9 in 42. Unsure how many are starts or from the bench.

    Roversfan99 nails it. Confidence player.

    Thankyou.

So you are telling me that if Rhodes was available on Tuesday against Rotherham, he wouldnt be the first name on the team sheet?

    Talking out of your arse.

As good as King is, at the time that was a 40 goal strikeforce. Problem was the defence was leaky, and the central midfield was Lowe and Williamson.

And to answer "How many goals and apps since he left 21 months ago?" hes barely played but a similar amount to Samuel and Antonsson, 2 players youd start on Tuesday.

Rhodes wouldnt be in my team.

Samuel brings pace and strength Rhodes doesnt.

40 goals strikeforce that is on the bench in the championship whilst King is scoring goals in the Premier League. Rhodes hasnt. Gestede hasnt regular

Strange. You wouldn't want back a model professional who scored 80+ goals in 3 years for us yet you would want a player back who had 1 good game vs Stoke in almost the same period of time.

What King has done since is largely irrelevant as he seldom did it here. Either because he was 'injured' or couldn't be bothered.

Rhodes wanted out for 12 months before hand. A

    Hardly the model.pro is it?

What King Has done in Premier League is irrelevant? Really. Wonder why you say that?

    One game against 10 men.

The fact that you wouldn't want him back is laughable, he scored more than a goal every other game in the division above for us, and has only struggled since because hes not had regular game time. He proved even with little service for us that he would score goal after goal, but you'd prefer the blunt strikeforce we have now?

Gestede and Rhodes are both subs at that level, but both were scoring 20 a season for us, how could you possibly improve on that? KIng was unlucky but it would have made no sense to break them 2 up.

Make no sense? Really. We didnt get promotion with them in team. King is being link with Everton now and scoring PL goals for past 2 seasons. Whilst Gestede and Rhodes careers have gone backwards.

Rhodes thanks for memories but no thanks.

Yeah the FA Cup which we won 4-1 against Stoke but Gestede and King that day was great.

Legs were going? Have you added 10 years to him?

He wouldn't come back and we could never afford him, but he'd score more than the 3 we have now combined, as he did consistently here.

If you had taken Rhodes and his 20+ goals out of the team, we'd have been further away from promotion, not closer.

You dont know how King and Gestede partnership would have done. Look at the Stoke Cup game. Gestede and King ripped them apart.

Which striker is scoring goals in the Premier League whilst one is on the bench for a championship club?

I wouldnt want him back either.

  4. 5 minutes ago, JHRover said:

His legs were going? What makes you say that? He was 25 when we sold him so something wrong if he was losing his fitness at that age, especially for someone who always appeared professional and looked after himself.

He was so successful for us and Huddersfield because he was the main man and in the team every week. He had 20+ a year for 6 years running and none of it was down to his legs. He'd had 11 goals the season before we sold him.

At Middlesbrough and Wednesday he hasn't had the run in the team he had with us, as they have plenty of other options to pick from. That's why he isn't scoring.

Sorry but Rhodes will never reach the levels he did here. He will be abit part player for the rest of his career. Shame for the player cos he had a great attitude and very well here but I think King and Gestede would had been better partnership and might have got us promote. King has gone on to have the better career out of 3 of them.

Rhodes scored goals in some terrible teams during his time here, especially when he first came, and continued when we got some better players, he was the main man, the fans favourite, he played every week, his confidence was up and it got to the stage where we took for granted the fact that he was guaranteed to score on average a goal every other game.

He was right to seek a team chasing promotion, but since hes left hes been unable to get a regular run in the side for a manager who trusts him, he cant make an impact of the bench, hes very much a confidence player who needs to play regularly.

One thing is for sure, we havent come close to replacing him and if he came back hed be first name on the team sheet and go on to score 30 goals at this level.

Obviously theres not a cat in hells chance hed come back or we could afford him sadly.

We sold Rbodes at the right time. His legs were going. He is no longer the Rhodes we had here and I doubt he will reach those highs ever again.

    WOULDNT sign him again

Real rangers men? Caixinha is doing okay suggest you look at the Lisbon uni lecture he gave as he's one of the most qualified managers on football.

    Im happy with Pedro ATM

    happy for third place then.

people like Walter Smith, Ally McCoist, etc should be part of the club in some role

suggest you look at results this season and smells the coffee. never going to beat Celtic or win a league 1 under him

should have got McInnes or McLeish in

What do you sound like? Are you aware that you are a League One club supporter?

You need to get your head out of your arse. Wake up and smell the coffee.

talk down if you want but Scottish football is poor. simple as. Celtic will continue to win the title unless Rangers get a proper local owner in place and Rangers people running it and being the manager

We must have been watching different games.

The standard of football was ok and way above our L1 status but from about 20 mins in there was only going to be one winner.

    Overall Rangers were mediocre.

Rodgers somehow got himself the easiest job in British football.

there was only going to be one winner before the game even started.

Rangers have zero direction. should have appoint Derek McInnes when Warburton left.

  8. I like to see Hales at 5 tbh.

I see Warne and Mark Nicholls have suggest James Vince. seem to be that Ballance could be the batsman to bat at 5 in the Ashes. Not convince by him at all.

Westley does have a technically fault with the angle of his bat not coming down straight.

From what I’ve seen he’s a gritty, very committed player (10 a penny) with very limited technical ability as seen at the weekend where he was beyond awful. Don’t get me wrong he’s had some ok/good games but he’s been a mixed signing in my eyes. How many “Cult” heroes actually are good? You tend to think of your Mokoena’s and Kuqi’s when that term gets used as it is with Richie at the moment. The standards bar at Rovers is at an all time low.

Chaddy –  You spent all summer telling everyone how great Tony was, to get behind him and shouting me down for the slightest bit of negativity/critique surrounding the bloke let alone praising his recruitment which at the time I told you was Unimaginative and poor. It just so turns out that overall it appears to be unimaginative and poor whilst TM himself has been just as bad, I said 10 games and stand by that, how far of the top 2?

Now looking back at my posts who I suggested we ended up going for Dominic Samuel a couple of months later, he's now our top scorer with Mulgrew is he? Louis Moult, 1st/2nd leading SPL goalscorer, Ben Heneghan we bidded on deadline day? Nathael Julan, on his way to Stoke U-23 in January. Oh and Omar Bogle bagged a move to Cardiff’s bench. All attainable possibly bar Julan if we’d have bothered to act quicker and left the dross what has been brought in alone. It was always about the bigger picture and planning for the next season just as much, instead we got anyone who was free and willing, it stinks to high heaven.

Wigan – Surprise you derided me over these insisting they wouldn’t be where they are now and didn’t have the quality. Looks like they’ll win the game in hand and fly up into 2nd.  :P My bet looking good for them to win the league ;)

I seen most games this season and I think Smallwood has been very good and the type of midfield we need for a couple of season.

I commented on the recruitment and it was good enough for automatic promotion this season. that's the target for this season over 46 games. You achieve nothing after 10 games for being in the top 2. only matters after a full season.

your Samuel suggestion was spot on and very good. Don't know Heneghan or Julan or Moult as I said at the time. don't watch Scottish football at all. don't even watch the Celtic and Rangers game cos it very poor quality.

on Wigan, lets see where they finish at the end of season before we start jumping through hoops. clearly Wigan and Us have the best squads in this league.

Your not going to score every game but Travis and Doyle need to be able to step in with a few goals other than just keep on crossing it for them to be first team material.

full backs score a couple of goals per season at the very best in the PL, like Kyle Walker or Tripper, Valencia or left back like Ben Davies, Blind or Mendy. so I suggest you stop moaning about another non story.

Travis and Doyle put in enough crosses into the box last night to score at least 5 goals, Nuttall were quiet, JRC went quiet after his goal, Mols had chances, Platt had 2 good chances.

  11. Rovers were the attacking side all game and we started well but after we went 1 nil up we didnt keep the ball well enough and not convert our chances. We had enough in the game

Boro were a defensive side and started 4-4-2 and after 10 mins went 4-1-4-1 and play on the counter. 4 shots 3 goals.

Nuttall was quiet and the worst game ive seen him play. Rankin-Costello went quiet after his goal. Tomlinson and Hardcastle had ok games were good and poor points.

Travis and Doyle were very good and got forward every opportunity and put in some good crosses in.

Grayson kick out was a sending off and stupid to do but you can see why he did.

The ref was rubbish and no idea of what he was doing. Boro number 5 was in the ref ear at every opportunity to put pressure on him and he cracked

I think the point was Chaddy, was that there was no need to ask him. Just leaving it out would probably have been a better idea.

I like and respect Dunnfc views even when we disagree. No angry or nasty from either side

Anyway, ill hold my hands up and say ive been very impressed with Smallwood which on the face of it was an underwhelming signing. By the same token ive been very disappointed with Whittingham who came here with a good reputation - football is a funny old game!

    Agree on Whittingham totally

  13. 51 minutes ago, JacknOry said:

TBF the ONE solidarity goal he did score for us - was a belter.

On a side note - look at the two usual point scorers coming out in force. I've spoken to you about your point-scoring in the past Chaddy - seems you still cannot help yourself.

Two Point scorers? Who the other?

I give my opinion on the player. Thats all. Plus ask Dunnfc whether his opinion has change? Simple question

Could you see Lowe scoring a goal like the opener yesterday ? He' d get a nose bleed going so far up the pitch.

    Exactly.

Smallwood is looking a very good signing at the minute. And to think certain people when he signed moaned like hell without even seeing him play

The only way to find out is by playing him.  Platt, Grayson and Charley Doyle were excellent tonight against an experienced opposition.  I can understand Mowbray wanting Downing for his experience of League One football but young Platt should be on the bench at the very least.  We have a crop of really good youngsters at the moment and my fear is that we will lose them if we don't give them an extended chance of first team football.

Ive only seen him twice. Been impress by times.

I would imagine Platt will get chance shortly if Lenihan and Mulgrew are injured. Plus Wharton seem to be injured alot recently
