  1. Predominantly frees and loans since they came with the odd 'punt' taken on future value. They even talked about loaning players when they arrived.
  2. We wont be buying anyone. Sounds like we are scraping round for a couple of prem loans. We know that's the preferred venky model.
  3. We look best when we press high early on. Down side to that is we are knackered after 60 mins. I love a good winger. Frustrates the life out of me not seeing one play there. Thought Samuel for QPR looked a real handful down both wings.
  4. I'll clarify Galagher so far. He's been piss poor! Played some really nice stuff this half. QPR look dangerous coming forward as well. Get your money on 3-3
  5. Even by recent years' standards, this thread is painful. Have we ever signed anyone in a window before the last 48 hours?
  6. From the limited views I've had of our younger players, JRC and Butterworth look physically capable of stepping up straight away. Buckley's frame shouldn't be an issue long term, as many 'slight' technical players excel - like Coutinho. However, I do feel he'd benefit massively from 6 months playing regularly in league one. Get used to the physicality and learn how to win free kicks instead of being eased off the ball by a stronger player. He's clearly got the technical side, needs to learn the dark arts...
  7. If professional opinions were so accurate, we'd never make a bad signing...I'll go with what I see with my own eyes.
  8. No way are we signing this Polish lad. A - He's European B - We don't have 3 million quid C - TM has never really bothered with wingers that play in their natural position. D - There's no way this lad tracks back. E - He's European
  9. On a par with Raya but different strengths. Raya could obviously improve down the line!
  10. Let's put it this way, we've had a lot worse over the last few years! Think he'd be solid. No more, no less.
  11. Watched The lad in a Sunderland game last season. Confidently claimed alot of high balls. Something we've not had for a long time.
  12. Hats off today. Great result. We really do blow hot and cold.
  13. Is it churlish of me to look at the scoreline and wonder why none of our strikers have netted?
  14. The other saleable asset this window has allegedly broken his nose and cheekbone. Not looking good on the financial/transfer front at all.
  15. Not sure the rock of the back four covered themselves in glory against Man U. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. At the time, I thought that there would be better football out there than the Allardyce brand but, and it's a big but, if you told anyone the next manager would be an unproven reserve coach, we'd have burst out laughing. Obviously anybody would have taken Allardyce over that. It was the most destructive thing ever done to this club.
  16. The talk when he went was of a big name replacement...then up popped K**n. Nobody (except a bookie or 2 in India and London) saw that coming.
  17. Except Tosin leaves in summer, Cunningham's gone and Walton's crap - a loan downgrade on a keeper we sold for £3mil and blew the money on a non scoring striker/winger. We still need a permanent keeper, a dominant cb, a left back and a non-Bennett Right back cover. That's before we start on a lack of wingers/width in the team and non scoring strikers.... Oh and we're back to having no money again.
  18. Hire enough managers eventually one will achieve something!
  19. Armstrong is clearly the best of our 'forwards'. Still developing but he's quite stocky for his size, competitive, quick and scores from both in and out of the box. Also able to run the channels. Should get well into double figures this year. Another year or 2 playing up front (not on the wing) should see him develop into an 'Assambalonga' style player/value. Gallagher needs to reinvent himself. I'd be giving Samuel a start instead, surprised we haven't tbh. Brereton needs to go on loan.
  20. It's premiership or bust for Rovers in terms of future sustainability. As it is, next season they'll be lucky to shift 7k ST. There'll be minimal transfer money - if any. Gates will be sub 10k. The longer we are away, the club will die a death by a thousand cuts. It's clear as day that we won't be top 6 with this squad/manager.
  21. I said to the wife on Friday that I'd go to the Preston game - simply because it was a derby- then pretty much sack off the rest of the season. This is despite having a ST. I think a lot of us just go because we always have, not for any enjoyment these days. When the wife asked why, the only answer I could really give was 'It's just boring' - the club's ambition, the manager, the style/quality of football, the atmosphere.
