January Transfer Window.

Sorry Chaddy, you can spin this whichever you want. Fact of the matter is this, the board and owners are incompetent, and they are very much to blame for this. This is now the 2nd season, where we have a chance of achieving the playoffs, whether its realistic or not, is besides the point. The club is in position, and with that, you find ways to cement that place, before other clubs in a similar position jumps ahead of us.. This squad is weak, this club isnt a top 6 club as things stand, so what do you do about it? You go out there, and find some players that will give you a chance, instead of just rolling over, and giving up. We as Rovers fans have become so use to mediocrity, that its no wonder the club is happy to do as they please on and off the pitch, because our expectations are low. As a football player myself for years and years, as a youngster right through to senior football, albeit at an amateur level, we never allowed our weakness to show against anybody, because we knew that would be our downfall. We competed hard, and at the end of the day, we left happy. I know this is a long post, but i really dont care if we are a small town club. But im pretty sure Uncle Jack never had this mentality, that we are just a small town club, making up numbers.. John Williams didn't sit back as chairman, and allowed his managers to go and compete with mediorce players. Mark Hughes didnt have the mentality that a bigger club would just come and roll us over, no, his players went out there and competed and fought for the shirt. What im saying here is this, yes we are no longer a PL club, but ill be damned if i have to watch some of these fairies play football, who cant make simple passes, who cannot win a header, or bleed for the club. The ambition of the club should always be PL football, if not, then sell the club and go home.. -

All this talk about suicide football at the back, imo is just a bit silly. The players are professionals, who shouldn't be uncomfortable playing a passing game at the back, and doing so with ease. Plenty of the errors at the back, are something you would see at school boy level, where players struggle with the basics. A passing game shouldn't be difficult, when the passes are simple and straight forward, not passes where the player wants to be fancy in possession. I'm amazed at how uncomfortable our players are in possession, and this is not even playing out from the back. These are players in midfield, with heavy touches, who cant pass a ball a few yards, who get nervous when another player closes them down. JDT has plenty of work to do, to separate the men from the boys, in the next 12 months, because some of these players are not championship quality, let alone PL. Cmon guys, the game of football should be simple most of the time. Get the ball, look up, pass the ball, and move. Imo thats the sort of game JDT wants to play, so we need to find him the players that can do that, otherwise, we might as well bring back Sam Allardyce, and play that kick up a ball into sky and run after it game -

in all honesty, their plan has always been to loan players, with the odd cash signing here and there. Mrs Venky said that when they bought the club, so all this war chests and money to spend are false and wide of the mark -

Venkys and the board need to wake up a bit here imo. Its cool to have a war chest, but the time to strike the enemy is right now, so release the funds, and bring those quality players in. We were in this very position under Mowbray, a chance to strike, cement a top 6 place, and they got cold feet, and Bournmouth and Forest said thank you very much, we'll have some of that. Give it a go, and worry about whether it didnt work at the end of the season. We can re assess, as long as this window is done well, but also still mindful of FFP. We have to do better in terms of quality, because it says plenty about our scouting system, when we bring in players, and they are no where near the standard expected of them or this league -

If i was Van Hecke, i would think very long about signing a new deal at Brighton. The guy is too good to be riding a bench, even if its for a PL team. He can do better -

Did he have a say in the Mola or Hirst signings? When you hear him talk, he often refers to Greg, so its possible that he will work with what is given to him. He did rock up and inherit most of what Mowbray had, a squad that couldnt make 1 playoff in 5 years.. -

Iceman replied to Upside Down's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Thats not exactly what i meant. Im not expecting us to spend plenty. But what im getting at, is that we are in with a chance, so if there are players that JDT feels can take us home and secure our place, then i hope that he gets the support. We had a chance with Mowbray, and Venky's wasted that chance to cement a playoff spot. -

You can be good enough, doesnt mean the personel you inherit, is good enough to get you the results. Ill bet that if Pep or Mourinho had to coach Sam Gallagher, Mola, Hirst etc, that they would probably question themselves, as to whether they really are a good manager. This idea that a great manager, would automatically just rock up, and instantly turn a poor squad into winners overnight is a bit silly. Sometimes maybe, but in most cases it takes time and patience.. -

Was it Bournmouth last season, that went crazy in the January transfer window, which ultimately took them up?
