Rothwell is 26 in January, that's way past improving age in my book. Should be the finished article by now. 2-3 more years and he starts to lose his pace.

We've had some great older CBs in the past. Hopefully, as Ayala doesn't seem blessed with pace, he becomes a Gayle/Moran type.

Good CB should play on till 33-34 no problem. Mulgrew not really a CB.

Lenihan isn't doing great but a season with an 'Ayala' type player would benefit him. Needs an experienced head along side him.

Here's the crux for me. We won't play much better away from home this season. Especially at one of the promotion favourites but we conceded 3. Bournemouth will probably get better once they adjust to the league - yet they still got the 3 points in the bag. If we had signed some defenders, would we have got the points? When will we start 'winning ugly'? Classic Partridge opening ?
