I am sure it is a minimal amount to tell potential suitors he has a contract. Let him rehabilitate and then move on. Way more difficult to do that without a club. It is what we would hope our employers would do to maintain their reputation and attract people.

Generally I follow the 'don't go back principle' but feel that applies less to defenders.
Unless a gem has been discovered in Mowbray's European adventures I do not expect us to sign a CB who is better than Hanley so if he is available we should at least try.
There is the 'red mist' issue with him but I like passion in a player.
(Ooops, just remembered about not posting in this thread, bloody temptation got the better of me)
I think that quote applies more to girlfriends or boyfriends rather than centre backs ??.
We did go back with Henry which was a good move. ?

If everyone in the championship is saying goodbye to ten of their squad it will be a right old car boot sale this Summer.

Solid mid table. Some big clubs didn’t make it to the play offs having spent way more than we have. Plenty to look forward to. It’s the hope that brings you back. Off to feed the roses.
Have a good Summer everyone.

Shocking first 20 minutes and we certainly rode our luck. But we ended up on the pitch with players young and old prepared to chase every.ball rather than trot about.
If Leutwiler is leaving, he has a terrific show reel to give to prospective clubs. He deserves the last game of the season.

4 wins in 4, first goal for Brereton, blooded two more youngsters at home. Anyone happy? I am.

I get the sentiment but we’ve gained nothing today.
We already know that Dack, Rothwell and Travis on the pitch at the sane time is what is needed.
We’ve learned nothing about Leutweiler. He already needed to be replaced and still does.
Brereton got 5 minutes. Not enough time for him or Rovers to gain anything but I guess it counts as an appearance.
We’ve learned nothing about whether any other youngsters - from a special group no less - can step up.
Always nice to win but it’s too little too late. We didn’t run out of games, we ran out of ambition. On 1st Feb.
We gained three away points and some of the lessons you mentioned. I understand your logic and frustration but if this is a project it is more than one season. Only Norwich look like a premier league team in waiting.
It would have been exciting to get into the play offs but these days you need to create the foundation of a premier league team in the Championship. We have not done that.
We would be in big trouble if we got there and started planning. Cardiff, Fulham and Huddersfield are all on their way back down and Fulham at least, spent money.
I can live with consolidation as long as we choose well in the Summer.

Part of me doesn’t want to change the team - 3 points behind Sheff W and I’ve got a ton riding on us finishing above them!
Me too, strangely enough.

According to my maths that’s 9 points in three games, two away from home. Final push for promotion. Oh we’ve run out of games.
Still, nice way to consolidate with our other promotion partners from last year fighting for their lives. Very solid achievement.

Maybe he will be big bold Tony and start with Brereton. And maybe he will score a hat trick and silence the boo boys on both sides.

“A team packed with legends such as Elliott Bennett”. I love the dark and sardonic cloud that is football humour.

Very good match report from Derby paper’s lead writer.

What a performance, well done to all, best of the season.
The whole display was full of energy, full of drive and full of quality too. Rothwell was absolutely terrific, but frustrated by his 2 misses but his take and finish for his goal was absolutely top drawer and he was superb all night.
The difference was night and day between Dack, Travis and Reed v Evans, Smallwood and Bennett. Today we had more energy, tenacity and far more in terms of technical ability and enterprise. Reed was outstanding, Dack back close to his best and Travis bar one shocking pass was superb too. I still think Conway should not be given a new deal but he was terrific too and as a front 6 they pinned Derby back to make our back 5 very easy.
Lenihan was colossal at the back and better on the ball. Raya had one dodgy moment but he barely did anything in general such was our display. Williams fine, full backs our weakest area with Bell for me our lowest scoring player and even then he wasnt bad.
Wow. Praise for Raya, Bennett,Bell, Conway. Glad the fans who attended, saw such a great game. With all of the concerns before the game, and the euphoria afterwards, it feels like the footballing equivalent of striking lucky on a Saturday night.

Stoke away was a good day.
We could do with some cheer to stave off the 'going nowhere' mediocrity that we find ourselves in.
Rovers 3 2 Stoke
Ipswich were a play off chasing club not so long back. They would pray for such going nowhere. Does anyone truly believe that pushing for a play off place and getting promotion would have been a good thing?
I am not saying that I am happy with this run of results or even some of the line ups. I am happy with consolidating and blooding some youngsters before season end.
Dack will go and we will rebuild. And hopefully we will go back to our usual colors.

Much will depend on where he spends it, if he gets it. 2 terrific centre-backs or 1 Brereton?
He has money in the bank already by not spending January. Not sure Bauer is the answer at Centre back. We need someone who has been around the block in the championship at least.

And to think we were runners up to Wigan last term. We kicked on. They did not.

Strange that Nyambe had been left out in the cold for such a long period. Glad he is back in the groove.

Great win after predictions of a 4-1 defeat on here.
Anyone else superstitious on here? I lost a Rovers cotton bracelet that my neighbor’s kid made for me. Six weeks ago. She made a new one for me. Sunday.

Players can only be recalled from loans if they are on season long loans and it's during a transfer window. Downing wouldn't come back anyway.
Thanks for clarifying.

Hopefully Mowbray will recall Downing and as always when asked to step in, he will do a sterling job. And everyone will wonder why he was allowed to be loaned out in the first place.

We have short memories. We were cackling ourselves with delight when Newcastle gave us money for him.
