I think the value of the training ground is insignificant, really. The land is pretty much worthless to developers for the medium term. No way will it be able to be used for anything other than Rovers or some form of employment. One of the big criticisms of the brockhall development plan was that it just wasn't needed. The demand for housing just is not there in this area. When Rovers first took on Brockhall it was able to get planning permission in part because Rovers stressed it would continue to be a place of employment, as that is a condition of the land following its former use as a hospital / major employer.

If Venkys sell the club they will have to put the training ground back in control of BRFC

The whole training ground development was such a bizarre move looking back on it. It was never, ever going to be allowed, so why did they even try it?

The demand for housing isn’t there?! My house in the Ribble Valley has gone up in value by over 20% in 2 years, the Ribble Valley has a population problem, you can’t get a house here!

So effectively means we can't make transfers in summer unless we sell.

Wharton and Raya money to fund the club til August.

Any funds from this application can't be used on transfers.

Cue Waggott praising owners and then not spending a penny.

    Pathetic.

Not necessarily true. The general understanding (as above) is they can still fund it as normal, but for every £1 they send to the club they have to put a £1 deposit into a Indian Government owned Bank as a deposit. Which in summer they obviously didn’t want to do. Either they’re terrified they’ll lose the case or they don’t have (or don’t want) the cash flow of double bubble.

He’s spent a fair bit of time at Brockhall since he left the job for someone who isn’t giving us a second thought.

    Very bizarre situation.

He's already uprooted his family once in the last 12 months, I would imagine with his new role being an international manager with less day to day training ground work and them now settled in schools and playing football he’s not in a huge rush to pack all the bags again — which is exactly why he left the club in the first place.

If I was him I would knock around until the end of the year simply to watch this club completely fold into a standard-less shell of its former self, just to bump into Waggott and Pasha and say “I told you so”.

in my most worst case scenario thoughts , i'm going towards this as Venkys plan

    1) Get relegated

    2) Sell players who are too good (according to agents) , recover everything ...including sale of ewood.

    3) Go into administration , points docked in L1

    4) Relegated to L2

Nobody cares about a L2 club, no shenanigans come out....

That's my nightmare , cause that's how i would get away

    i pray i'm wrong

    Add:

    5) Sell the club to a respectable consortium fronted by an either a fan, director or a former player that understands this club

…and I’ll snap your hands off at League Two. I’d absolutely love US investment from a consortium fronted by Brad Friedel.

Clearly a long time since you ventured to Ewood then...

    I'll get me coat.

Ewood admittedly has a very poor atmosphere, although that’s mostly (in my opinion) because of the way the club has been run and the knock on effects of targeted attacks on the most passionate of our fans along with misinformation to the majority of our fan base. Still, it’ll be much better tonight than most MLS games where any atmosphere is mostly engineered by “ultras” working alongside the clubs PA system.

None of this is intended as a dig by the way. It’s just two totally different cultures.

Bah, you ever been to a Texas/OU game? The Cotton Bowl is half Longhorns, half Sooners, with fans of each sprinkled in everywhere. Or Dallas Cowboys/Washington Redskins?!

y’all don’t have a lock on “atmosphere”. As much as I love my adopted sport of English footie, it’s not the ultimate in passionate crowds. Every NFL stadium here, is bigger than every English ground, with the exception of maybe Wembley.

In fact, we have a good dozen or so college stadiums larger than EVERY ground in the UK- Texas, Michigan, A&M, Tennessee, Ohio St., Alabama, the Coliseum in Los Angeles., etc. College stadiums are much louder than NFL stadiums, too.

I used to produce all of the NFL coverage through DAZN in North America including the Super Bowl. Also did Boxing and Baseball, which I couldn’t for the life of me get into.

American Sports certainly gets the numbers, but in terms of atmosphere it’s completely different. It’s more aligned to an experience in the States, the atmosphere is generated through excitement and a social media culture of “I was there!” whereas sport in the UK - especially football - is very much based around tribalism and aggression. I do like the Tailgates, though.

As an American, I’m still somewhat shocked my English cousins cannot integrate crowds. We’ve never had to segregate based on fans support, home/away, etc.

Have they always been segregated there?

Not always, but it would cause absolute chaos if it wasn’t segregated. The segregation is also why we have something unusual to American sport - atmosphere.

I have been told that in light of the West Brom v Wolves match there will be a zero tolerance approach by the police and stewards to any Geordie infiltrators. Ironic really as we have had one as our CEO for the last six years.

Thank god - I’ve emailed for three separate games now complaining about away fans in the home end and corporate section, glad someone’s finally doing something about it.
