So they can get there before the gypsies.

Got it on good authority that it will be 6 numbers between 1 and 49. Get on pal, you can thank me later.

For Redknapp read Venables. Found it funny that in the same paper there was a full double spread on who is equipped to take over. There were the usual suspects on the edge of the page and bang in the middle of the spread was the old barrow boy himself Terry Venables as the main contender. Strangely enough the person who broke the Eriksson scoop - Martin Samuel, the person who is Venables ghost writer in the same paper - Martin Samuel.

Good summation Simon. There's no doubt we can and will do better in the 2nd leg whereas I'm not so sure that they can. Before the game I'd have taken 0-0, and while 1-1 isn't as good we're still well in there with a chance. Let's not forget Chelsea drew the first leg at home with United last year before winning at OT, no reason why we can't do the same. Have faith everyone, we're only one good performance away from a return to Cardiff.

Well done to all concerned, a good read. 'Blackburn as a town has little to really be proud of, but the football club is the exception. It should be the heart of the community.' - I think in that one sentence the nail has been hit firmly on the head.

[Archived] Rovers 2-1 Portsmouth

If you'd asked me last night you could have happily penned todays, I was touting it round but no-one was interested! I'm with you on the slagging off players bit though. There's been times over the past couple of seasons when we've been total pony and I suppose one can accept a degree of slagging where it's deserved. However this season I truly believe we've turned the corner and our performance levels are right back where we'd want them to be yet still the slagging of individuals and the team as a whole goes on. Makes you wonder what makes people happy. -

Amen to that. One thing about Portsmouth though, I believe, in Gary O'Neil they have one of the brightest midfield talents in the country at the moment. Successor to Tugay??? -

Garbage, absolute garbage. Savage's miss, Emerton's miss, Dickov's miss, almost constant pressure first half and yet we deserved to lose? -

Danny Murphy is unsettled at Charlton if today's Mirror is to be believed. Would be perfect replacement in my view but maybe out of our price range. Anyway, here's to another 12 months Toogs. -

Totally off subject slater scott but was it you in the LET the other night who got banjoed in the kebab house? -
Honestly don't know. How many of us were delighted when we signed Barry Ferguson? And he turned out to be a right pile of Barry White.

I have a feeling that Petrov will leave Celtic this summer, possibly for Ewood as we are most certainly interested.

And the amazing thing is, he was no more than a passenger in last night's game either. He was totally overshadowed by the young boys Burke and Murray, they put his minimal 'effort' to shame. Proof indeed that he can be mediocre North of the border as well.

Yep,I'm one of Nelsen's biggest fans but I'm not blind to the fact he had a shocker on Saturday, especially first half. For the first time I can remember he seemed to shy away from the physical battle with Beattie and to let the ball bounce instead of meeting it on the full is a real schoolboy error. -
I was thinking last night that Souness' managerial fate could be decided by the FA Cup draw. Should they draw a Prem club away Fat Fred could well start getting his P45 ready.

Waited up for the highlights on ITV last night and wondered why I bothered afterwards. How do you fit 5 goals into 37 seconds? The silence for George Best at O.T. lasted longer. ITV - s***houses.

I got an A* in my French GCSE at night school a few years ago. I think you'd have to agree that puts all the other piddling academic achievements on this thread in the shade. So there.

Super stella, I find it strange that you extol the virtues of Celtic yet have a St. George cross flying proudly on every post. Or is it just that you hate Rangers that much. Not having a go, just curious.

According to one of Jimmy Greaves' recent Saturday columns in The Sun, when Best had the liver transplant the consultant had a word with him on his release from hospital. The jist was you can live a full and healthy life now if you kick boozing or if you continue to drink you've got three years. When he relayed this particular conversation to Greaves he followed it up with '3 years, I'll put up with that.' Looks like the three years is almost up.

Salary caps are a bit of a minefield. If you cap it as a percentage of turnover we suffer more if anything because our turnover is small in relation to most Prem clubs. If you cap it as a figure say £20 million a year it could work (certainly for the smaller clubs). But then there's the problem of if it's implemented solely for the Premiership. If it is, the clubs playing in Europe are disadvantaged when they play the big continental teams who can pay huge salaries. For that reason alone it's pretty much unworkable unless UEFA/FIFA get involved and stipulate a cap across the board and we all know that's not going to happen. -
Quality stuff again Bob!! I can see him now, hunched over the mic, snarling and spitting at a load of 40 somethings re-living their youth.

Anyone else fascinated by starlings? I quite enjoy watching them in their large groups darting around erratically like a badly choreographed boyband. Having said that, it's that same unpredictability that could leave you in all kinds of trouble should you be cornered by some in Blakey's on a Friday night. -
Same reason we're paying players like Gresko and Flitcroft, because they were contracted before Hughes took the job and nobody else will have them due to lack of talent, wage demands, etc.
