  1. Let’s take a moment to acknowledge  the dire plight of two neighbors due to awful ownership  that could put put them out of business imminently.

Let’s recognize that for all the false starts and bad decisions more from naivety that anything else, our owners have stayed the course and given our manager money to spend.

We can dream of 1995 but time is now and I am happy that we are building something here not having it destroyed in front of our very eyes with lifelong fans chained to the railings outside.

Mowbray seems to see them both as wide right forwards though so not sure how it would work personally not sure they'd gel but there's only one way to find out.

There is no time for bedding in these days. Lose two games and back to tried and tested. Eventually Graham will not be an option. That’s when we shall see whether the investments are just that.

Sam Gallagher would be a blessing in the old style 442 with a really good striker alongside him i said before he is a bit of a Mike Newell in terms of being mobile and grafting for a big lad.   Not sure it would work with Graham but might have with Rhodes although can't see it happening as not many play that way anymore but he really should be moved across when Graham goes off.

Lessons should've been learned from that last season but what we seem to have again is stubborn manager flogging something until it actually works once for he finally realises what everyone else sees and knocks it on the head. Last season his persistence with putting Dack up top and sticking BB on wide proved costly a time or two and cost points and i don't recall it actually working once, so lets hope it isn't Arma moved up top every game Graham goes off now instead lets have a little bit more horses for courses to see games out.

Maybe that’s the long term strategy with Brereton

  4. Good options up front. More mobile options in defence. Experienced midfield general with good talent around him.

We don’t know what we don’t know. We didn’t sell Sessignon so Fulham had more money for Reed.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Mulgrew and Mowbray had a Lampard and Luiz moment and Mowbray cut his losses on a big wage earner.

Time for the youngsters to shine.

Blimey. I feel a bit sick if this Reed thing is true. Almost feels like losing a girlfriend and it being mandatory to watch her having great fun shagging her new fella twice a week! I have been utterly convinced all window he was going to be a last minute addition.

Pure Shakespeare. The metaphor doth do you proud my liege.

  6. Not pretty. First of the season.  Home defeat 2 goals conceded. Silver lining? Better to see the deficiencies now rather than 10 games in. Problem is when  Bristol City defender gets sold for 20 million you are not going to get defenders on the cheap now. Oh and everyone is looking for defenders

Mowbray is building a team for the future. His biggest problem. When does he push the button?

I know top European clubs like Real Madrid are big on doing squats to make players more explosive.

Wharton could certainly bulk up a bit to compete better. Andy Todd as somebody mentioned a good example of height isn't everything

Ah but he did have  a good rabbit punch to compensate.

I dunno, I just found this article:

With Lambert's arrival, Blackburn Rovers have only conceded 15 goals this season, which is notable, given the fact that most of the bottom-half teams have allowed 20 or 30 apiece. In other words, Lambert is inheriting a team that is decent defensively.

I think lambert was a "get us promoted" manager, not a "save us from relegation" manager. We already had 17 points from 16 games and Charlton went down in 22nd on 40 points. I think we would have been just fine. Lambert only got 38 points from 30 games.

    Plus, Lambert signed Elliott Ward.

A leopard doesn’t change spots. Let’s see how he does this season with the team he relegated. We assumed that we would be promoted. So did Sunderland. I think we underestimate how tough it is/was.

At this rate of page filling we will be up to 333 without any major transfer news

So let’s go totally off topic and watch Graham Gooch magic innings of 333 while we wait for some news.

All very interesting and worthy of a debate, but maybe the Mods need to be redirecting this stuff into a Tony Mowbray 'any good or not' thread ?

    - I think the one being hijacked is supposed to be about the summer transfer window.......

  10. Apologies if I am repeating old stuff but I did go back a few pages to check. If we can get 18. Million for Dack soon I would take it. He is done a great job for us but like the stock market and houses sell high and buy low. We then have a real chance to buy three players who could make a difference in key positions.

My fear is that if we don’t let him go he will get all unnecessary which will affect his form. One mans opinion. https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/they-have-to-let-him-go-blackburn-face-decision-over-in-demand-star-opinion/
