Burnley have spent the tenth most of any club in the World this summer.

And get this, Bournemouth are 8th.

Three Al's are in the top five.

Sorry Phil but I haven’t been following the Dingles transfer dealings this summer, how much has their net spend been? Cheers.

    Absolutely made up today.

Hyam was unreal, so composed, masterclass in defending. Carter along side is a top class talent aswell.

Travis was excellent, linked play, pressed, a proper captain's performance.

Tronstadt was ok, looks like he needs to get up to speed a bit but will do a thankless job in midfield by the looks of it. For a first performance I thought he was fine but can see him growing in confidence and showing us more.

Pickering had a good game I thought, as did JRC, both solid.

Dolan and Markanday did fine, worked hard and put the yards in. Can see more to come from Markanday and Dolan's work ethic was great as usual, would like him to get more shots off. Thought he quietly had a good game today.

Leanord, big ask for him but got a goal, could of had a hat trick. Movement was clever, certainly didn't look out of his depth and battled well. I can certainly see the Jordan Rhodes comparisons. Shame he didn't take those chances because I think the confidence everyone would have in him (and his own) would have been astronomic.

Sammy was was Sammy, worth every penny of his wage every week. As much as folk might get teary eyed about Dack, there's absolutely no chance he would cover the ground this fella does.

Little shout out to Brittain when he came on, perhaps it was because he was right in front of me but he was top class. Mugged off Soriento with a dummy and turned defence into attack brilliantly with a great cross field pass. The lad is WAY too good to be sat on the bench, they need to find a solution to that.

The best way to describe us is a well drilled bunch of grafters. There's not much in the way of individual brilliance but I'm absolutely fine with that if we can keep doing the basics as well as we do. I see far too many teams with the odd individually brilliant player that aren't drilled and don't have any real methods. Our method is risky but it pays off from sheer crisp passing and work ethic, what more can you ask for?

Be nice to see that marquee signing to come in, that has a bit of individual brilliance to add to the graft we have, just to give us a little something. I think this is a real statement from the manager to those in charge of the finances, to say "back me, we can smash this league".

After a lot of talk over finances, today was a real display that higher wages doesn't guarantee you anything in the championship. Look at Swift sat on their bench on an absolute fortune, looked bang average when he came on, madness.

Very proud of of that performance on so many levels. It was a performance deserving of 3 points that lifts the spirit of everyone and visual representation of what this club is built on...

    ARTE ET LABORE!!!!

The reason a lot of people are upset ,is the fact that he hasn't been given the chance to complete a full 90 minutes. As our outstanding midfielder he should have been.

Reading between the lines, I think JDT feels he doesn’t do enough defending and closing down when we don’t have the ball.

  4. Morton didn’t play today and I don’t think it’s a coincidence that we were difficult to break down today, against an in your face dirty side like Sheffield utd. He’s sadly too light weight and does not put the effort in or put  his body on the line like Travis and Buckley did today. Apart from the Leicester game where he could stroll around, our upturn has come since he’s been dropped.

I think there are some good clues in the agreed timeline as to the underlying problems:

First document submitted at 20:28 - it probably never occurred to Broughton that a professional football club couldn’t finish submitting the rest of the paperwork in 2.5hrs.

The EFL intervention lasted only 27 minutes until 21:48. Nothing was then submitted for 1hr and 6mins at 22:54, turning a tight but manageable schedule into a last minute panic. This delay was the catalyst for disaster.

Because of this delay, other factors come into play: e.g. the player being at Brockhall not Ewood. While it was Broughton who took him there, he did so at a time when all looked in hand. Whatever was the delay in that 1hr 6mins, Sylvester should’ve given Broughton a heads up this was going to go to the wire so get the player to Ewood.

23:03 Sylvester resubmits form H4 in error. This to me implies he’s in a panic, making basic mistakes and, from this point, the transfer is doomed. Factor in there’s another last minute transfer going on, and events showed we clearly had neither the capacity nor capability to do two last-minuters at once. That could be because of some of, or all of, Sylvester not up to the job, hollowing out of the office admin team, poor / non-existent communication between Sylvester and Broughton, absence of their boss.

Given all the above, it is beyond belief that the one man accountable for all parts of the organization functioning smoothly on the most crucial evening of the season chose to eff off to a footy match 100 miles away.

For me Sylvestor and Waggot should go. They have the experience of these last minute deals and screwed up due to lack of organisation and coordination. Amateur hour. Broughton got the player to agree to join us and agreed the potential player contract and sorted the medical. The paperwork was left to the “professionals to sort out”!! It’s not his fault that we have a useless admin team.
From such a mega deal of a “game changer” player Waggot should have been on hand to make sure everything went smoothly. He should have been around for any eventuality. Very, very poor leadership.
