  1. Don't know much about Hirst. Not the most inspiring sounding signing. However, these taller players don't tend to peak until mid 20s onwards, when they've got the physique and a bit more know how. Hopefully he's a good crosser of the ball🤦🏻‍♂️ Had a look on the Pompey forum - stick with this - they were disgruntled that Ipswich might be in for him. Someone on the Ipswich board said that Rovers were in for him and that was Hirst's preferred choice. Ipswich would be his second if it fell through. That was back in the middle of July! Another one that we've had planned for a while or revisited it would seem.
  2. So JDT said 3 more. Hirst seems to be one. Styles still a possibility. The third remains an international man of mystery.
  3. Rondon being let go by Everton. Clearing space for Diaz? Unlikely but would he be a decent signing at 32?
  4. Good effort that man. Just googled it and he played in the 4-3 against Reading. Played left back!!!
  5. Maybe Carter has recommended him. They will have played together last year 🤷🏻‍♂️
  6. Pretty sure there's a stat that we've never won a league game when JRC has started.
  7. Lot of huff around Brereton-Diaz but if nowt happens tomorrow, I reckon he stays. Nobody is going to stump up £15mil.
  8. Depends if we'd 'agreed' a deal and were just waiting for the injuries. If we hadn't, fair enough. If it was in the balance that he might go elsewhere, the deal should have been sacked off weeks ago.
  9. Odd one that. The fact we allegedly had a 'deal in place' and were waiting on Liverpool injuries clearing up. Only for the minute they clear up, for him to head straight off to Germany. Either Liverpool have been a bit naughty there..or we've had first refusal and said no...or it was all bollocks and we were never in for him 🤷🏻‍♂️
  10. Anyone know what allocation we have for this?
  11. You would think that with a lot of teams using wing backs high up, that a traditional winger would have a field day with all that space and find himself up against a 6ft 4 CB trying to cover. I'd play genuine wingers all day long. I'd play them in the 4-2-3-1 role as well. Proper number 9 up top, Dack behind. Two quick wingers either flank. Playing on their strongest foot. Exciting to watch IMO.
  12. I'd argue that a fit Ayala tops that list. Can't grumble that we haven't spent money and it's nice to see some much needed permanent signings (regardless of whether I rate them or not). Hoping we add some physicality/pace - as unlikely as that looks. I'd be wanting to loan out Dolan and Vale if poss and replace with better.
  13. In the LT article about loans out this morning it lists both Jake Batty and Lenny Cirino as training with the first team squad. I wonder if one of them will be given a shot at left back/wing back shortly. I can't for one minute believe that JDT doesn't see that area as a weakness.
  14. We need a physical, pacy, goal scoring number 9. Not remotely arsed whether he can press or not. We've got enough players to do that.
  15. Only signed when Bell was into the last 6 months of his contract - he stayed at Crewe and joined as Bell left..
  16. The fact we've had to use them (and 19 yr old Morton) at all in the first 6 games shows how weak we are in that area! I think we have issues all over the squad, midfield is just one of them.
  17. They won't do that consistently through the season. Buckley still can't do it and he's got 4 years on them. I believe they are good players and I agree with all the other positions. But asking 2 lads from the under 21s, with no league experience to consistently boss a midfield, turn games or see out games in the championship, isn't realistic.
