  1. Gally at £5mil or Brereton at £7mil. I know which I would choose!
  2. Oh come on. He was hardly kicking off. Get the replacement in, then let him go.
  3. To be honest I would probably have taken Adam over Stewart Downing. Absolutely scattergun approach if he signs Adam now on top of Downing and Johnson.
  4. So far then. Two out of contract midfielders in the twilight of their careers have signed. Possibly a third (Adam) and another midfielder (Butterworth) is allegedly on trial. This is to add to Evans, Smallwood, Travis, Davenport, Buckley and Bennett who we already have in that position and nobody wants to buy. We've sold our number 1 keeper (which is ok because he wanted to leave) without lining up a replacement, Decided that defence isn't a problem anymore and are looking at spending any money we have playing moneyball with a striker because last year's didn't work out. Have I missed anything?
  5. Same system as last year - Or have we unleashed tikki takka hell on Barrow?
  6. Would anyone take McLaughlin from Sunderland? Always struck me as solid when I've seen him.
  7. Can't agree with the squad comment - yet. We've lost Downing, Reed, Rodwell, Conway. With our first choice keeper in his way. We've Signed Downing and Johnson. Whilst I think our latest signing is a solid one, is he better than Reed? Downing is probably a better bet than Conway - if his legs haven't gone. That leaves us 2 defenders light in an already weak department. I expect Magloire to be Downings replacement in the squad but we need that 6ft 4 animal at the back. Not too fussed about Raya leaving (as long as we have a decent sell on clause). If we sign a dominant keeper, a big CB and a forward then I'd say overall, a big improvement. Have to say though, if we loan a cb, I'd hope we would go for an Assambolonga type signing rather than Gallagher. Gallagher is an upgraded Brereton. I quite like him, but Assambolonga would give us a different dimension up top.
  8. That's a great graphic. Interesting that the top 3 had their biggest spike in the 25-30 category. IE the category that we don't buy in! ??
  9. I thought Butterworth was more of a number 10 than a midfielder?
  10. Interesting in the LT that we haved 'moved on this week' from some targets. Also references patience 'in the corridors of power'. Would seem to give some credence to the recent posts about transfer plans being in chaos.
  11. This whole thread is based on rumour and conjecture! Fun isn't it ?
  12. No - but you can adjust the figures to whatever works for you. There will always be variables in a hypothesis ?
  13. Rovers transfer policy has been chaos for a long time now. Hypothesising - Tony goes with targets from A list. These will get us challenging top 6 but will cost £25 mil. Venkys say: we will fund that. Tony then says that my B list I can get for less than £10 mil and they will also get us challenging the top 6. Venkys say: ok - do that then. Venkys enquire half way through the window how the targets are going. None of the B list have signed as the reality is, at the moment, their cost is nearer £15-£20 mil. Tony says he might be able to get them if we wait. Venkys are confused. They look at the fixtures in August. They think about being told of the benefits of buying players with time to bed in. They think about missing targets last year on deadline day. They want promotion. They think that buying the A list players isn't that much more in reality (to them), will get us top 6 (so they were told) and they were happy to fund that anyway. They tell Tony to forget the B list and go for the A. Tony and Waggott feel a little hot under the collar at having to deliver (and the affordability aspects of delivering ) the A list. Not to mention the pressure on cracking the top 6. It's not the model they wanted to follow. They aren't comfy with it. Result is Rovers transfer policy ends up in tatters and we end up with one expensive player. It would fit in with the last 12 months of being told money available but we want to get "value". Moral of the story. Rich people can afford the A list. Don't show them that and expect them to be happy with a B or C list.
  14. All quiet on the ST front since deadline for renewals. I'm guessing around 6000. Anyone heard anything?
  15. Only problem with bringing him on means we will then sit back and we all know how that ends. More likely to start and contribute to a goal less first half!
  16. Irony there is that we've made much more selling defenders than any other area!
  17. Then are we allowed to lambast the manager...or does he get the January window as well? Let's not forget that this is window 3 of his 4 window plan to have us challenging for promotion and playing like Barca.
