Excellent podcast. Post Wigan you would have needed a Klaxon, not a Bleeper.

Bill Arthur, Mr. Radio Voice, is a great listen.

I also do not understand the relevance of the Podcast title, a couple of small bits of the Pod were difficult for me to hear properly so I think I missed something.

Sound quality on this one not as I had hoped in fairness...our contributors were all coming through at different levels so trying to balance a quieter one with a louder one is “challenging” in those circumstances. We are planning to do our first face to face one at the end of the month so hopefully that will improve things...then again we might just end up talking over each other...!!!

The title is what Michael (jokingly I should add) said when we talked about Ryan Grant leaving Rovers towards the end. I bleeped out the swear to keep our pod in the child friendly section of iTunes !

    Hope that helps. ?

  2. This has received a lot of traction on Twitter but for those forum members who don’t use Twitter I wanted to share this.

The background is that Jen Bellamy, one of our regular podcast panel members, christened Harrison Reed the Ginger Ninja on one episode in a sort of throwaway line. When I went to Brockhall for Episode 100 of the pod, I also managed to grab a few words with Harrison Reed & shared with him the hashtag history & he said he was aware of it...

Well one thing led to another...Jen designed a logo for the society...then she gauged interest in having some badges made up, proceeds to charity...then Ryan Grant spoke with Harrison & found out he had a pet charity...

    https://nervetumours.org.uk/what-are-nerve-tumours/what-is-nf1/support-for-adults-with-nf1

& So Jen crowdfunded the cost of manufacture, has had them made & will be selling them alongside Scott Sumner of 4000 Holes magazine fame, who will also be selling his latest edition...at the junction of Kidder St & Nuttall St tomorrow afternoon from 2pm.

She is rightly excited & I for one am mightily impressed at the initiative & enthusiasm involved and the fact it raises money for a charity adopted by one of our players is just the icing on a rather splendid cake...

    So....please drop by tomorrow & buy one...or two...that’s basically the gist ??

Excellent Podcast once again! Glad you did it before the Wigan game, the "alternative scenarios" bit was well crafted and gave a positive spin, the flavour may have been different if it was recorded after that debacle.

Michael’s response was still probably a lot softer than it would have been had we recorded on Thursday...new bleep machine definitely required. Thanks for your support, spread the word ! ??

  4. For absolute clarity @Batman. I have made several appeals on here for people to contribute items to the podcast. Your robust & vigorous defence of Souness is exactly the sort of discussion that I think would make for an interesting article.

By badging the pieces “Revisionist Rovers” & explaining that your reaction is exactly the sort of reaction we hoped to get as it creates an interesting debate, I thought my intentions were transparent. Seemingly not.

My use of the “thinking face” emoji was my attempt to see if you would give it some thought, no more, no less.

I understand the concept and have shared my nutshell analysis. I think you've undercooked the 75 percent positive part of his reign (we were falling like a stone when he took over and would possibly have ended in the old second division... Tony Parkes had already agreed to sell Jansen to Rangers and the place was rotten to the core with egos). He saved us from potential oblivion and without Jack's money where we would have ended is anyone's guess.

He got us promoted, playing some of the best football I've seen at Ewood, got us a major trophy and got us in the top 6.

He should be a Rovers legend by all accounts. The fans have always been bitter towards players and managers who left us for so-called "bigger things," which is a shame, as it's led to most of our recent legends having no lasting ties with the club.

Do you fancy doing a rebuttal to Michael’s piece ? ?

Bit of a rewriting of history here isn't there?

He had three terrific seasons, followed by one under par, then left three games into his fifth season? So basically three incredible seasons, and one bad.

His time should be remembered as an overwhelming success, even if he is the type of character that can ruin perceptions very quickly.

That’s the purpose of the “Revisionist Rovers” pieces in a nutshell. Look back, review, re-assess with the benefit of hindsight come to a conclusion and share your opinion...which may or may not provoke a discussion.

I’d love for more people to come forward and contribute a theme of their choice & provoke some more discussion... *hint* ??

After the behind the scenes at Brockhall episode, the pod reverts to er "normal service" with a review of on-field October, discussions of tactics, formations, attendances, handling disappointment and play off memories from the 80's.

Panelists Jen Bellamy, Linz Lewis, Mike Delap, Michael Taylor are joined by new "boy" Ian Futter, which means for once host Ian Herbert isn't the oldest contributor.

Special mention to Bill Arthur for another of his wonderful narrations from Canada; this time covering off play off misfortune in the 1980's and final redemption in 1992.

That was really good, with Ian reviving the role of Whispering Wen to excellent effect!

Not impressed with the interviewer of TM who used F instead of TH too often but meh.

Funny you should say that...before we started recording I was explaining Radio Rovers to Darragh & Ryan & I said I was trying to recreate the “Wendy Howard  insight into” type of piece but of course neither of them really had any experience of Wendy.

Even to be mentioned in the same breath as Wendy will do me. ??

    Excellent listen.

Lenihan is one of a number at Rovers who puts pay to the hoary old cliché that footballers are all a bit thick. He comes across as a very level-headed and intelligent young man. Reed the same.

    Thanks to all those involved.

Darragh was very easy to interview in fairness...open, engaging and amenable.

I wish I’d had more time with Harrison, mature beyond his years and clearly well trained in media. I think it’s clear that our chat and my feedback inspired him to turn in today’s performance...?
