth play and he’s had no time with the team in training. Playing Pears is a risk but rushing Toth into the starting XI is arguably a bigger one. Pears will keep his place for now but I’m sure Toth will get a chance within the month. -

The flag was for Hedges being offside, not Dolan. Both are onside but Hedges is more marginal. FWIW I think Hedges could have been done for fouling their defender (another marginal call) so VAR may not have saved us anyway. -

That’s all on Gueye. Cant blame the red there. Idiot. -
Given where we were at the start of the month and even at the start of the week, this has to be seen as a decent window. Plenty of proven Championship experience plus some exciting young talent. Cantwell is a real statement at this level despite the potential attitude issues. It’s fair to question the overall financial outlay given transfer fees received but given the wider context, the recruitment team deserve credit for the names they got in. Put simply, this is the kind of window that only other clubs seemed to have and one that we’d point to as an example of how a low budget window should be done. Fair play.

Do you agree that this summer was the best time to sell Szmodics given his age and that he’ll be likely worth less next season? How many millions have Rovers lost out on in recent years by not selling players at the right time and seeing them leave for nothing? For the club to become self sustainable it has to buy low and sell high, and Szmodics is the textbook example of what we should be doing - provided we reinvest in the squad, which is the obvious question mark.

Venky’s v Indian Government (a)
magicalmortensleftpeg replied to tomphil's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I’m still struggling to fully understand the significance of the hearing. Clearly several fans believe this will directly have a bearing on whether Venky’s will sell up but has that been verified with anyone who has knowledge of the legal specifics? I previously saw something which suggested that the most likely sanction was a large fine so wondered if there’s more to it. -

The Derby game is there. Look under latest videos rather than ‘match replays’.
