Whoah there. You were starting to smell a rat on deadline day! We've still not got anyone over the line with an agreed fee. Pessimistic until proven wrong. Which I am sure pessimists everywhere will be only too glad to be. Must say that £8 million is too much. If it exists, I'd rather we spread it out a bit.
-
At least we seem to have got through 48 hours without a Maddison link.
-
Perhaps the Forest lad is the main choice due to wages? Can't imagine he's on a huge contract at Forest. Presumably he would get a step up in salary but not be higher than Armstrong/Dack. Whereas Gallagher or more established players at that fee would be wanting bigger wages.
-
If he gets a fee for either, then the guy is a magician.
-
Ah Think most of us are blocked ?
-
Link?

That would almost make sense and give a formidable forward line going forward. Mowbray clearly does not fancy any traditional wingers. Gallagher, Brereton and Armstrong have all played out wide. They would be completely interchangeable during a game - each one could move centrally. Nightmare to play against for a CB. *Would definitely be a show my arse moment if we spent circa £10mil on 2 players though.
-
The difference is we would happily get shut of Gladwin. Forest aren't in that position with Brereton.
-
I get how they can be structured. I can't imagine that Forest will structure it in any way that isn't beneficial to them.

Can't imagine we will not overpay. Selling club has all the power in this situation. Unless the player desperately wants out (like Robbie Savage). If we buy outright, then we have to meet their valuation - which they are under no obligation to drop as we are the team short on bodies. If we loan with a view, there will be a loan fee plus an agreed fee, which I think will be very hard to settle on - for both parties. It may be easier dealing with Prem teams in this situation - but I think the chance to agree a fee (that favours us) with Forest - went when the window closed.
-
It will just cost us more money now. Loan fee plus transfer fee. Haggling all summer didn't really work out very well. Seems it's a seller's market at the moment. There aren't (certainly in the top 2 divisions) teams that are desperate for cash as most have benefactors or premier league funding these days. Bargains in this country will be from lower leagues only (and Newcastle ?).

I don't think anyone will point any fingers at TM if we don't get players in. One would have to assume that Mr Waggott is the negotiator of these deals. Buck stops with him if players aren't recruited. Indeed, one could point out that he has been the one mainly spouting off about how good our transfers will be.
-
It appears not!
-
If we'd signed him on dead line day and he broke his leg the next day in training, he would still be our player. Agreed price is exactly the same. As soon as the 'loan' element starts he is effectively our player and we are responsible. We just pay more in 6 months. Edit: Oops should have scrolled down. Answered by Jacko

Taken from Rovers Twitter: More from the manager: “We’re still working hard on bringing players in and I’m hopeful. We’ll try to get the best deals for the players who can help our club. We’ll try to get the work done and be stronger by the time the window shuts.” #Rovers The 3 moving, can't be moving very fast!

Transfer/Loan thread summary to date: 'Piss and wind' 2 weeks to go.
-
Not really - he'll still be on loan!
-
I read about him in Revelations.
-
Makes a big difference when the player you want actively wants to sign for you.
-
I find it a little unusual as well Rev. Keep reading that he was linked to Liverpool and Man U 'not so long ago'. If he is the real deal, it is very surprising he hasn't been hoovered up by one of the 'big' clubs - never mind not being good enough to command a starting place at Forest!
-
More likely that they will want a high sell on clause!
-
Sharpe indicating won't be a loan to buy as we won't want to check committ to the fee Forest want. Don't see the point in that case. We need to develop a Graham replacement - not do Forest a favour

Yup. Good to see the team attacking but you can't let a champ team have 18 shots. -

Great result but if we are being picky..and I'm sure TM will, we've let Carlisle have 18 shots - more than we've had. Midfield balance isn't right on that. -

Chapman shoulder injury or summat.
