One of the reason the U23 finish high is that The top PL clubs are loaning their best players, so their U23 is watered Out a bit. Players like Mason Mount, Harry Wilson etc. However shouldn't takeaway that we have a great U23 with Just as good talent as the PL

Think he more or less is. Manchester Evening News considers it a sure thing.

Pep Guardiola on our new defender "He is fast, strong in the air, and has the quality to look forward behind the line for the next pass. He definitely has a future in the first team. He is a nice guy, his mind is open, he listens, he trains every day like it's the last training of his life and I like to work with these kinds of players a lot. “Against true, tough teams – Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich (in pre-season) – he played very well.”

They had a really rough first part of the season getting used to the new level and shipped a lot of goals. Magloire got injured in the early part of the season as well. After Christimas they were basicly untouchable and won almost everything against Man C, Liverpool, West Ham, Chelsea etc. It's also worth mentioning that Rovers is one of two Championship sides in the top U23 division. Think Derby is the other one. The mighty Man Utd got relegated before this season, and didn't even manage to get promoted again. However there is a very big difference on the type of football being played there vs Championship. It's possesion based, played to foot and mirrors the top PL sides approach. There is no physical battle in the air, which makes the transition for a centre back like Magloire a lot harder than for the offensive players. He is having an easy time in the U23 because he is stronger and quicker than every striker there, including Rhian Brewster which he had in his pocket. Championship is a different animal in that respect. A lot of big bruisers with strength and know how.

Probably not close enough to make the match day squad. Bennett and Nyambe in front of him as right back. Attacking midfielder by trade, but very football intelligent and can play a number of positions. Filled in as wing back for U23 last season and did very well.
-
Could it be this guy he's thinking of? West Ham winger with 17 games last season. We are mentioned to have expressed an interest. https://readwestham.com/2019/07/21/championship-trio-line-up-diangana-swoop/

Agreed. Was a stop-gap option in League One. If they are bringing in 2 keeper, he will surely be let go. Fischer seems decent enough for third keeper.
-
The fact is that loan players can't be nominated on team of the season, which makes it a bit strange. Both Walton and Henderson was on loan and obvious candidates.
-
You mean the "I had no defence, defenders are coming" comment. I liked that, but that was bit over the top, and pretty uncommon for Mowbray. He has always been "creating more competition" kind of guy like today. A bit more tactical and political. Remains to be seen, we need depth and strength so good to hear they are digging up bodies

3-1 is a pretty decent result for what effectively was a U23 team.

When I've seen him for the U23 he plays off the striker. Collects the ball and run at the defence. Has pace and goes by people, a bit of swagger and arrogance which I like. Can improve his decision making as he is a bit greedy and could be better at releasing the ball to other than going for goal himself. Can be an impact player, but I think it's more likely to see him go on loan and play regularly this season. Too good for U23 now, as is Buckley

Ratings from today's game. All the youngsters did well, Buckley and Butterworth best. https://www.lancs.live/sport/football/football-news/blackburn-rovers-player-ratings-win-16603472

Thanks, seems like I'm limited to season pass only. Probably because I'm in Norway or something. Enjoy

Do you have a link to the monthly package? I only get full season

Regarding Gallagher being expensive at 5, I see Zohore going for 8!. Similar stats which makes the Gallagher fee look better

Of course. I still think Raya is a great keeper who would excel in a less physical league, even in the Premier League. Since our defence is less than commanding I would like to see a big unit brought in who will shout and claim the ball.
-
Hamstring I think, but was fit for second half of season.
-
Bradley Johnson is also very good in the air. According to the Derby supporters he never loses a challenge in the air. Will help in both boxes in that respect.
-
You are less reliant on making reflex saves if you can claim the cross before it drops to an attacker. When I played as a centre back, I'd always prefer to have keeper who talked and dominated the area, to the one with better reflexes who was glued to the line.

Yeah sure, I was just providing context why there was little game time. I'm worrying less when I know that he wasn't sent on loan last season because Hughes thought he had a chance to make an impact in PL. Injuries prevented that under Hughes, and when he was fit he was considered good enough for a few appearances under the new boss.
-
He was injured for the first half of the season. Hughes clearly rated him before he got the sack. Got some very brief sub appearances under their new manager in PL. “He (Gallagher) is still injured. He isn’t an option and will be a number of weeks yet,” Hughes said. “It’s a shame because he is very close and this year I was hoping to give him a little bit of game time in the League Cup, but injuries stopped us having that option. “Sam has got a lot of attributes that would help us. He is a big guy, young, talented and a lot of power and pace. “It’s a shame he is unavailable.” https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/17243898.southampton-striker-sam-gallagher-is-still-injured/

Good point. A proper club would've had s European scouting in place for the manager to use. It should be part of the club strategy and survive changing managers. Also proves the major task Mowbray have in rebuilding this club. At least we're not buying players by asking Facebook for help anymore. You just hope that the structure that is being put in will live after Mowbray is gone.

He's a monster. Scored two header against us. People are Just bouncing of him. Can play a bit as well
-
Of course. We all see the world through our tinted glasses, wouldn't be any messageboards if the world looked the same to everybody

Not official yet, but looking very likely that a deal is in place. Sam Wallace wouldn't stick his neck out unless the deal was more or less done. Alan Myers thinks it will be announced on Monday. https://twitter.com/SamWallaceTel
