For me it's far too soon to have consider Mowbray out. We are only two games into the season. Should give it closer to Christmas to before judging. Ultimately the manager is judged on results, which Mowbray is very aware of. So what are the facts?: - We finished 18/19 with 16 wins, 12 draws and 18 losses. Not great, not bad for first season back in Championship. There was a very poor run from Feb to April, but we ended the season with 4 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss. - This year should show improvement in results, but you cannot judge after two games in a 46 game season. At that rate Daniel Franke would have been sacked last season.

90% of Fulhams possesion in their own half, keeper having half of that. Don't understand where the 6 goal attempt are coming from, they only had one other chance as I can recall.
-
Been dangerous on multiple times. Johnson with a couple of good opportunities. Armstrong enjoying a lot of space on the right side, with final ball not quite there. Fulham had very little except for a Johnson giveaway that Knockhart fired just wide.

Really good performance, unlucky to be behind. I really like that the look of the team. Very mobile and balanced. Williams and Tosin has been great, quite incredible given Williams have no preseason and Tosin just arrived. Honourable mention to Bennett who has stifled Cavalliero and kept possesion.

Watching Norwich taking a hammering against Liverpool. They have created some good chances but are totally falling at the back. Hanley looks shellshocked, and their promising full back just can't cope defensively with Liverpool's movement.

Big fan of Reed, better than what we have, but not our biggest concern. Davenport will hopefully get fit and is quite similar as a player. Cunningham should be a major upgrade on our left side which was probably our weakest last season. Tosin should be an upgrade and defensively we should have improved from last year when all are fit. However, depth is major worry. Allowing Mulgrew to leave without a replacement leaves a big question mark.

Very interesting interview with Mowbray where he answers about defenders and Magloire not being ready. https://www.lancs.live/sport/football/transfer-news/tony-mowbrays-message-supporters-everything-16720353.amp?__twitter_impression=true

He has though. When Lenihan was injured in League One, he was on several occasions complaining that we had to play our defensive line lower because Mulgrew and Ward "wasn't the most mobile players".

From press conference today. Seems like we are trying at least. Mowbray : - We will try to improve our squad if we can, we are hoping to add a few just to help - We have a few irons in the fire and let’s see if they come to fruition - It is hectic, hopefully there will be action this afternoon. We have training this morning, it is not too much disruption

28 year old left back. Would be a major upgrade on Bell. Cardiff bought last season for 4 million pounds from Preston: "Cunningham really became a star at North End, impressing in three seasons with the club. A bargain signing from Bristol City in 2015, Cunningham became Mr Consistency at Deepdale, and deserved his Premier League move last summer."

Venkys London Ltd accounts

What amount to you reckon is enough to guarantee promotion? A few millions won't mean much. Given our squad you would probably need at least between 50-100 mill in transfers and wages just to have a chance. It's like russian roulette. Venky are already losing 20 million a year for a mid-table squad with mid-table wages. -
I agree. Probably my favorite Rovers of my time. Ripped it up in the PL from first game as 18 year old, top player in World Cup and CL as well. There was a good batch then with Beattie, Dunn, Damien Johnson, Tiny Taylor and Duff.

I know top European clubs like Real Madrid are big on doing squats to make players more explosive. Wharton could certainly bulk up a bit to compete better. Andy Todd as somebody mentioned a good example of height isn't everything

He is not very poor. Been one of the best keeper in Championship for years. Didn't reach his best last season but was player of the year for Ipswich 3 season in a row before that. Ipswich has turned down bids of 2-3 mill before last season. Would be a decent alternative to Walton. Problem is I can't see him coming as number 2.

@TBTF posted earlier that he had heard we were looking to sign him after this week's Euro League matches. At least seem like the type we need, not confirmed by the "official sources" so wait and see rumour. Fits the profile and market we should be looking at.

Looks like a proper defender. Can head and likes a tackle

True, Championship is now under same rules as PL from this window. All incoming transfers and loan must be completed by the 8th. Outgoing loans to League 1/2 can happen untill 31th, which means Mowbray might hold on to most youngsters to late August.

Latest quote from Tony when asked Who will be staying: "Buckley definetly won't be going on loan" Very positive, think he is close and will see plenty of game time.

I realize I'm in the minority but I think Bennett is a decent right back. Not great, but can run all day, tackle and can put in a cross. Nyambe is a fine athlete who is good one on one defensively, but can't put in a cross to save his life. Still based on last season, our left was the major pain point. Williams had a horrible spell when everyone who just run past him on the outside and we conceded a lot from that side. Bell was a little better, but looks like he has an off switch sometimes where his mind is somewhere else. Still I think the whole board agrees that we are weakest central. Mulgrew is not a great defender, he backs off almost into his keeper every time and struggles with pace every time. If Lenihan is injured we are so thin and Mowbray himself said so this week. I'm a firm Mowbray supporter, but dissapointed that he has tracked back from the clear statement that defenders are coming. Still time to get a couple in, but I'm very confident that we will see Bennett, Lenihan, Mulgrew and Bell as the back four vs Charlton.
-
Not that suprised I think. When you are a mid-table team offering mid-table wages, it's hard to attract better players. Probably have to cast a wide net and find out that some are on 3 times the wages we can afford as Mowbray was quoted on. Finding gems and the few players willing to sacrifice wage to play football like Gallagher is the key. Probably the same as 15 other clubs in the Championship. When the club has 187%(or something like that) wage to turnover ratio it's hard to see how we can raise the wage level further.

He has actually played rightback for the U18 before moved forward ? I think his style is similar to Iniesta in the way he passes and goes past People. Similar slight build as well

Mowbray was referring to last season. Rothwell did mature and establish himself as a regular towards the end. No evidence that he won't be a starter. The old guard was starting against Rangers because they had the least minutes. Pretty sure Rothwell will start at left wing vs Charlton.
