  1. By God the LT comments section is scary. The latest article by Simon Smith is relatively scathing but ends up advocating we missed Smallwood's passion on Saturday. You couldn't make it up.
  2. So on the penultimate day, we've been linked with... Either we are keeping things very in house (good thing) or we genuinely aren't actively looking for defenders. I'm going to take the lack of noise from Mowbray this week as a positive sign. I'm also guessing he will have been seething with the defending Sat eve and can't speak about it because he's on speed dial to Boro/WBA/Coventry/Celtic, for a last min defender. #DefendersAreComing #GameOfTones
  3. So ideally we wanted to shift Evans, Smallwood and Leutwiler. To facilitate this the management thought the best way to do this was by handing them contract extensions, no doubt featuring a wage increase. It sounds like one of Baldric's cunning plans.
  4. I think most fans will agree that he has turned the club around. Unfortunately, there is little evidence he can take it further. If he walked away tomorrow, his stock will have risen in the game and he'd be looked back on fondly by supporters. Unless he turns the defence around (which he hasn't done to date), I expect most fans will be calling for his head in the next 3 months.
  5. Agree about the organisation. The fact that Mowbray, who was a bloody good defender, can not get this lot working as a unit after 2 years with the same group says one of two things. 1) He cannot organise and set up a team in which case he needs potting ASAP. 2). The players simply aren't good enough and can't follow instructions. In which case they should have been replaced 12 months ago. Either way reflects badly on TM.
  6. Simply because he is the best of a bad bunch and as such, the one who needs replacing last.
  7. Carl Jenkinson signed for forest - fee around £2mil. Been unlucky with injuries but a decent signing.
  8. If they are both similar, surely you play the one who is most likely to develop, rather than one who is limited in that position. I like Nyambe, he's pacey, competes well and is more skillful than people give him credit for. Has a mistake in him and needs to work on his crossing but then so does Bennett.
  9. 'Tony and I' Bloody hope they are feeling pressure. As it should be.
  10. To be fair Mani, Smallwood was given a new contract for no discernible reason. He was already struggling in this league when it was dished out. Otherwise he would have been out of contract this summer. So, I'd say that the blame lies with the manager to some extent. I don't blame Smallwood for not walking away. On the plus side though, he's probably the best keeper we own!
  11. To be fair if we sign a couple of defenders it will be happy days !
  12. Plus points: he's free - so meets the defence budget. He probably hasn't done a full pre- season so TM won't need to select him till November. Negatives: Not played for Boro or Coventry. Looks the type that might wear ripped Jeans and a baseball cap. Decisions, decisions...who'd be a manager?
  13. I'll bow to your knowledge on that. I know nowt about the lad. Wiki puts him as bang on 6ft. Not sure that makes him the aerialy dominant cb we need.
  14. Don't follow footy (Rovers apart) as closely as I used to but never heard of him.
